Perimeter illuminated ceiling in interior design

When there is not enough light in the living area, the impression of gloom is created. Wasted time is wasted when it comes to creating attractive designs. • cornices located along the perimeter of the surface do not affect the height of the room, and LED backlighting contributes to a visual increase in space;
• lighting is much easier to mount on a ceiling cornice than on a plasterboard structure.

If we talk about the disadvantages, then it is worth highlighting the regular cleaning of the baseboard or cornice, since open space accumulates dust and reduces the efficiency of the lighting system. Energy efficiency will also suffer from this, as most of the light falls into the eaves niche.

To create original lighting, you can use a regular skirting board. For a more secure fit, the illuminated fillet can be installed on the wall and ceiling. When the lighting is mounted on a ceiling, it is best to use a wide molding. It perfectly fixes the LED strip to the ceiling surface. However, its main purpose is not always suitable for such solutions.

For such purposes, you should not use spotlights, since they are unable to uniformly illuminate a room or other room. Conventional incandescent light bulbs, energy saving and halogen light sources are also eliminated.

An excellent choice for the ceiling would be a device with a fixed diffuser or LED strip. Any of these lighting fixtures are economical and affordable, and they also do not heat up the ceiling structure.

LEDs are a backlighting option that provides a high level of illumination in any type of room. In addition, such devices are characterized by a high level of strength and reliability, as well as low heat transfer and small size. In some situations, you can use lighting with infrared or ultraviolet radiation. To create original lighting, experts recommend using lamps of different colors.

LED strip assumes the placement of LED lamps on a special board with a flexible base. Usually such tapes have standard indicators: thickness - 3 mm, length - 5 m and width - 1 cm. Power supply - from 12 to 24 V. The tape is equipped with a special unit that is connected to the mains supply. A special controller is used to adjust the light intensity. Depending on the model of the LED strip, the remote control is used as an additional adjustment. The power of the unit assumes the total power of the LED strips. When the block is large, then several devices can be used instead of one.

As for the installation, the tape is mounted quite easily. Manufacturers pre-release tapes with an adhesive backing and a special protective layer. At the final stage of installation, the main surface of the tape is degreased and mounted to the ceiling. With the help of ordinary scissors, the excess length is removed.

The main stages of work on the installation of the backlight:

• taking measurements of the total perimeter of the room;
• the result obtained is multiplied by the total power per running meter of the LED device .;
• double-sided tape is used as a fastener;
• at the next stage, a special power supply and controller are selected.

To correctly install the lighting on the ceiling structure, you must take into account the following rules:

• the tape is delivered to stores in spools of no more than 5 m in length and is cut into the required lengths independently;
• the LED strip is cut according to the markings made;
• the remaining pieces are glued according to the scheme.

Do-it-yourself installation of the tape on the fillet differs from its similar installation on the wall. It is strictly forbidden to glue the fillet to the ceiling; you can mount it only to the installed cornice or skirting board.
