Rose Anton Chekhov

Rose Anton Chekhov, a hybrid tea, is part of the Parfums De Provence series from the famous French nursery. Gorgeous, disease-resistant, very large-flowered, it has become a real sensation among gardeners, has managed to collect many international awards. The name Anton Tchekhov is used only when selling seedlings in Eastern Europe, in France this rose is known as Line Renaud, and among its names there are variants Forget-Me-Not, Elbflorenz, Sweet Parfum De Provence.

The new rose was presented by Meilland nursery in 2008. The breeding work lasted for about 20 years.

Compact rose bushes with bright green leaves reach a height of 80-150 cm and a width of 60-80 cm. They are distinguished by an active set of growth. The leaves on the bushes are large and dull, very decorative in appearance. The stems are strong and strong, easily holding large corollas.

The flowers are large, resembling a peony, densely double, with a large number of petals. The average diameter of the calyx is 10-13 cm. On each stem, 1 flower is formed with rich pink, bright petals.

This rose variety has a strong aroma with pronounced citrus notes, hints of fruits and berries. The smell is persistent, oily. The aroma also traces the woody-green notes of cypress, verbena.

This rose variety has very good rain resistance. Both the buds and the fully opened corollas retain their decorative effect even with heavy rainfall. Roses are also very resistant to heat, they are not afraid of the scorching sun rays. Other advantages of the Anton Chekhov variety include:

It is recommended to place the rose Anton Chekhov in the sun, in well-lit areas. It is better to choose plants on a wild or cultivated rosehip rootstock to increase frost resistance. The soil is required loose and fertile.A hole 50-60 cm deep is dug under a seedling aged 2-3 years.

In the process of planting, a small mound is poured inside, along which the root system spreads. The rose itself is held at the base of the graft, the earth must be carefully compacted.

In the rose garden, Anton Chekhov does not have to pay much attention. The plant is periodically pruned, watered without waterlogging. Top dressing is also carried out regularly, up to 3 times during the season. Nitrogen fertilizers should not be abused, especially at the flowering stage. It is better to give preference to foliar complexes containing potassium and phosphorus.

Plants require moderate sanitary pruning.

Shelter for this variety of roses for the winter is required only in cold climates. If winter temperatures do not drop below -18 ... 23 degrees Celsius, the plant is able to cope without it. The overall frost resistance of the variety is assessed as high.

For resistance to typical diseases of culture, the rose Anton Chekhov managed to receive prestigious awards. It is suitable for organic gardening without the use of pesticides. Possesses high resistance to powdery mildew and black spot.

There were no deficiencies in the variety. The only thing that raises concerns is the short life of a flower on a bush. It lasts only 2-3 days, then they fall off.
