Description of the variety
Agnes Schillinger is a scrub. A versatile group of roses that captivates with its compact size and at the same time huge flowers. The Agnes Schillinger rose bush is vertical, up to 1-1.2 m in height. According to some reports, it can grow up to 1.5 meters. Compact in width - up to 70 cm. Branches well. The foliage is semi-glossy, medium in size, medium green.
The flowers are large, 8-10 cm in diameter, dense and soft lilac-pink color. The color is complex, with tints from rich magenta to lighter purple, violet, lavender tones. Towards the center, the color warms up, brick-pink and even chocolate tones are read. Dense double flowers, dense filling, the number of petals can reach 70 pcs. Petals are graceful, slightly curled. There is a delicate fringe along the edge of the petals, it gives the flowers a special flirtatious charm. They look slightly disheveled, but just enough to be original, not shaggy. The shape of the flower is a glass, because of the super-doubleness, the flowers seem to be spherical.
The variety has a thick, strong and beautiful aroma with notes of strawberry, raspberry, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

All minuses, except for the last one, are subjective, depending on the growing conditions.
Flowering features
The rose is a re-flowering rose, but in fact it shows continuous flowering with an imperceptible pause between waves. 1 stem can have from 1 to 3 flowers.
Use in landscape design
The rose looks great in groups of 3-5. They also grow a rose in flower beds, in rabatkas, decorate with its help borders at passages, place them along paths, near gazebos or arches. It is best to plant it where the excellent aroma will be appreciated. The bush is neat, so the plant is suitable for growing in containers.
Landing
For planting, choose a sunny place, always protected from drafts. The wind greatly increases the sensitivity of plants to winter and spring low temperatures. It is forbidden to plant roses in low places where water stagnates and dampness is possible. Even the most disease-resistant varieties start to get sick from the excess of cold water. Particularly carefully choose a site in the northern regions. The sunny leeward side of the house with loose, sandy and well-warmed soil is best suited.
Growing and care
Agnes Schillinger, like most roses, is care dependent. You need a careful choice of location, watering, feeding and shelter for the winter. It is important to consider: the chiffon flowers of the variety are not highly resistant to rain. And it is better to water the bushes so that moisture does not get on the flowers.
Watering and feeding
In spring and summer, roses are watered abundantly with warm water. For scrubs, an average volume of water is required - about 8-10 liters per 1 bush. By autumn, watering is reduced, however, avoiding drying out. If it rains in August-September, watering is stopped altogether.
Like any roses, the variety loves feeding. The feeding scheme is built individually. An approximate diagram looks like this.
- In the spring, they are fed with nitrogenous fertilizers. It is important to avoid overfeeding.
- During the growing season, frequent watering with a weakly diluted mullein or other suitable organic matter is optimal.
- The last feeding with organic matter or humus is given in early August. Later feeding can provoke the growth of new shoots.
- 2 weeks after organics, they are fed with phosphorus-potassium fertilizer.
- After another 1 week - potassium sulfate.
- At the beginning of September, kalimagnesia is given, it completes the course of dressings.
You can use any ready-made universal fertilizer for roses. In this case, the instructions of the drug are strictly followed.
Pruning
The variety is responsive to all types of pruning, actively branches. Sanitary pruning is performed during the entire active growing season.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
The variety has an average winter hardiness. The rose is intended for cultivation in the 6th zone of frost resistance (according to USDA): Slovakia, Central and Western Ukraine, Kiev, Central Poland. That is, the maximum winter temperature for the variety is from -18 ° C to -23 ° C. The middle zone of the Russian Federation belongs to zone 5, the Moscow region - to zone 4.
It should be borne in mind that the USDA classification is imperfect and does not take into account a number of climate characteristics. Usually roses recommended for zone 6 grow well in the middle zone. But shelter for the winter, especially if the region is characterized by little snowy winters with frosts below -15 ° C, is a must. Young rose bushes of Agnes Schillinger are best covered by constructing "houses" from supports and lutrasil; in the future, you can get by with a thick layer of mulch (15-20 cm). Before the shelter, the branches are cut to 30-40 cm or bent to the ground.
Diseases and pests
The variety is very resistant to disease. If grown in unfavorable conditions, it can be affected by black spot. At the same time, it is very responsive to prevention. If there are risks, it is better to regularly process roses with Fitosporin-M from the very beginning of the season.
Reproduction
The variety is excellent cuttings, cuttings quickly root and take root.
Review overview
There are a lot of reviews. Those who grew the Agnes Schillinger variety noted the following positive qualities:
- activity: the variety stands in flowers literally all summer;
- grace: curly flowers, unusual, they seem to be made of silk painted scarves, they have such an artistic color.
Flowers attract attention even against the background of other roses.
In cultivation, the variety is relatively difficult for the Russian Federation and can behave differently depending on the conditions of a particular site and care. In the first years, it can show great potential, then it degenerates, the shoots become weak, the plant stops blooming, the foliage flies around.
From criticism: the core of the flower turns brown very quickly, the variety does not tolerate heat and rain, the flowers quickly lose their appearance, become faded, there is no self-cleaning, faded buds must be regularly removed, often and very sick with black spot, grows poorly and weakly. Such reviews come from the northern regions of the Russian Federation.
But the owners of the plots in the south of the rose are absolutely delighted: a problem-free, very beautiful variety. Some gardeners noted a faint and barely noticeable aroma, while the variety fully corresponded to all other characteristics.
Abroad, the rose is considered one of the most unpretentious. This flower grows almost everywhere: it takes root quickly and without problems, blooms willingly and abundantly without additional effort. Light rose, suitable even for beginners.
