Samsung vacuum cleaners: types and characteristics
Samsung Corporation has long been one of the world leaders in the production of household appliances and electronics. However, even her products should be chosen as carefully and thoughtfully as possible. To do this, you will have to get to know them more deeply.
Peculiarities
The South Korean company has tried to use modern technological methods and elements in all its models. The latest turbine in Anti-Tangle format ensures consistently high suction power for dirt. The repulsion is increased, which makes it possible to more effectively free the air flow from dirt and dust particles. An important effect is the reduction of the risk of entanglement of wool and hair. It becomes much easier and easier to extract them.
The "MotionSync Design" option implies placing the functional parts of the devices on large wheels. Their drive is carried out according to an independent scheme. This solution allows you to increase the maneuverability of the device at times. Another important innovation was "Build-in-handle". This option helps to quickly change the nozzles, instantly adapting to the characteristics of a particular area.
An innovation such as the "Extreme Force Brush" allows you to achieve optimal results when walking over a certain area of the floor the first time. For comparison: most of the conventional vacuum cleaners put things in order only after repeated "passage". At the same time, the uniformity of suction of dirt through the holes distributed around the perimeter of the brush increases the overall quality of cleaning. To check the result, Samsung engineers came up with the Dust Sensor.
In addition to private options, it is worth noting such advantages of South Korean vacuum cleaners as:
- relatively quiet work;
- ease;
- compactness;
- comfortable control;
- simplicity and efficiency of cleaning the dust collector;
- a wide variety (you can choose one or another model purely for your needs).
But objectivity also requires pointing out the problems that buyers of Samsung vacuum cleaners face:
- increased build-up of static electricity;
- frequent deformation of the hoses, which makes it difficult to clean the floor properly;
- sometimes excessively intense pressing of the nozzles to the cleaned space.
Device and principle of operation
To better understand the features of Samsung vacuum cleaners, you need to carefully understand their device. The main parts of a mechanical cleaner and the principle of their interaction were developed back in the 1860s, and it is unlikely that something will radically change here in the future. Various types of attachments and brushes are used to collect dirt. Collected dirt accumulates in the dust container inside the case.
To make everything work, an electric drive is used. It creates a rarefaction of air, and therefore it begins to flow into the nozzle, and then into a pipe or other channel. Special filters are located both at the inlet and outlet. Thanks to them, it is precisely possible to improve the efficiency of air purification many times over. Dust collectors in Samsung vacuum cleaners are often made in the form of a special flask.
The nozzles not only draw in dust at the very beginning of the feeding path. Some of them help to significantly expand the scope of the vacuum cleaner. The universal type of attachments effectively copes with the removal of dirt that has appeared on any flat surface. That is, it will help clean up:
- windowsill;
- top cabinet covers;
- pedestals;
- carpets and so on.
In order for the universal nozzle to work properly, it is equipped with mode switches (for a smooth and fleecy surface, for more or less maneuverability). In practice, the turbine brush (or turbo brush) plays an important role. It is used when it is necessary to extract animal hair, as well as various fibers from carpet and other soft floor coverings. A miniature broom covered with long, soft fibers will help remove dust from:
- household appliances;
- ornamental plants;
- books;
- shelves;
- wall, floor and ceiling lamps;
- other items in the room.
But all these nuances apply only to "dry" vacuum cleaners. Their "wet" cousins have an important difference: a pair of chambers - one for clean and the other for polluted water. At the beginning of work, the first compartment is full and the second is empty. When cleaning is over, it usually turns out the other way around. For wet cleaning to be perfect, you have to run the vacuum cleaner at full power, otherwise the water will spill uncontrollably.
Washing vacuum cleaners are equipped with vacuum attachments. With their help, it is easy to supply water and detergents to the surface to be cleaned. Then the same components remove the clogged liquid. The parquet brush, contrary to its name, can also be used to clean laminate and even linoleum.
To eliminate debris, dust accumulated under furniture, under the baseboards, use slotted nozzles. It is the “nozzle”, not the “nozzle”. These components differ greatly from each other and are clearly adapted to a specific task. In some cases, nozzles with electromagnetic inserts are used. They are needed to collect metal filings (other small pieces of metal). As soon as the power is turned off, the electromagnet releases the collected dirt.
The vacuum cleaner may not have a hose (if the designers chose a vertical layout). If a hand-held apparatus or a "vacuum cleaner-brush" is created, then channels hidden inside the body are used to transport dust and dirt. As for the cases themselves, they are in any case made either from high-strength plastic, or (much less often) from metal. In addition to the details already mentioned, there are:
- control buttons (on the handle or on the body);
- control electronics;
- signaling devices;
- relays that turn off the vacuum cleaner in case of overheating and other overload.
A fairly large role in the operation of the vacuum cleaner is played by sealing parts. Thanks to them, air leakage to the outside is excluded. Sealing mainly occurs due to the closure of the joints with fluoropolymers. Orderly movement is ensured by means of bushings and bearings. Filters are made from woven or non-woven fabrics.
Contrary to popular belief, filters made from quality cloth retain fine dust just as well as paper. However, such products are significantly more expensive. In addition, washing the flask is clearly easier than removing all layers of debris from the cloth bag. The flask must be selected strictly for a specific model of the vacuum cleaner. Likewise, they are suitable when choosing pens, other accessories and components.
In online stores you can find accessories such as:
- motor;
- reusable dust bags;
- HEPA filters;
- output filters;
- telescopic tubes.
Types and their characteristics
Samsung vacuum cleaners are divided into a number of subspecies. If you need to choose a 1800W device, you should pay attention to the SC6560 model. The device is equipped with filters for thorough cleaning. The power can be set using the control elements on the body. The device is designed for dry cleaning only with an air intake force of 0.38 kW.
The 1600W bagless vacuum cleaner is the VCMA March. It draws in dust with a power of 0.35 kW. The manufacturer equips the device with a HEPA 11 filter. The containers can be cleaned as easily as possible. The dry weight of the vacuum cleaner is 5.8 kg, and the dust container capacity is 1.5 liters.
An important design feature is a reliable brush attachment. The force for drawing in air through it does not decrease, even if the unit is running for a long time.This model uses a cyclone dust collector. The vortex movement of air in it significantly increases the practical characteristics of the product. A long power cable will help you easily clean even hard-to-reach areas in the room.
If you need to choose a 2000W vacuum cleaner, you can pay attention to the SC44 version. It is an excellent container device that draws in air with a power of 0.37 kW. Wireless versions of Samsung devices are definitely not capable of this. SC44 proves to be an excellent choice for allergy sufferers. It is also recommended for pet lovers for the same reason.
The capacious dust container can be emptied less frequently than other models. The two-chamber cleaning system allows the cleanest air to be discharged outside. The wheels are also enlarged, which significantly improves the efficiency when moving the vacuum cleaner. Since its weight is 4.6 kg, there is absolutely no need to be afraid of difficulties with carrying.
There are no 1300W vacuum cleaners in the Samsung range. But the VC4100 model is designed for 1500W. Its dust collector collects 1.3 liters of dust. To pull it there, the vacuum cleaner generates a suction force of 0.39 kW. The design is designed in such a way that the suction takes place with constant effort and no tangles of wool or fibers appear in the brush. The device weighs only 4.6 kg.
The F600G is an excellent vacuum cleaner designed for 2100W. At the same time, it sucks in dust with an effort of 0.53 kW. By default, this model is equipped with a HEPA 13 filter. The bag collects up to 3.5 liters of dust. The weight of the device is 8.1 kg.
There are also modifications with an aquafilter in the Samsung lineup. The SD 9480 and SD 9420 Aquatic models are examples of this. As mentioned before, dust retention with a water filter is almost the ideal solution for keeping your home clean. A striking example of an upright South Korean vacuum cleaner is the PowerStick Pro. Consuming 0.45 kW of current, this device draws in air with a force of 0.15 kW.
Almost all Samsung products fall into the hand-held category. The number of battery robots in the range of the Korean company is relatively small. Consider the SC88 model. With a power of 2200W, it sucks in air with a power of 0.38 kW. The unit is equipped with a HEPA 13 filter and a turbine brush. The increased power of the device quite explains why it was equipped with a 2 liter dust collector.
The design provides for the use of a two-chamber complex "Twin Chamber System". This prevents a drop in power even when the filter in front of the motor is full. Rather, the duration of the stable operation of this filter is increased by 20%.
The lineup
Now let's move on to a more detailed and clear description of the company's lineup. The Samsung SC4520 modification is distinguished, first of all, by the impossibility of power adjustment. The suction power will always remain unchanged at 0.35 kW. At the same time, only 1.6 kW will be needed to operate the electric motor for an hour. The vacuum cleaner is designed exclusively for dry cleaning.
Its cyclone dust collector holds 1.3 liters of dirt. The power cord is reeled up when the button is pressed. To start or turn off the SC4520, all you have to do is press the switch on the case with your foot. In stationary storage, the vacuum cleaner is placed strictly vertically. Both the floor and carpet can be removed using the accessories supplied. The device weighs 4.3 kg. It compares favorably with compact dimensions - only 0.24x0.4x0.28 m. And the cost of this model definitely deserves attention.
Samsung SC4140 can also show excellent results. The manufacturer in the characteristics of this model indicates such positive features as:
- ease;
- comfort;
- profitability.
This vacuum cleaner was introduced several years ago. However, even now it is often preferred by users. The design is distinguished by its simplicity and the absence of various kinds of frills. But cheap, reliable and intuitive. Plastic for production is selected only with excellent shockproof characteristics. Even from an accidental impact on furniture, it will not be covered with cracks (although this property should not be abused either).
The blue color looks casual, but it can retain its grace for many years. You just need to use the device carefully. An important feature of the SC4140 is its weight (only 3.76 kg). Even people with less developed muscles can wear a vacuum cleaner. The removable parts are also made of high-strength plastic, which eliminates excessive weight.
The power of the vacuum cleaner has 5 switching steps. Automatic cable winding is provided. The package bundle only seems meager, in fact it is well thought out, and every detail is carefully designed. There is both a main brush for hard floor / carpet and a small brush for cleaning furniture. Assembly and preparation for work takes no more than 2 minutes, even if you do not have the skills to handle complex equipment.
The SC4140 also has limitations. With its help, you can easily clean a two-room dwelling up to 3 times a week. If you have to clean up more often and over a larger area, or there is too much debris, you will need to periodically stop and empty the bag. The device is designed for dry cleaning only. The volume of the bag is 3 liters. The vacuum cleaner makes a lot of noise during operation (up to 83 dB).
But Samsung SC8836 is a completely modern blue vacuum cleaner. It was designed exclusively for dry cleaning. A cyclone filter with a capacity of 2 liters is used as a dust collector. Total current consumption - 2.2 kW; at the same time, air suction with a force of 0.43 kW is guaranteed. According to the manufacturer, the cleaning is done very carefully, no debris or dust remains.
The developers have applied the "Super Twin Chamber" technology, which significantly extends the time of normal operation when filling the container. Additionally, a specially designed brush is used. The air passing through the nozzles moves in the most rational way. The body of the vacuum cleaner is surrounded by a soft bumper that prevents scratches on furniture and other objects. What is also important, due to the special coating, dust does not adhere to the brush strips.
The designers have provided a fine filter. The power of the SC8836 is regulated by a special element on the body. With the help of a hose and a telescopic tube, dust is sucked up within a radius of 10 m. The scope of delivery also includes a turbo brush. When the vacuum cleaner is working, the sound volume reaches 80dB. Excessive heat protection is not provided. The positive side of the model can be considered the equipment with rubberized wheels. The SC8836 weighs 6 kg.
As for a vacuum cleaner such as the Samsung SC5241 Easy, the company's official website does not report anything about it. Therefore, it is appropriate to consider the PowerStick PRO SS80N8014KR as an alternative. It is a vertical type device, consuming 0.45 kW and dust suction with a power of 0.15 kW.
Consumers can choose from silver, white, red or bronze-tinted items. In all four cases, the battery will provide air intake for 40 minutes. The vacuum cleaner weighs less than 3 kg. It is equipped with an inverter motor, which comes with a ten-year warranty. The battery is charged and discharged up to 500 times, keeping 4/5 of the original electrical capacity.
The developers of the model tried to create not only technically flawless, but also an elegant looking product. For this, they used a number of modern materials. A design feature of the handle is the ability to bend up to 50 degrees. This solution both facilitates cleaning in hard-to-reach areas and reduces mechanical stress on the wrist. Another technological innovation - "EZClean", ensures the fastest emptying of the dust container.
The engineers of the South Korean company also took care of equipping the vacuum cleaner with highly efficient filters. Compared to the components on the previous PowerStick versions, the new components retain even more dust.And five auxiliary attachments are enough to put things in order on any surface. These include a special brush for cleaning parquet and laminate. The soft nylon cover completely eliminates damage to the floor.
A miniature electric brush can help remove pet hair from furniture. Moreover, the designers have also provided for the prevention of hair entanglement.
It's time to move on to another model of vacuum cleaners - Samsung SC4181. This unit is equipped with a HEPA 11 filter. All controls are mechanical.
The highest current consumption is 1.8 kW. It allows you to suck in air with a power of 0.35 kW. A traditional 3 liter bag was used as a dust collector. The SC4181 weighs 4 kg. The device is intended exclusively for dry cleaning.
It is easy to judge about the filling of the dust container by the state of the special indicator. According to the manufacturer, the filter stops up to 95%:
- wool;
- microscopic mites;
- pollen of plants;
- mushroom spores and so on.
The delivery set contains 3 attachments. The brush, designed for cleaning floors and carpets, is equipped with a hair length regulator. There is another attachment that helps clean polished furniture and appliances. SC4181 can work in reverse mode. The air jet thrown out will blow away dust from various objects, inflate mattresses and bicycle wheels. And thanks to the extendable handle, removing dirt from even the most difficult-to-reach areas is simplified to the limit. The 6 m mains cable is automatically reeled up. Parking can take place both vertically and horizontally.
But there is no information for such models as Samsung SS60M6015KG and Samsung SD9421 Aquatic. Therefore, the last vacuum cleaner in our review is the Samsung SC5251. The red apparatus, consuming 1.8 kW, draws in air with a force of 0.41 kW. Dust and dirt are deposited in a 2 liter bag. The turbine brush helps to collect debris. To change the power of the vacuum cleaner, you need to use the regulator located on the body. There is also a filter in front of the motor. The scope of delivery includes a turbine and a mixed (open space and crevice) brush.
How to choose?
Even a cursory glance at the list of Samsung vacuum cleaners shows how diverse they are. Therefore, consumers can choose the most suitable model for themselves. The SC4140 should be chosen when you need a compact, low-cost, energy-saving bag vacuum cleaner. However, the volume of the sound is somewhat limiting the use of this version. Samsung SC8836 is simple and reliable.
Ditching bags in favor of containers can save a lot.
But besides the analysis of general descriptions of models, their technical parameters must also be taken into account. As practice shows, current consumption does not always correspond to the intensity of debris suction. Let this have already been said many times, but that is why it does not become less relevant - when choosing a vacuum cleaner, you should first of all look at the suction power. It is very good if it can be changed. Then it will be possible to save energy and clean all rooms at the same time, no matter how dirty they are.
The next topical point is the filtration system. The most advanced vacuum cleaners are equipped with 8-10 filters. This solution protects not only the air emitted outside, but also the motor and other components of the vacuum cleaner itself from dust clogging. A fine filter is very useful. However, it must be remembered that the more dirt is retained by the vacuum cleaner, the more expensive it is.
Equally important is how the stopped dust is deposited. For this purpose, paper bags, special textiles or plastic containers are used. The disposable use of paper bags can hardly be considered a disadvantage. After all, they are more effective at retaining the smallest particles of dust and debris. In addition, there is no need to scrupulously clean and tidy them up.
The cyclone type container seems to be the most practical and convenient solution. Waste handling eliminates the disadvantages of both paper and cloth bags. And the vacuum cleaner turns out to be easier. But it should be borne in mind that containers are more expensive and increase energy consumption. And the air flow moving inside the "cyclone" produces additional noise.
Experts note that in terms of the quality of dust retention, there is no equal to aquafilters. In addition, they also humidify the air in the room. But you will have to clean the water filter quite often. This technical solution also makes the vacuum cleaner heavier. And the need to carefully calculate everything, to ensure the protection of parts from contact with moisture leads to an increase in the cost of household appliances.
In any case, the dust fill indicator will be useful. It allows you not to miss a critical moment without opening the vacuum cleaner every time. There is only one noise level recommendation - the lower the noise, the better. The maximum allowable value for a house or apartment is 80 dB.
It is important to take into account that the volume of the vacuum cleaner has nothing to do with its power; weak models can make a lot of noise, and powerful units - on the contrary.
The next selection criterion is the cleaning method. Dry cleaning is good for small rooms to remove dirt from exposed floors and carpets. It is also recommended for items that can be damaged by contact with water. For cleaning in damp rooms (where liquid is often spilled), washing vacuum cleaners are used. They are also recommended for cleaning water-resistant coatings.
A serious drawback of any washing technique is its bulkiness and high cost. In addition, you will have to select household chemicals as carefully as possible. Additional chemicals are almost always needed - defoamers. Both "dry" and "wet" vacuum cleaners can be completed with collection and monolithic pipes.
Subtleties of operation
Reusable filters are easiest to clean by placing them in a tank of cold water. When the dirt has dissolved and released into the water, the filter is washed under the tap and then dried thoroughly. Cyclonic filters will need to be cleaned after each cleaning. It is forbidden to wash HEPA paper systems, they are only blown through with dry air. But a simple systematic replacement would be more correct.
It is worth remembering that the brush and attachments also require periodic cleaning. The hose is simply wiped on the outside with a soft cloth. It is not recommended to purchase the cheapest bags and other consumables. Even if consumables suitable for a particular model are more expensive, they will definitely not cause problems. It is also worth remembering that a household vacuum cleaner is not designed to collect:
- varnishes and paints;
- gasoline, kerosene, lubricating oils;
- perfumes and other volatile liquids;
- acids, alkalis;
- cement, printer powder, flour, fine grains;
- nuts, pieces of iron, wood chips, shavings and similar debris.
Reviews
Most buyers speak positively about Samsung vacuum cleaners. However, they also point out some subtleties that cannot be ignored. So, the SC4520 makes a rather loud noise with a good ratio of power consumption and suction power. But even 82 dB does not scare consumers away - they indicate that the sound does not produce any unpleasant, annoying impression.
Regardless of the specific model, it is noted that the kit contains all the necessary attachments. Cleaning the floor with Samsung vacuum cleaners is pretty quick. The length of the hoses is also sufficient. You can safely take any version with a consumption of 1.6 kW of current, if you need to clean 1-2 rooms.
