Projectors have entered our lives, and the days when they were used only for education or business are long gone. They are now part of the home entertainment center.

It is almost impossible to imagine such a multimedia device without a stand that will help arrange a presentation or speech in front of an audience, as well as a home theater.

Design features

Before buying a projector, few people think of such an important item as a stand. Of course, you can put the device on a table and work with it, but it will not look very aesthetically pleasing, and it will also not be very convenient to use the device. An ordinary table has no height adjustment, and the picture will be displayed on the screen with distortion. So it's worth considering a projector stand.

Today, due to the widespread use of multimedia devices appeared a huge number of different stands and mounts for them. In order to choose the correct and necessary model in each specific case, you need to at least roughly imagine how you plan to use the projector in the future. Will he constantly move from one place to another or stand in a room on a shelf - the choice of design depends on this.

It is also important whether the device from which the information is read will be nearby.

Anticipating all this, manufacturers are releasing many models of stands and mounts from a variety of materials. The main raw material for them, of course, is metal, but there are also structures made of plastic and sometimes wood.

The terms of use of projectors imply some peculiarities of their performance that you need to pay attention to. For example, there are racks with adjustable stem height or pivoting, which greatly expands the possibilities of their application.

Some projectors are heavy and large, so don't forget about that.

For presentations a very convenient mobile stand has been created, on which the laptop can be placed side by side or in two tiers, as you like. For mobile stands it matters a lot whether they are equipped with casters or not.

If the projector is going to be stationary, it is possible to attach the stand to a wall or ceiling. This is very convenient: it allows you to save space and hide the wires so that they do not get tangled under your feet. Some ceiling models are equipped with liftthat can be raised and lowered to the desired height.

The design features of the racks, such as the angle of inclination of the projection shelf and the presence of technological holes in it for reliable fastening of the device, are of great importance.

Varieties of stands

Most often there are several types of projector stands.

  • Non-adjustable stand. It resembles an ordinary shelf that is installed on a table, has small legs and compact dimensions. Its advantage is its low cost and ease of use, its disadvantage is the inability to change the angle of inclination.
  • Floor stand - this is probably the most common and functional model. It accommodates not only a projector, but also other devices, such as a laptop. It stands securely on the floor due to the large number of legs (three or more depending on the model). Since the quality of the picture largely depends on the angle of projection of the image, the manufacturers of the tripod have provided the ability to change the height and angle of inclination. The tripod design is reminiscent of professional filming equipment and will fit perfectly into any event.

The disadvantage is that there is nowhere to hide a large number of wires, and if there are a large number of people in the hall, this will cause some inconvenience.

  • Stand trolley... This is the mobile version of the table. It has excellent stability, the ability to rotate 360 degrees and move due to the presence of wheels in the structure. This model is versatile and will fit any type of projector. This design can withstand a weight of up to 20 kg and allows you not to worry about the safety of your device.
  • Brackets. Permanently attached to the ceiling or wall, allow you to solve the tasks of business, education or home viewing. They also have the ability to change the tilt and angle of rotation of the multimedia device.

Criterias of choice

When choosing a stand for a video projector, there are several key factors to consider, which determine the main parameters of the desired model.

  • Purpose of Acquisition - whether it will be used at home or in educational and business projects. During presentations, it will constantly move, which is quite natural, and for this, a folding lightweight tripod is best suited. For a home or classroom where you don't have to constantly move the projector, wall or ceiling mounts are suitable. But here it should be noted that not every ceiling is capable of supporting the weight of the stand and the projector. For example, tension or suspension will definitely not cope with this.
  • Manufacturing material - most often aluminum or steel is used, but it can be any other. These metals dissipate heat well, so the coasters stay cool for a long time. They are resistant to mechanical damage and will last a long time. Models made of metal are lightweight and very easy to transport. You should not buy plastic stands, although they are, of course, much cheaper. But their heat dissipation, reliability and service life are much lower.
  • Availability of adjustments, wheels, convenience, practicality and appearance of the product.
  • Do not forget about such a parameter as the carrying capacity of the rack.... Do not place on a stand that can support 5 kg, a product weighing 15. Doing so may cause the structure to fall and damage the equipment. It is desirable to have a load capacity margin of 15-20%, suddenly you will need to place something else nearby.
  • The size. It matters in this case. Most often you can find models with a surface diagonal from 12 to 20 inches. You need to select based on the size of your projector and output device, such as a laptop.
  • Rack cooling system. At the moment, the best option is mounts with a passive cooling system. Such models are somewhat cheaper than those with forced cooling. Fan racks are noisy, which is always not a good viewing experience and require extra attention.
  • And the final point is finance.... It is not worth saving on a stand. If the media center falls, the repairs will cost much more than the rack itself.
