A vacuum cleaner in a modern home is an absolutely irreplaceable thing, therefore you need to choose it carefully so that a potential assistant does not become a burden for which a lot of money has been paid. At the same time, the variety of modern models, on the one hand, helps each consumer find something for himself, on the other hand, it can be great to confuse an inexperienced beginner. To guide the reader in this thread, let's try to compile our own rating of the best units for home use.

Peculiarities

A vacuum cleaner is a rather versatile device, and its scope of application may differ significantly from that which is familiar to all of us. Such a device is considered to be a household assistant for cleaning, but there are, for example, huge industrial models that are able to cope with the consequences of repairs, and there are small manual ones created exclusively for cleaning upholstered furniture. Purely theoretically, they, also being vacuum cleaners, could be used in an apartment, but a person looking for a unit for a house as a whole will not be interested in either of these two options. For this reason, no vacuum cleaners will initially be presented in our rating, except for household ones, designed for cleaning the floor.

Although our article is called a rating, in the classical sense of the word it is not, since it does not distribute places among the competitors.

  • At first, this is simply illogical - the lists will contain models of completely different types, and after all, each type has its own advantages and disadvantages, and it is simply impossible to say unequivocally which option is better in general.
  • Secondlyx, our rating, like any other, cannot claim absolute objectivity - each person has different needs, he expects some of his results from a vacuum cleaner, therefore the reader has the right to disagree with our nominees, and even more so - with the order their placement.
  • Thirdly, the line-ups of all leading manufacturers are being updated at an impressive rate, so it is possible that at the moment you read this, the rating could be changed.

For this reason, we are listing just a few vacuum cleaners that have shown impressive recent sales and have not been crushed by consumer reviews. The features of each model will be described briefly so that the reader can form his own opinion about whether this unit is suitable for him. Do not think that the very fact that a vacuum cleaner is included in our list speaks of compatibility with your tasks - we, for example, added it as a budget option, and you may be interested in the highest quality for any money.

Therefore, all the presented models are presented rather for acquaintance with the market leaders, and the buyer must make the final choice himself, ideally, focusing not only on our proposals.

The best models and their characteristics

The overall rating of vacuum cleaners for the home does not make sense - different types of units are too different from each other to bring them together. For this reason, we will make a separate review for all the most popular types of household appliances. Due to their low prevalence, robotic vacuum cleaners have not yet been included in the list, not to mention industrial units from DeWalt for cleaning construction waste.

Most of the little-known Chinese and Russian brands, such as Mie, Delfin, Diold, Milwaukee, Marta, Sparky, Kress, Shark, Dibea, were not included. Quality is usually associated only with popular brands of American, German or other Western origins, and although China has flooded our markets, we will not blindly focus on sales alone.

With a bag

The garbage bag in this design is at the same time an additional filter, which, as the volume is filled, reduces the productivity of the unit. However, devices of this type are still popular due to their simplicity of design, relative cheapness and lightness.

Let's highlight the best ones.

  • Thomas Crooser One LE - a vacuum cleaner from a manufacturer that is not included in the top 5 promoted, but is considered one of the most maneuverable of its kind. Smooth movement and freedom of its trajectory is achieved due to the fact that the unit is installed on rollers with the ability to rotate 360 degrees, the weight of 4.7 kg also does not impede movement. The length of the cord and tube extends the range of use of the device up to 11 meters from the outlet. Other advantages include the suction power at the level of 425 watts, which allows you to effectively vacuum even carpets with long pile, and the presence of two power regulators at once for gentle handling of different materials.

The bag is designed for 3.5 liters, so you can remove a large area without interrupting cleaning, together with the unit you buy as many as eight spare disposables, as well as one reusable one. The HEPA 13 class filter provides a very decent filtration efficiency for a bag assembly.

  • Thomas SmartTouch Star - another product from the same manufacturer. Interestingly, in terms of its characteristics, it practically does not differ from the previous one, except that the equipment with nozzles is more impressive here, but it wins in a completely different category - as relatively quiet. Its noise level during operation is no more than 70 dB, which is not a record for modern vacuum cleaners, but an impressive achievement for a unit with a bag. At the same time, the device is also quite smart - it knows how to inform the owner about the need to replace the bag. Special silicone bumpers reduce the negative impact of the device colliding with furniture.
  • Philips FC 9071 wins the Convenience category as its telescopic tube is specially designed to accommodate the height of the wearer. The kit comes with a reusable bag, but if you prefer disposables, you can use them. Naturally, the appliance is equipped with a filling sensor. The device sucks with a power of 450 W, which is enough for almost any carpet, while there is the ability to adjust the power, and the unit itself is quite quiet.

An unusual bonus is that the manufacturer produces special aromatic capsules for air purification. The unit is lightweight; it is not difficult to buy replacement filters and other accessories for it.

With aquafilter

Models with an aquafilter are considered the most effective in cleaning - they trap the smallest particles along with pathogenic bacteria, and can also be used instead of an air purifier. The disadvantages of this technique are usually attributed to its large dimensions and impressive weight, in addition, the technology negatively affects the cost of the vacuum cleaner.

At the same time, such equipment still remains in demand due to the fact that in terms of efficiency there is no equal to it - at least for the most expensive samples.

  • "Thomas Pro-Aqua Pet & Family" proves that although its manufacturer is not advertised on every corner, the designers of the company know their business, because this is the third unit of the brand on the list. This particular vacuum cleaner is good as a multifunctional solution for absolutely any problems, because the unit can work both with a water filter and with a classic bag.The choice of cleaning modes is also impressive - wet and dry, collection of liquid contaminants or air purification are available. Naturally, the power regulation function is present, although, it would seem, there is nothing to regulate - the device produces only 325 watts of suction power. On the other hand, working without a bag, but with an aquafilter, the unit does not lose power as the dust collector fills up, which means it maintains stable power at a decent level.

At the same time, the capacity of the bag is an impressive 6 liters, so there will be no problems with cleaning areas of any size. The unit is designed specifically for cleaning children and pets.

  • Karcher DS 5.800 - a representative of the brand, which is generally best known precisely for its cleaning devices, although the name is still made not on vacuum cleaners, but on car washes. In terms of efficiency, this is an absolute leader - the usual power consumption is 4-5 times higher than the suction power, but here the manufacturer achieved the second at the level of 410 W with the first - only 900 W! Low noise is also a great bonus - the powerful unit produces a modest 66 dB. The device weighs more than 7 kilograms, which is a lot only for other types of vacuum cleaners, and for a model with an aquafilter it is still quite modest.

The volume of the water filter is 1.7 liters - this is not so much, therefore, there is not enough stock for huge spaces, but for an average apartment this is the optimal value, since the device is not overloaded by the additional weight of water.

  • Vitek VT-1833 Is a good example of a combination of price and quality. This device is significantly cheaper than the two described above, although in many characteristics it is not inferior or inferior to them very little. Its suction power is 400 W, which makes it possible to successfully cope even with dirt on fuzzy surfaces, however, there is a significant disadvantage - this vacuum cleaner is designed exclusively for dry cleaning, the creators did not foresee a wet one. On the other hand, the volume of the water filter has been increased to 3.5 liters, which significantly expands the area that can be removed in one pass without interruption. The device weighs quite little for this type of vacuum cleaner - only 7.3 kg, and for those who have a lot of this, it is equipped with roller wheels on hinges to make it easier to carry.

There is a function of automatic cable reeling, however, for some reason it itself is rather modest - only 5 meters in length. At budget prices, the equipment is respectable - the kit includes five different attachments, there is even a special one for cleaning wool and hair.

With container

Vacuum cleaners with a cyclone filter are closer in efficiency to modern models with an aquafilter, and in terms of dimensions - to classic bag ones, while at prices they are usually located somewhere in the middle. Due to the compactness of such a filter, the vacuum cleaners equipped with them are not necessarily stationary - vertical vacuum cleaners-"mops" are almost always equipped with a "cyclone", which can have a compact size.

Samsung VC18M3160

The horizontal model is considered to be quite economical. At first glance, the power consumption of 1800 W cannot be considered very modest, but with a suction power of 380 W, this type of unit is quite good. The suction power, taking into account the type of construction, does not drop during the cleaning process, which makes it possible to effectively clean even pile carpets; for gentle cleaning, the suction force can be adjusted.

The volume of the dust collector of 2 liters means that a decent-sized apartment can be cleaned with such a vacuum cleaner without interruption. The design is equipped with a turbine of a special device, thanks to which, when cleaning hair or wool, they do not wrap around the filters, simplifying cleaning and extending the life of all units.

At the same time, the rather light device weighs only 5 kg, but it is still equipped with roller wheels for ease of movement. The only drawback is that the unit is very noisy, it produces up to 87 dB.

LG VK76W02HY

A recognized champion in terms of practicality, since with a rather small volume of the dust collector (1.5 liters), the design includes a dust pressing system, which triples the container filling time. As a result, when the container is emptied, dust does not swirl from it - instead of it, a dense briquette is removed, which does not scatter and does not remain in the air. With 380W of suction power, you can vacuum every type of flooring with equal success and tackle even the toughest dirt, while a power switch that takes care of fragile materials is located right at hand - on the handle.

Consumers also like the basic set, which includes several brushes together with those intended for wool and hair. However, there were also some drawbacks - they often distinguish a very short cord (5 meters) and a rather simple HEPA class 12 filter.

Polaris PVC 1821WR

Not a bad choice for those consumers who always agree to modest technical characteristics and are accustomed to consider low cost to be the main advantage of any technique. This brand is Chinese, it is not widely promoted, but it is already quite recognizable, therefore, on the one hand, it has normal characteristics, on the other, prices are still "Chinese". The main indicators are comparable to the models described above - 1800 W of power consumption and 400 W for suction.

The disadvantage is the lack of a power regulator, therefore, even for simple dust collection, you have to use the unit at its maximum capabilities. But this model is compact - its weight does not even reach 5 kg, which does not interfere with the good volume of the dust collector - 2 liters. The telescopic tube is very convenient for adjusting to the height of the owner, HEPA 13 filters are also advantages. As a disadvantage, we will write down an unprecedentedly weak package - only two standard attachments.

How to choose?

Even having an idea of the top of the most popular and praised vacuum cleaners of different types, you still need to understand how to select among them the one that is best suited for a particular apartment and its owner. You can also find negative comments about the best vacuum cleaners, and they are written by those people who simply did not understand why this particular model was produced, and did not pay attention that it would not cope with their tasks.

The best way to find the perfect option is to understand what you want to get, then compare expectations with the technical characteristics of different models and buy the one with the highest match percentage.

The unit can have a lot of different characteristics, but we will focus only on the most important ones - those that cannot be ignored and which the majority of potential buyers automatically pay attention to.

    Type of

From the above rating, it becomes clear that vacuum cleaners are completely different, but only now we will delve into the difference between the individual types and try to figure out which one is needed for what. With the choice of the type, you need to start the choice of a vacuum cleaner, and they are as follows - not counting the options, in principle, not designed for cleaning the entire apartment.

    • Horizontal. For the home, this, as they say, is the very thing - in fact, it was they who were present in the rating, since in 90% of cases the choice falls on them, the rest we will mention here only in passing. Such a unit is easily recognizable by any person; it consists of a body and an elongated suction tube. Horizontal vacuum cleaners themselves are classified into smaller categories according to the type of filtration, but their advantages and disadvantages have already been mentioned above in the relevant sections.

In most cases, this is the best choice for the home.

    • Vertical. At some point, it occurred to the developers that the classic vacuum cleaner is a rather bulky thing, so they decided to greatly reduce it in size. The final product began to resemble a mop in many ways, for which it was nicknamed - a vacuum mop. This is a kind of club, which, as it were, does not have a body, but consists of only one weighted tube. Such a unit is not tied to an outlet, since it is powered by a battery, however, charging usually lasts at least several hours, and for autonomous operation only one hour is the ceiling even for top models. But the "mop", of course, refers to washing models, and many options can also be used to clean upholstered furniture or toys.

However, a small margin of working time and a cramped dust collector, coupled with low power, make the "mop" of little use in the home - unless you live in a tiny studio.

    • Robot vacuum cleaners. This is just an option for a home, but it should rather be attributed to the near future than to the present. More precisely, such models appeared on sale several years ago, and different manufacturers even provide a certain choice, but the cost does not yet allow making the device mass-produced. And you would probably like it, because this device can independently move around the room, diligently dodging obstacles, works according to a predetermined cleaning program and is able to climb under furniture thanks to its flat design.

Thus, for the house this is a good solution, since it practically relieves the hostess of her duties, but it cannot be called widespread, because such units did not make it into our rating either.

    Suction power

For an electrical appliance, power is almost a defining indicator, but when choosing a vacuum cleaner, you should be careful - it has two such indicators at once.

The first of these is the power consumption, that is, the amount of energy that is needed to operate the unit. All vertical options operate on their own battery, therefore this indicator is not so important for them, but horizontal models, which are also more powerful, can greatly increase electricity bills. Of the modest models, you can find networked vacuum cleaners even 900 watts, but the average power consumption is 1.5-2.2 kW. There is no direct relationship between power consumption and suction power, therefore, with equal indicators of the latter, choose the model that is more economical.

But the suction power is just a criterion showing how effective the unit is. Modest models can suck with a power of about 250 watts, but in general, for a house without carpets and pets, a power of about 300-350 watts is advised. Carpets, especially with thick pile, as well as pets that are prone to shedding, mean that you need to purchase more serious equipment - at least from the same 350 W, and the most powerful household devices draw in up to 550 W.

There is a certain caveat here that cannot be ignored. Most modern vacuum cleaners have a consistent suction power regardless of how full their dust collector is, but classic models with a bag behave a little differently. One of their filters is a bag itself, through which a stream of air is supplied under high pressure. When the bag is a third full and higher, the garbage inside it gradually begins to thicken, which means that its access to the walls of the bags becomes more difficult, not to mention the penetration through.

For this reason, the indicated suction power for such a unit is relevant only in the first minutes of cleaning, and, if you have a large apartment, you will either have to take breaks during the cleaning process to clean the bag, or be faced with the fact that the power has dropped dramatically.

In view of this, for large dwellings it is advised to choose bag vacuum cleaners with a significant reserve of suction power.

    Nozzles

When purchasing a new vacuum cleaner, not every consumer is chasing a large number of attachments - it seems to him that he will never need many of them, and if there is an urgent need, the missing one can always be bought.Such an approach as a whole has a right to exist, but with an important caveat - if you have been thinking about the tasks for your vacuum cleaner for a long time, it is not your first and you clearly imagine the range of tasks assigned to it.

In practice, it often turns out that the consumer did not think about anything like that in advance and simply chooses the unit a little cheaper, because it really seems to him that 7 pieces of nozzles are too much. At the same time, experienced people claim that in a large apartment, there is a use for everyone or almost everyone, and if even before you could do without them, now either the cleaning quality will be higher, or the risk of damage to various coatings by an inappropriate nozzle will decrease. In addition, a complete, “wholesale” delivery is always cheaper, so in the end you will save money by buying everything at once.

Do not forget that in the future it will not always be easy to find the right attachment - the standard may go out of circulation or become rare.

The manufacturer is interested in you choosing exactly his product with a large number of attachments, therefore he will definitely write down what each one is needed for. If you still do not want to buy a huge stock, think over which of them you really need - for this, carefully monitor your cleaning process. Remember that universal brushes are suitable for the entire surface, but will never give the same effect as specialized brushes.

    Manufacturers

When choosing a vacuum cleaner, many consumers are guided not so much by the technical characteristics of a particular model as by a trusted company. It is not worthwhile to admit an obvious bias in favor of one of these criteria, on the other hand, the choice in favor of a popular brand, other things being equal, is quite justified - as a rule, well-known brands monitor the quality and reliability of their products.

There are, of course, exceptions, but in general, fame is not taken from the ceiling - the company has been working for this for many decades. In the modern world of information technology, it is enough to make a mistake once for an impeccable reputation to be tarnished in the eyes of millions, and this is a huge loss. From this we conclude that over the years, famous brands only tighten quality control in production and expand the network of service centers so that the consumer, in which case, can quickly receive qualified assistance.

Of course, high quality costs money, because branded vacuum cleaners always cost a little more, but the consumer can be confident in them.

You should be much more careful with little-known brands. One should not think that they necessarily make the product bad - perhaps the company is just young, but its founders set ambitious goals, therefore they monitor the quality. A relatively low price is also not always a sign of savings in assembly costs - it's just that top brands often slightly overestimate the cost per brand.

Another thing is that it is very difficult to distinguish a promising novice brand from a Chinese ephemeral of low quality by eye, because, buying an unnamed vacuum cleaner is very risky. At a minimum, a company that you have never heard of before hardly has a huge network of service centers, which means that in the event of a breakdown, parts will have to be selected on the market and repaired by "craftsmen" without any guarantees.

There is only one way to deal with this - actively use the Internet to search for information about the company in advance, look for real reviews that would show the possible disadvantages of a purchase, and never draw conclusions from one comment on one site.

At the same time, you do not need to blindly focus on the brand either. For example, Electrolux started its business with vacuum cleaners, therefore it still pays great attention to them, Philips equipment is also referred to as good cleaning units, but it is possible that another company is known for some other products, and vacuum cleaners for it are so, additional income. In addition, do not forget that in almost any line there is a relatively unsuccessful model, therefore, never choose a unit based only on the reputation of the brand with which it was released.

    Customer Reviews

To assess the correctness of our rating, consider the user comments on the models presented, and compare them in general with an average vacuum cleaner that was not included in the selection.

Since, when compiling, we were guided by a large number of positive opinions, it is not surprising that all the vacuum cleaners we have presented are praised by many Internet users. Some of them are valued for quality and reliability, others are highly efficient in solving problems, and others may not have impressive characteristics, but at their cost they are a bargain. Each model has at least a couple of advantages that attract a significant number of consumers and make our top fairly fair.

At the same time, there is no vacuum cleaner in the world that has never been criticized. There are no ideal models, because everyone has some drawbacks - budget vacuum cleaners, with good efficiency, can pump up in terms of size, light and inexpensive ones are not powerful enough, light and powerful ones are expensive, and so on. Comments on various sites show that even the best units are not good for everyone - you can find a flaw if you want, and although most consumers like the model, you can agree with the arguments of critics.

For this reason, it is worth carefully reading the full characteristics of each model, studying reviews about it on the network and approaching the choice very carefully.
