Currently, a huge number of a wide variety of tools have appeared that facilitate the implementation of repair and construction work.

This article will focus on Makita renovators, their features and accessories.

Purpose and features

The Renovator is a multifunctional oscillating instrument. Its principle of operation is based on the use of oscillation (swing). Unlike many power tools that use torque, useful work is accomplished with slightly rocking attachments. Different types of functions are needed to perform different functions: for grinding, cutting, cleaning, scraping, etc.

The Makita multitool is a relatively small tool, inside the case of which an electric motor is hidden, and outside at one end of the device there is a place for attaching attachments.

The disadvantages of this universal tool include the fact that it is not designed for doing any overly voluminous work, that is, they, of course, can cut steel, but if you have to process a whole sheet, then it is more advisable to use an angle grinder; in the case of cutting plywood sheets, it is more logical to take a circular saw.

Advantages of the Makita Renovator

  • a variety of operations performed (to change the type of work, it is enough to change the nozzle);
  • the ability to use for processing hard-to-reach places;
  • the final processing of the material with the help of a renovator is safer, since the oscillation has a less destructive effect on the areas adjacent to the treated surface;
  • low injury risk when using the tool;
  • ergonomic handle;
  • the oscillation frequency can be smoothly adjusted;
  • the position of the attachments can also be adjusted within wide limits: the angle of rotation of the rig varies from 0 to 360 degrees (12 positions);
  • a unified landing site for oscillating accessories, that is, the Makita multitool is fully compatible with almost any set of attachments designed for devices of this type.

The Makita universal cutter (renovator), in addition to its compactness and lightness, has another undoubted advantage - it is compatible with almost any set of attachments produced by leading manufacturers of such devices and accessories.

Nozzles: how to choose?

When choosing accessories for the renovator, pay attention to the manufacturer (country), the quality of the material from which the attachments are made, their number in the set (when purchasing a set of such accessories).

To work with different materials, different types of attachments have been developed.

Wood

A standard woodworking kit usually includes:

  • saw blades (cutting discs of various complex shapes);
  • segmented or round saw blades;
  • depth gauge - indispensable for cutting operations with wood;
  • disc rasp and sanding pad.

Metal

The set of accessories for processing metal surfaces does not differ in content from accessories for wood, the main difference is in the material of the attachments. For working with metal, they are made of composite bimetal (BIM).

Concrete

The following accessories have been developed for concrete operations:

  • deltoid sanding pad - for removing mortar or glue residues;
  • scraper (hard and soft);
  • segmented saw nozzle - for grooving.

Ceramics

There are special requirements for nozzles for processing ceramics, because this material is rather fragile.

A set of accessories for working with these surfaces usually includes:

  • saw blade (segmented)coated with abrasive (diamond) grit - for cutting operations;
  • droplet nozzle - for cleaning the joints between tiles from mortar or glue:
  • plunge-cut saw blade and segment discs (non-sprayed) used for cleaning the joints between ceramic tiles.

Reviews

Feedback from users of this multifunctional tool is overwhelmingly positive. Those who have used the Makita renovator for grinding, cleaning, cutting various materials, enthusiastically write about the ease of use even in the most tricky and hard-to-reach places. They also note the small size and weight of the device, the fact that it is convenient to hold it in the hand. Users are very pleased with the ability to adjust the number of vibrations, because for work of different severity, it is necessary to adjust the device to the desired processing intensity.

Also, among the advantages of the battery device, consumers note the unification of the connector for the equipment, that is, if you wish, you can replace only the “native” set of nozzles with a better and more expensive one, leaving the device itself for use.

What can you say in the end?

Makita Renovator is a versatile tool, it is capable of replacing a grinder, a saw, and even a wall chaser, but in limited volumes, that is, to perform current work (small home repairs, for example) it is better not to find it, but if you want to purchase a multitool for performing large-scale work, then it is better to abandon this idea.
