Where are GP-9 gas masks used and how to use them?
Each thing should be applied for its intended purpose as consciously and clearly as possible. This fully applies to personal safety equipment. It is imperative to know where GP-9 gas masks are used, how to use and store them. This is covered in this article.
Peculiarities
Among other means of personal protection of the respiratory organs, the civilian gas mask GP-9 stands out favorably. Along with the lungs and respiratory tract, the device helps to protect the skin of the face and eyes. Visible mucous membranes will also be reliably covered. A special headband is used to hold it on the head. No ear protection is provided.
GP-9 will be able to stop:
- toxic substances;
- aerosol biological agents;
- radioactive dust;
- vapors of mercury and mercury in liquid form.
It supports protection from both special poisonous agents and chemically hazardous substances that have arisen as a result of accidents. Gas mask users can talk and listen to other people, including using various technical means. The device is intended for use by civilians and non-staff civil defense units in various emergency situations.
Experts note that GP-9 will be able to stop iodine radionuclides. The blocking of organic compounds, including radionuclides, is also guaranteed.
The mask of this gas mask is of the volumetric type. It is equipped with an "independent" obturator, which is formed in close connection with the mask body. Additionally, there is:
- spectacle block;
- valves for inhalation and exhalation;
- cowl;
- negotiation element;
- headgear.
The thread of the neck and cap on the filter-absorbing box is fully compatible with previously released gas masks. FPC material is deformed (not destroyed). In this case, testing is not required to detect probable defects. Some modifications of the front part are equipped with drinking devices.
A typical delivery set for GP-9 includes:
- anti-fog film;
- cuff for insulation;
- carry bag;
- rubber cords;
- instruction manual.
Technical specifications:
- gross assembly weight is 0.9 kg;
- overall dimensions - 28.5x21x10 cm;
- permissible temperatures: from -40 to +40 degrees.
Where is it applied?
Gas mask GP-9 can withstand:
- sulfur dioxide;
- hydrocyanic acid;
- cyclohexane;
- chlorine;
- hydrogen cyanide;
- chlorocyanogen;
- mercury vapor.
These characteristics allow the use of this device:
- in industrial production (except for highly hazardous facilities);
- at construction sites;
- during emergency search, emergency recovery and emergency rescue operations;
- for household purposes (for repairs, disinfection, disinsection and deratization);
- in conditions of high temperature and chemically aggressive environment.
How to use?
It is periodically required to assess the completeness and general serviceability of the GP-9 gas mask. At the same time, the condition of the obturator, the body of the mask and the straps are assessed. Additionally, the presence of buckles and their serviceability are checked.The exhalation assembly is inspected after removing the screen and unscrewing the saddle. Immediately after this, it is necessary to inspect the valves, if necessary, blow them out.
Having finished with these checks, they test further:
- glass on the front;
- insulation cuffs;
- pressure cords;
- the quality of the inspiratory node and the gasket in it;
- attachment of the fairing.
If you find broken glass, a crack, damage to the case and shutter, or other obvious mechanical defects, you cannot use a gas mask.
It is handed over to the appropriate organization, marking problem areas with chemical pencils or markers. Each time you receive a new GP-9, you must check the completeness with the official description.
- Assembly begins by wiping the outside and inside of the mask. For processing, use cotton wool or clean rags. Then the mask should be dried at natural temperature. After the end of drying, the nodes responsible for inhalation and exhalation are purged.
- The sealing stickers are removed from the filter box, and then the cap is removed from the neck and the rubber stopper is removed. These parts and the gasket are placed in a gas mask bag. The mask is held with the left hand, and the filter box is attached with the right hand - it must be screwed into the inhalation unit to failure.
- After that, the placement of the headgear straps is brought in accordance with the instructions. First, the frontal and temporal straps are inserted into the middle slots on the buckles. Next, the free edges of the cheek straps are inserted into the slots on the edges of the buckles.
- If a loop has formed, it is removed by pulling the strap through the middle slot. The direction of movement is away from the free edge of the strap.
Putting on the GP-9 gas mask does not differ from the similar action for other models.
Care and storage
Any gas masks must be carefully protected from shock, mechanical damage, high temperature and pressure. The exhalation valves should be handled with utmost care. It is undesirable, if not necessary, to get them out of the valve box. If the valves become clogged or stick together, they are carefully purged.
The dirty mask is washed with soapy water (before that, the FPK is dismantled). Even small amounts of water should not be inside the valve box.
Gas masks should be dried immediately after moistening.
Store them only in warm, dry places. Only special bags are suitable for carrying. The distance to heating devices must be at least 3 m. Contact between the spectacle and valve parts of different face masks is not allowed.
