Rose Anna Sophie Peak was bred in the famous French nursery Guillot, the variety belongs to the Generosa series, which the company singled out as a separate category of French roses. The goal of the collection is to obtain roses that have been bred from old varieties, but with modern colors, re-flowering, able to compete with the creations of David Austin.
Breeding history of the variety
Nursery Guillot is a family business of the Guillot family, the world's most famous originator of rose cultures, which has been breeding roses for several generations since 1849. Work on the creation of another variety in the Generosa collection was successfully completed in 2013. The resulting candy pink rose was named after An-Sophie Peak, one of the most award-winning female chefs in the world. However, she is the only lady in France who has 3 Michelin stars. On the 3rd of July 2013 there was even a “baptism” of the rose, which took place in Versailles in the Cour des Senteurs.
Description of the variety
The persistent upright bush of the rose Anna Sophie Peak, belonging to the scrubs, can grow up to a meter, but it also reaches 1 m in width. The leaves are dark green, leathery. Numerous globular flowers are formed on the stem of 3-5 pieces, collected in inflorescences. The flower is small, no more than 6-8 centimeters in diameter. Terry flowers, 30-40 petals each. Roses are painted in a beautiful and delicate pink color, which can be called "delicious". Flowers have a scent, but it is not very noticeable. It is worth noting that the flower petals are dense, open rather slowly, then fade just as slowly.
Advantages and disadvantages
In addition to decorativeness, the Anna Sophie Peak rose has a fairly high resistance to major diseases. The cultivar resists powdery mildew, but it is prone to black spot.
At the same time, the shrub culture is frost-resistant. Belongs to winter hardiness zones 5 (withstands temperatures from 29 to 23 ° С) and 6 (-23-18 ° С) according to the USDA classification (USA).
At the same time, the rose Anna Sophie Peak tolerates various weather changes, as well as heat. Unfortunately, after the rain, the flowers can wilt. However, at the same time, they do not rot, do not crumble.
Flowering features
The variety belongs to the re-flowering rose crops. Flowering occurs throughout the growing season. Rose Anna Sophie Peak blooms in waves, intermittently, but the intervals between flowering are minimal, only one to two weeks. Because of this, it seems that the rose bush is constantly in bloom.
Use in landscape design
Scrub rose Anna Sophie Peak looks perfect both in single and in group plantings. It can also be grown in pots. She is also good at cutting. Plants planted in small groups will look beautiful.
Landing
Like all roses from the Generosa collection, Anna Sophie Peak requires planting in a sunny area of the site or rose garden. In the shade, such bushes will grow poorly.
Growing and care
Anna Sophie Peak is a pretty unpretentious rose. However, the place where it grows should be well ventilated, while being protected from strong gusts of wind, as well as drafts, which the plant does not like. These roses are also afraid of dampness, so they must be planted away from swampy areas, closely passing groundwater. In general, all grooming procedures are standard and are known to rose growers: regular moderate watering, loosening and weeding of the trunk circle, feeding, prevention of diseases and pest attacks of insects.
Despite the fairly good frost resistance, Anna Sophie Peak roses need shelter for the winter.
