Painting of building facades enliven gray cities, add color to sleeping areas, excite the imagination, delight, delight, make you think about the plot. The emotional load from what you see depends on the theme of the mural and the talent of the artist.

Peculiarities

Street painting is flawlessly obtained by artists who have experience in this particular direction of art. No matter how talented the master may paint canvases, not everyone will be able to capture the perspective of the street as a whole. In order for a fresco, graffiti or mural to look 100%, you need to take into account many factors:

  • cardinal points;
  • natural illumination at different times of the day, artificial night lighting;
  • location of the building in the overall concept of the street;
  • the shape and scale of the wall.

Only taking into account external factors, a suitable color scheme and plot is selected (possibly georeferenced). You should also take into account the illusory distortion of the picture when viewing it at a great distance, in which case the human eye's ability to capture the perspective of small details is reduced. Therefore, preference is given to monumentality, close-up.

Different techniques are involved in painting the facades of buildings: frescoes, murals, graffiti, patterns, folk ornaments are reproduced with paints.

Graffiti

The first graffiti was left to us by our ancestors in the form of rock paintings. The modern art form originated in the USA at the beginning of the last century... Then the artists "brought to life" boring boxcars with their drawings. Quite quickly, "carriage" painting migrated to the walls of houses and fences.

Graffiti is painted with paints or scratched on the wall, glass. These can be drawings or inscriptions, color and black and white.

Graffiti writers do not tolerate secular rules and restrictions, this is the lot of free artists, therefore, works are not coordinated with representatives of local authorities and are often considered illegal.

Murals

Refers to the monumental type of street painting. It will not be possible to paint the wall of a high-rise building with a spray can of paint in a few minutes, therefore, unlike graffiti, the mural has to be coordinated with the local authorities. But such street art is quite legal, sometimes whole streets are given to it. This is done not only to decorate the city, but also to protect it from the informal manifestation of graffiti.

Murals, unlike graffiti, in addition to pictures, carry an idea, a semantic meaning. In this case, they are closer to traditional frescoes depicting scenes from life or mythical subjects.

In addition, murals are very realistic, sometimes such drawings resemble photographs.

Color plotless painting

Painting that does not carry a semantic load, can be carried out on logs, brick walls, surfaces made of timber or under bamboo. Each brick, timber or log is painted with a different color. It turns out funny private houses. Color plotless painting is also carried out in the form of patterns and folk ornaments.

Surface preparation

Before you start painting the walls, you need to carry out preparatory work:

  • choose a building with a suitable wall;
  • sign a contract with the local administration for the performance of work;
  • choose a theme, define concepts, draw a sketch;
  • collect the necessary materials and tools, taking into account street work and the scale of the surface;
  • take care of the possibilities of access to the workplace;
  • think over where the equipment will be stored;
  • to protect the workplace from the presence of unauthorized persons for the purpose of their safety;
  • prepare the surface of the wall in the following order: directly the wall, plaster, a layer of finishing putty, primer.

If the building has already been completed, then the walls are most likely ready to be painted. It is better to take control of the surface of a house that is under construction, check the quality plasteringso that you can work on the walls by the time the object is handed over. To prime the wall is better with the composition of the same manufacturer, whose paints will be used for painting.

A building over three meters high requires special access. For this, scaffolding is erected or a hanging cradle is used.

The wall chosen for painting is filled with base paint - white or dark gray, depending on the tonality of the future drawing. Start work after complete drying. A well prepared wall should be solid, dry and clean.

It is better to temporarily protect the parts of the wall that are not covered with a picture with polyethylene.

Stages of paint application

Work must be carried out in dry weather with a positive air temperature. First of all, a sketch is transferred to the primed wall. If it is worked out in detail, with clearly deduced proportions and perspectives, a grid is applied to the surface and a sketch is made on it.

You can do without a grid, apply the contours of the picture using a projector. The possibility of using this method depends on the size of the wall, the power of the equipment and the absence of scaffolding.

When the sketch is drawn in detail on the wall, proceed directly to murals... All materials are selected with the characteristics of outdoor use. It is better to use paints such as Alpina, Caparol, all kinds of Tikkurila compositions, as well as silicate types and glazes.

Having picked up the paints, they proceed to the detailed execution of the artistic painting, work on the local spots of the drawing, volumes and small strokes of the composition. The work is performed from general perception to particular details, this allows you to preserve the integrity of the entire image.

At the end of painting and complete drying of the paints, the work is covered with a protective layer, for example, acrylic matt varnish.

Beautiful examples

Even the simplest painting will bring a dull gray building to life. But usually artists do not look for easy ways, but create real masterpieces on the city walls.

  • If the authors want to shock the viewer, they resort to three-dimensional images, cutting through the building with a river or drawing a car stuck in the wall.
  • Fake building facades look unusual in city blocks. The buildings of the past eras seem to appear on the streets.
  • A simple five-story building turns into a fun unforgettable street art object. Who wouldn't want to live in such an amazing house?
  • Artists have the opportunity to "tie" the plot of the painting to the objects of the street. It turns out interesting work with painted children watering real trees.
      Creating frescoes and murals on the walls of houses - expensive occupation, but decorating the facades of buildings with stucco and other architectural compositions will be even more expensive. They resort to street décor in order to make the buildings unforgettable, the streets original, and the city unique.
