Breeding history of the variety
Brought a variety of roses in France. In our country, gardeners had the opportunity to grow this rose in 2001. This plant belongs to hybrid tea varieties. It is grown all over the world not only in flower beds, but also looks good in bouquets.
At the very beginning, Anastasia was supposed to be bred exclusively for bouquets, but then this variety remarkably took root as an ornamental plant. It is worth saying that by 2011, breeders had developed an improved Anastasia variety, which genetically had the best immunity to the most common diseases. The newly registered flower has acquired a unique citrus scent.
Description of the variety
Anastasia's flowers are pale white. The buds are shaped like a glass. The flowers grow large, sometimes they can reach 120 mm in diameter. Anastasia is a double variety with 26 to 40 petals per flower.
A rose of this variety has one-flowered inflorescences - one stem, one bud. Anastasia has a delicate, barely perceptible aroma. The bushes are erect, about 110 cm high. The width of the shrub is usually no more than 700 mm.
Anastasia's foliage is dark green. There are sharp thorns on the stems, but there are few of them.
Advantages and disadvantages
Of the advantages of the Anastasia rose variety, one can single out:
attractive appearance;
large flowers;
moisture resistance;
does not fade in the sun.
The only drawback is susceptibility to some common diseases and the lack of aroma.
Flowering features
Anastasia blooms in June and continues to delight others with her beauty until the beginning of autumn. This variety does not bloom too profusely, perhaps because only one bud is formed on one stem. Flowers bloom slowly, this variety is not characterized by friendly flowering.
Use in landscape design
You can plant Anastasia in rose gardens, in flower beds. With proper shaping of the bush, this rose looks gorgeous in single plantings.
Landing
Autumn is a good period for planting and transplanting Anastasia roses. At this time, flowers take root more easily. The flower is planted at the end of September, it is possible later, but always before the first frost.
For Anastasia rose seedlings, you will need to dig a hole about 50 cm deep. This is exactly the amount of space that the plant's root system needs to take root in a new place. The hole should be two to three times wider than the roots of the plant.
If you plan to plant several rose bushes of this variety next to each other, you need to leave the appropriate distance. On average, this is from 50 to 100 cm.
It is better to plant Anastasia roses on light soil with low acidity - 6-6.5 pH. Be sure to lay out drainage from pebbles or expanded clay at the bottom of the planting pit. The soil should be nutritious, enriched with compost and mineral fertilizers. This will ensure that the rose blooms beautifully in the future.
Growing and care
Even a novice gardener can grow an Anastasia rose. The care includes traditional activities familiar to all summer residents.
Watering and feeding
In summer, Anastasia roses are watered once a week, on hot days - once every 3-5 days. It is important to saturate the soil layer well with moisture to the depth of the roots. You need to use warm, settled water for these roses. Watering is recommended early in the morning or in the evening.
In early spring, complex fertilizers are used containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in equal parts. In the first part of the season, Anastasia should be fed with nitrogen. This element causes the development of shoots, an increase in the volume of the bush.
When creating flower buds, roses will need phosphorus and potassium. The easiest way for this variety is to choose a ready-made complex for roses, which has all the necessary components. Fertilization is not recommended during flowering.
In mid-August, Anastasia is fed using special autumn dressings with a predominance of potassium and phosphorus, which are laid out in the ground until mid-October. Potassium will help Anastasia get ready for the winter. Do not use mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen, it can reduce the resistance of the flower to frost.
Pruning
In the spring, it is necessary to prune Anastasia's bushes in order to stimulate them to grow. For this purpose, remove weak, dried and frozen shoots, and then shorten the remaining ones by at least half. We cut out the sick first.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
According to experts, Anastasia roses should not be pruned in the fall. Cut shoots are more vulnerable to cold temperatures as well as infections.
If Anastasia is grown in a region with a harsh climate, then shelter will definitely be required for the winter, despite the fact that this variety is frost-resistant. Anastasia's frost resistance zone is 6, thus, the minimum temperature that a flower can withstand is 23 degrees Celsius.
In winter, the roots of the Anastasia rose can be damaged by freezing of the soil, and the stems can break under the weight of the snow. During this period, moisture in the ground adversely affects the root system, especially in heavy soils and floodplains. That is why it is so important for Anastasia to choose a good plot on a hillock.
Protecting roses of this variety for the winter is to use mulch around the roots. Bark, dry leaves, needles, spruce twigs, hay, straw, peat or sawdust are often used as it.
Diseases and pests
Anastasia rose has good immunity to most diseases, but preventive treatment is still required. But bronze beetles are very fond of infecting the described variety, therefore, it is recommended to use insecticides or garlic infusion since spring.
This rose has medium resistance to powdery mildew and black spot.
Industrial sulfur-based fungicides have proven themselves quite well. They allow you to keep Anastasia healthy and beautiful longer.
Reproduction
The variety of roses Anastasia is propagated by cuttings, which can be cut in the fall and preserved, or can be immersed in Kornevin, then in a pot with a nutritious substrate, and wait for the appearance of new leaves. It is worth planting young bushes in the spring, when there is no longer a risk of recurrent frosts.
