All About Canon Inkjet Printers
Canon inkjet printers are popular for their reliability and print quality. If you want to purchase such a device for home use, then you need to decide which model you want - with color or black and white printing. Recently, the models with an uninterrupted ink supply system have been most in demand. Let's talk about these printers in more detail.
Peculiarities
Inkjet printers differ from laser printers in that the dye composition instead of toner in them is ink... Canon uses bubble technology in its devices, a thermal method where each nozzle is equipped with a heating element that raises the temperature to approximately 500ºC in microseconds. The resulting bubbles expel a small amount of ink through each nozzle passage, thus leaving an imprint on the paper.
Printing mechanisms using this method contain fewer structural parts, which increases their useful life. In addition, the use of this technology results in the highest print resolution.
Among the features of the operation of an inkjet printer, the following factors can be distinguished.
- Low noise level operation of the device.
- Print speed... This setting depends on the print quality; therefore, an increase in quality leads to a decrease in the number of pages per minute.
- Font and print quality... To reduce the loss of print quality due to ink spreading, various technical solutions are used, including heating of sheets, different print resolutions.
- Paper handling... For adequate operation of a color inkjet printer, paper with a density of 60 to 135 grams per square meter is needed.
- Printer head device... The main drawback of the equipment is the problem of ink drying inside the nozzle, this drawback can only be solved by replacing the print head assembly. Most modern devices have a parking mode, in which the head returns to its socket, and thus the problem of ink drying out is solved. Almost all modern devices are equipped with a nozzle cleaning system.
- High rating of models multifunctional devices equipped with CISS.
Model overview
Canon's inkjet machines are represented by the Pixma line with the TS and G series. Almost the entire line contains printers and multifunctional devices with CISS. Let's consider in order the most successful models of color inkjet equipment. Let's start with the printer Canon Pixma G1410... The device, in addition to being equipped with a continuous ink supply system, can print photos up to A4 size. The disadvantages of this model are the lack of a Wi-Fi module and a wired network interface.
Next in our ranking are multifunctional devices Canon Pixma G2410, Canon Pixma G3410 and Canon Pixma G4410... All these MFPs are united by the presence of CISS. Four ink chambers inside the enclosures are used for printing photos and documents. Black is represented by pigment dye, while color is an improved water-soluble ink. The devices are distinguished by improved image quality, and starting with the Pixma G3410, a Wi-Fi module appears.
Notable downsides to the entire Pixma G-series lineup include the lack of a USB cable. The second drawback is that the Mac OS operating system is incompatible with this series.
The Pixma TS series is represented by the following models: TS3340, TS5340, TS6340 and TS8340... All multifunctional devices are equipped with a Wi-Fi module and represent the perfect balance between affordability, versatility and functionality. The TS8340 printing system is equipped with 6 cartridges, the largest is black ink, and the remaining 5 are used for graphics and photo printing. In addition to the standard set of colors, "photo blue" has been added to reduce graininess in prints and increase color rendition. This model is equipped with automatic two-sided printing and is the only one in the entire TS series that has the ability to print on specially coated CDs.
All MFPs are equipped with touch screens, devices can be connected to the phone. A small drawback is the lack of a USB cable.
In general, the models of the TS line have an attractive ergonomic design, are reliable in operation and have a high rating among similar devices.
User manual
In order for your printer to serve you as long as possible, you must comply with the manufacturer's requirements specified in the instructions.
The basic operating rules are presented below.
- When turning off the machine and after replacing the cartridge check the position of the print head - it must be in the parking area.
- Pay attention to ink remaining signals and do not ignore the ink flow sensor in the device. Do not continue printing when ink levels are low, do not wait until the ink is completely used up to refill or replace the cartridge.
- Conduct preventive printing at least 1-2 times a week, printing several sheets.
- When refilling with ink from another manufacturer pay attention to the compatibility of the device and the paint composition.
- When refilling cartridges, ink must be injected slowly to avoid the formation of air bubbles.
- It is advisable to choose photo paper according to the manufacturer's recommendations.... To make the right choice, consider the type of paper. Matte paper is most often used for printing photographs, it does not glare, does not leave fingerprints on the surface. Due to the fairly rapid fading, photos should be stored in albums. Glossy paper, due to its high color rendering, is most often used for printing promotional items and diagrams.
Textured paper is ideal for fine art prints.
Repair
Due to ink drying, inkjet printers may experience:
- interruptions in the supply of paper or ink;
- print head problems;
- malfunctions of sensor cleaning units and other hardware breakdowns;
- overflow of the diaper with waste ink;
- bad print;
- mixing colors.
Partially these problems can be avoided by observing the points of the operating instructions. For example, a problem such as "the printer prints faintly" may well be due to a low ink level in the cartridge or air getting into the plume of the continuous ink supply system. Some of the problems are solved by diagnosing an inkjet printer or MFP. But if you can decide to replace cartridges or ink on your own, then hardware problems require specialist intervention.
When purchasing an inkjet printer, first of all determine the range of tasks for which you will need it. Based on this, it will be possible to choose the optimal model that meets your needs. All Canon products are reliable enough and offer an optimal price-performance ratio.
In the next video you will find an overview and comparison of the current line of Canon Pixma printers (MFPs).
