LED floodlight is the latest generation of high power luminaires, replacing tungsten and fluorescent lamps. With the calculated power supply characteristics, it generates almost no heat, converting up to 90% of electricity into light.

LED floodlights have a lot of advantages.

1. Profitability. Highest efficiency. They hardly get hot, if you do not exceed the average operating current and voltage on the LEDs. 2. Durability. As the advertisement promises, LEDs last up to 100,000 hours, if, again, you do not replace the operating voltage of the LED on with its peak value.

3. Moisture protection. LEDs are not afraid of precipitation (if it's not frosty outside). This fully applies to simple super-bright ones, whose operating current reaches 20 milliamperes. Other varieties, including open-frame LEDs, still need silicone protection.

4. Cooling sealed enclosure. The rear wall of the floodlight is a ribbed radiator. The floodlight is not afraid of pouring rain - it is protected as much as possible by dense spacers made of soft plastic and a rubber layer.

5. It can be connected to a 220 volt network. If the floodlight is not designed to be powered from 12/24/36 V (without driver), then it can be immediately connected to the public mains.

6. Suitable for lighting areas over a hundred square meters. At the same time, the 100-watt model will illuminate a decent-sized area. It will also replace the outdoor LED floodlight mounted directly on the suspension of the pole lamp.

For home (residential) premises, there are chandeliers, wall, table and recessed lamps with frosted bulbs that diffuse the emitted light. The searchlight does not have such a diffuser - it has only transparent tempered glass.

The luminous flux of 100 W floodlights reaches several thousand lumens. Luminosity in lumens per watt of consumed power depends on the LEDs. Small LEDs without a housing, used in lamps for a room, have a consumption current of about 60 mA, that is, they give off an average of 3 times more light than standard housing ones.

The opening angle of the light flux is about 90 degrees. Open-frame LEDs, the light from which is not corrected by a separate (external) lens, do not have a sharp directivity pattern. If you focus the light with a separate lens, then you can get only a pattern of bright luminous points separated by less light gaps. Additional lenses are rarely installed in spotlights - the goal is to illuminate a wide area under them, and not concentrate the beam over several kilometers.

In spotlights, mainly SMD LEDs are used, less often COB assemblies. A driver for network floodlights, whose supply voltage is common to many household electrical appliances, is a board that not only rectifies alternating voltage, but lowers it to a level at which it is relatively safe for humans.The driver controls the operating current, the latter is rigidly set, and if there are more LEDs than intended in a particular model, it simply will not give a bright light on the LED matrix.

According to advertising statements, it can work without problems for 5 years around the clock. In fact, the service life is reduced from 50-100 thousand hours to only 1-3 hours due to the deliberate overestimation of the operating current by manufacturers.

The weather temperature ranges from -50 to +50 degrees. The spotlight will start in almost any weather.

Moisture protection of the floodlight is no worse than IP66. This is enough to protect the product from showers and dirt.

The toughened glass makes these floodlights, in fact, explosion-proof products. This glass is not immediately broken, even with a hammer.

Street floodlights are equipped with a motion sensor, which saves resources and energy. The light turns on on such a spotlight only when a person or a car appears nearby. For example, the spotlight will not react to dogs and cats. The light matrix turns on only for a minute - after stopping the movement, which it is able to catch near the searchlight with the help of this sensor, it will turn off automatically.

For street lighting, a floodlight with a capacity of several tens of watts is suitable. It is powered by 220 V. Its analogue - a rechargeable battery - is a portable, portable solution, the scope of application is work at night in hard-to-reach places where there is no centralized lighting. Street floodlights emit cold light - from 6500 Kelvin. For residential and work premises, a warm glow is more suitable - no more than 5000 K. The fact is that the cold one contains rays that are shifted far to the blue edge of the visible spectrum and reach almost to low-frequency (long-wave) ultraviolet radiation, which will not have the best effect on vision.

4. The LED matrix should not contain crooked, asymmetrically mounted LEDs. The defective product must be replaced with a normal one.

Ask the seller to plug in the spotlight (or connect it to the battery). This will reveal the unstable glow or complete inoperability of the "broken" LEDs.However, it often happens that due to the series-connected LEDs - and in the presence of one inoperative - the entire assembly refuses to light up. Burned out LEDs are visible in dots - the crystal, or rather, its point, to which the filament is connected, turns black at the moment of burnout.

Make sure the glass is clear and not scratched. Tempered glass is difficult to scratch. In addition, if at least one crack appears on it, it cracks over the entire area and crumbles into the same crumb.

Do not buy a spotlight that is not claimed to cover a specific area with sufficient light at night. However, cheap Chinese fakes are unlikely to give out 100 watts - at best, there will be 70 watts.

Do not forget that a 100 W diode floodlight consumes, and does not give out, the declared power. Considering its considerable heating due to design discrepancies, it is able to dissipate up to 40% of the consumed power for heat.
