The vacuum cleaner performs in-depth high-quality cleaning, it is able to get dust from places inaccessible to simple units. He is able to free the surface from the pressed dirt accumulated in the corrugations and crevices. Vacuum technology is represented by different types: household vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning, washing, industrial, garden, toner.

Device and workflow

The vacuum cleaner is a strong retractor. To understand how it works, it is worth remembering the simplest way to draw in: for example, a drink that we drink through a cocktail tube. The juice rises due to the resulting pressure difference on both sides of the straw. Weak pressure at the top allows fluid to rise and fill the void. A vacuum cleaner works on the same principle. Although the device looks impressive, it is assembled quite simply: it has two channels for input and output, an engine, a fan, a dust collector and a case.

The vacuum cleaner works as follows: the current comes from the mains, turns on the motor, which activates the fan, blows the outlet hole, while the pressure at the inlet hole decreases (the straw principle). The empty space is immediately filled with air, drawing in dust and dirt. Cleaning should start with sweeping or dry cleaning. Then a detergent is added to a special container, which the vacuum cleaner distributes evenly over the surface. After switching on the suction mode, the unit begins to draw in dirty water from the floor, placing it in a container designed for this purpose. The surface is processed in a vacuum manner.

Such a deep cleaning refers more to general cleaning than to everyday cleaning.

Power

When choosing a vacuum cleaner, you should pay attention to many criteria:

  • power;
  • filtration system;
  • type of dust collector;
  • noise level;
  • accessories.

The power consumption of a vacuum cleaner most often varies from 1200 to 2500 watts. But the buyer should be interested in completely different numbers, namely: the suction rates, which usually ranges from 250 to 450 watts. They influence the quality of cleaning. The advertising support of the model is designed in such a way that the four-digit power consumption numbers are always in sight, and the suction power is hidden in the instructions. It is a mistake to think that the power of the vacuum cleaner affects the pulling force and you should choose the technique that is more powerful. This is not the case, and it is better not to be lazy and check the indicators in the instructions.

If the house does not have long pile carpets, pets, or other complicating factors, you can get by with a small to medium capacity so as not to overpay.

Filters and dust collectors

The vacuum cleaner, along with the air flow, draws in dust and debris that settle in the dust collector, and the air comes out back, taking with it all the same dust and harmful microflora. To keep the situation to a minimum, a filter system is needed to retain the microparticles. Most often, a 3–6-stage filtration system is installed in vacuum cleaners. If there are 3 of them, then this is a dust bag, a thin filter and protection in front of the motor. The highest degree of protection is provided by microfilters and HEPA filters (more than 99%): they retain microparticles up to 0.3 microns in size. Vacuum units have dust collectors in the form of a bag or container. The fabric of the bag retains dust and filters the air, but it has several disadvantages:

  • as it fills with dust, the suction power gradually decreases;
  • cleaning such a bag is a dirty business.

It is more convenient to use plastic containers. They are easy to remove, free from debris and rinse. In addition, containers do not need to be changed periodically, as is the case with bags. But such a dust collector will require additional protection.

Nozzles and accessories

Nozzles are needed for different types of cleaning and branded vacuum cleaners, most often, are equipped with a sufficient number of auxiliary elements. A smooth surface brush and a carpet brush are required. Sometimes they make a universal floor-carpet nozzle. In addition to the main one, a furniture brush is included, as well as a narrow flat element for cleaning in crevices and other places with difficult access. Vacuum cleaners have wipes and water containers for wet cleaning.

Some units are equipped with napkins with special impregnations for different types of surfaces: laminate, linoleum tiles. Other accessories include a network cable. For good work, it should be at least 5 m. To make the vacuum cleaner easy to maneuver, it needs two large wheels and rollers. The unit is also equipped with an adapter, a suction hose, and a carrying handle.

The lineup

Familiarity with the device, the process of work and technical characteristics, of course, influences the choice. Before buying, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the most popular models.

  • Vacuum cleaner 3M Field Service Vacuum Cleaner 497AB. The 3M Field Service vacuum cleaner is a portable American-made device with a weight of 4.2 kg. It is designed to collect waste toner, which is collected after the repair of office equipment: copiers. Toner combines magnetized metal particles and polymers that can destroy any other vacuum cleaner. The unit's dust collector holds up to 1 kg of dust, while it can clean from 100 to 200 cartridges. The vacuum cleaner provides protection against backspilling of toner when removing the filter.

Toner particles are flammable substances, therefore the unit has increased heat resistance, when overheated above 100 °, it automatically turns off.

  • Knapsack vacuum cleaner Truvox Valet Back Pack Vacuum (VBPIIe). The product is carried in the hand or worn on the back, which is protected from the unit by a convenient built-in plate. The straps are positioned in such a way that the vacuum cleaner is fully balanced, does not cause discomfort to the back, does not press on the spine, and allows cleaning without straining the back muscles. Such a device is necessary in places where it is difficult to turn around with conventional models: it allows cleaning in public transport, between the rows in the auditorium of cinemas, stadiums, as well as cleaning everything you need at a height and in crowded rooms. The satchel weighs 4.5 kg, contains a 4-stage protection, a 5 l tank for dust and debris, various attachments. It is equipped with a 1.5m vacuum hose and a 15m mains cable.
  • Atrix Express Vacuums. Compact utility vacuum cleaner, very light: weighs only 1.8 kg. Designed for office equipment. It cleans well monochrome and color toner, as well as soot, dust, all microparticles and pathogens. The unit is used to clean any sensitive computer equipment. Despite its diminutive size and power of 600 W, it does not differ in quality of work from any other powerful service equipment. A color toner filter is included, but you will need to purchase a black toner filter yourself.
  • High Power Vacuum Cleaner DC12VOLT. Portable car vacuum cleaner, does not take up much space, works with a cigarette lighter, fits all standard sockets. Able to clean the interior, collect spilled liquid. Has attachments for cleaning crevices and other hard-to-reach places. Equipped with a removable filter that is easy to clean and comfortable attachments.
  • Vacuum Cleaner SC5118TA-E14. Refers to high-tech household eco-vacuum cleaners. Perfectly produces dry and wet cleaning, copes with carpets. The blowing function will help blow foliage and debris off the paths in the street and in the garden.It has a power of 1200 W, a 15-liter dust collection tank, a 12-liter liquid tank, a 5 m power cable. Equipped with strong filtering protection (HEPA, aquafilter), able to protect against allergens and mites. Wheels are maneuverable, power is adjustable, weighs 7.4 kg.
  • Vacuum cleaner TURBOhandy PWC-400. Beautiful powerful technology accommodates a powerful turbo unit and a portable universal vacuum cleaner. Works autonomously, has access to any remote corners of the house. It is equally good for cleaning large areas and car interiors. The equipment is compact, weighs only 3.4 kg, is always at hand, can locally remove crumbs, cobwebs, and can thoroughly clean upholstered furniture and do a large-scale cleaning of the room.

How to choose

Vacuum cleaners have the same principle of operation, but perform completely different functions, structurally look different, and differ in weight. In order to choose the right unit, you need to identify for yourself the tasks that it must solve, and then consider the types and purposes. Power is the main criterion for dividing vacuum cleaners into industrial and domestic. Industrial machines are used for cleaning streets, businesses, construction sites, hypermarkets. They are large, have a suction power of about 500 W and a high cost. Household appliances are much cheaper, their suction power fluctuates in the range of 300-400 watts.

It is better to choose models that regulate the power themselves during different types of cleaning.

When thinking about the type of dust collector, many people prefer cyclone containers, since bag ones lose their suction power as they fill up and create problems while emptying the bag from dust and debris. It is more comfortable to work with plastic containers, but in addition to reinforced filters, they will also require significant energy consumption. The volume of the dust container also matters: the larger it is, the less often it is necessary to empty it of debris. As for the degree of protection, it should be at least triple. For people suffering from asthma or allergies, families with small children and animals, it is better to purchase a vacuum cleaner with an aquafilter, since filtration occurs through water, where mites and microbes are guaranteed to settle.

But such protection requires additional care: containers should be rinsed and dried after cleaning.
