All about the multitool bracelet

The developers decided to add another model to the line called Tread LT, which would differ in width without losing its functionality.

The multitool also provides the ability to work with more than two dozen different attachments. The originality of the Tread has not suffered, the set is still harsh and reliable, the only difference is that the Tread LT looks sleek and weighs less (168 grams).

The filling of this steel bracelet consists of 17 screwdrivers, 7 wrenches for unscrewing nuts and additional attachments (sling cutter, glass breaker, SIM card extractor, etc.)

As a rule, both modifications of the bracelet are deliberately released in a size much larger than the size of a human hand, so such a multitool will have to be reduced.

Unfortunately, the scaled-down model does not include blades, but it helps to pass control when boarding an aircraft, and all the other 29 working tools can be used with the same efficiency.

Another interesting feature of such a multi-tool is the ability to turn into a watch strap (from 18 to 42 mm in length) using special adapters that have to be purchased separately.

The use of individual tools is quite simple, as the bracelet is equipped with a special clasp... By the way, it also has its own functionality - it can open bottle caps, and it was also equipped with a square shank and an adapter for using devices with a diameter of 60 mm.

Because this multi-tool is made of solid stainless steel, the manufacturer can ensure that Leatherman does not fail at the most critical moment. Stylishness, ergonomics, convenient use of this multi-tool allow you to close your eyes to relatively inconvenient operation in some situations.

With regard to the configuration of the Tread multitool, its technical and operational characteristics, it can be argued that high-grade stainless steel is used for its production, which does not change its properties at all during operation, its original qualities remain the same. Tread has no tendency to tarnish, tool attachments are not scratched, and mechanical defects are practically excluded. Like all Leatherman products, the multitool has a multi-year manufacturer's warranty (from a quarter of a century to a lifetime).

Each link is numbered and has an inscription on the seamy side. As already noted, the Tread diameter is universal: it not only shrinks in size by removing unnecessary links, but can also lengthen. For such an operation, there is the possibility of additional purchase of the necessary links. The links are fastened with special adapters fixed with screw connections. The buyers did not have any complaints about the use of the screws themselves, since their self-loosening was excluded by the original configuration of the connections.

Like any tool, no matter how excellent, Leatherman's Tread has both advantages and disadvantages.

• It cannot be said about the Tread that it is light - after all, its weight is slightly more than one and a half hundred grams, which will cause some discomfort to the hands, because in fact it is the weight of a solid men's chronometer.

• Despite the fact that the multitool has a sufficient number of sharp corners and devices, there were no complaints about the fact that it clings to the cuffs of clothes.
• The same can be said about the fact that he does not injure his hands, there were no scratches on the skin of the hand. Due to the fact that the object is steel, scratches can remain only on external objects, for example, office equipment in case of accidental contact (it is quite possible to scratch a laptop with constant use of the bracelet).
• Stylishness, ergonomics of this multi-tool allows you to close your eyes to its relatively uncomfortable use in some situations.

• Since the handles of this multitool are the links of the bracelet themselves, for this reason there is not always sufficient leverage to apply it.
• The obvious plus is that you can hardly part with it. This advantage can be attributed to all multitool, but especially for Tread, because literally "always at hand".

Of course, such a breakthrough project attracts increased interest from the "pirates from industry" who are concentrated in Asia.The level of counterfeits is high, but today the only legal manufacturer of the multitool bracelet is Leatherman, although it should be noted that counterfeits (which are mainly of Asian origin) are found in the hybrid version. Here are some differences in reviews between a low-quality knockoff from Asia and an original Leatherman product.

• Both the one and the other weigh a little over one and a half hundred grams (the original is 168 g).
• The steel grade of the original product is "17-4". The Chinese counterfeit brand does not indicate, but it is very likely that its quality is lower.
• The original delivery package includes a square black box in which the bracelet is packed. Counterfeits often use the exact same packaging.
• According to the inscriptions on the inside of the bracelet. (lately this has stopped working, as Asians have learned to fake them qualitatively). Although the inscription of the original bracelet is usually of a higher quality, "readable".
• The clasp design of the original Tread bracelet uses a single spring-loaded bead, while the fake bracelet uses two.
• The Leatherman glass breaker necessarily has a carbide insert.
