How and how to clean an HP printer?
Today, HP printers can be found not only in offices, but also in almost every home. This technique has served reliably for many years, but sooner or later, it needs to clean the print head. This procedure can be performed in several ways without disassembling the printer.
What can you clean?
Laser printers differ in many ways from inkjet and dot matrix printers. This applies not only to the design features, the principle of operation, but also to their cleaning. When the device starts to transfer poor quality images to the paper, this indicates that it is time to clean it. To do this, the technique must be disconnected from the mains and wait until it cools down, then remove the cartridge and gently clean it with a napkin or brush. As for the drum, it contains many fragile parts that can be damaged if you clean it yourself. Therefore, experts recommend cleaning this component of the device in service centers.
If the head is heavily soiled, use a special flushing fluid designed for the HP printer. It must be the same brand as the ink. Distilled or demineralized water is often used to remove water-soluble ink. At home, you can also prepare a mixture for cleaning, consisting of ammonia (5%) and distilled water, the proportions are 1: 10, respectively. If you need to clean the pigment dye, it is best to choose products containing isopropyl alcohol.
The ways
At the heart of HP printers is the print head. It consists of many different boards, cameras and nozzles that spray ink onto the paper. During the operation of the device, the print head must be periodically cleaned from clogged areas, otherwise the laser or inkjet printer will begin to produce poor-quality print. To do this, you can contact the specialists of the service center, or you can clean and rinse the nozzles and other components with your own hands. Today, HP printers can be cleaned using a special program or mechanically.
Software
This type of cleaning can be performed after installing the HP Solution Center software, many manufacturers provide it with the printer on a disc. If there is no installation program, then you can download it from the official website. The cleaning process itself is quick and easy, for this it is enough to start the program, having previously turned on the printing device. In the menu, the item "Printer control panel" is selected, and there the cleaning of the cartridge starts. If the device has been idle for a long time, it is recommended to repeat the procedure several times - until the printer stops giving out flaws.
Besides, you can also use a special utility for cleaning that Windows contains - it is located in the control panel of printing devices, in the "Printer settings" menu. This utility allows you to quickly clean all HP printer models without disassembling. The only thing is that this cleaning is sometimes not enough, as the nozzles will not be able to clean. In such cases, it is necessary to remove dirt manually, that is, mechanically.
Mechanical
Before proceeding with manual cleaning of the printer, it is necessary first of all to carry out a general diagnosis of the device and make it a visual inspection. This will help assess the amount of work to be done.Sometimes the technician only needs cleaning of paper particles, dirt and dust, and in some cases a "general cleaning" is needed, including washing the print head. Additionally, you should also check the CISS hose for kinks and bends, make sure the cartridges and locks are tight. If the gateway is loosely connected, air can enter the gateway, which will negatively affect the print quality.
You should definitely pay attention to the ink tanks: if they are not completely filled, then you need to top up them in such a way that there are no voids left. It is recommended to periodically rinse such containers with a special liquid. After that, the cartridge is refilled, and the test page is checked.
As for cleaning the print head, only special flushing agents should be used for it. This part of the printer quickly loses its printability, so it can only be restored by cleaning. Mechanical cleaning of the print head of HP printers is carried out in two ways: by pumping a special liquid with a syringe through the foam rubber or by soaking it. It should be noted, however, that flushing printers that use pigment inks differs in many ways from flushing devices where non-pigment-based (colored) cartridges are used. The cleaning process itself includes a number of steps.
- The first step is to make sure that all the ink on the bottom of the cartridge is soaked in the sponge. If this is not the case, the cartridge will not print further.
- Then the program cleaning starts, after which the dirt is manually removed from the nozzles. This process is complicated, so if you have no experience, then it is better to contact the specialists of the service center.
If after the performed procedure the print does not become of high quality, then you can rinse the cartridge with hot water., but not completely (it is enough to bring the cartridge to the hot water tap for a few seconds). In this case, you can wet only the side where the nozzles are located (the place through which the printing is carried out). After that, the cartridge should be well dried with a hairdryer, the air should not be hot. Cleaning ends with the launch of a special program, this can be done several times. Some printer owners prefer to clean the nozzles with pressure using an empty syringe without a needle (for this, you must first close all the holes on the cartridge except one).
Recommendations
Once you've installed your HP printers, keep in mind regular maintenance and periodic cleaning. You can remove dirt and dust from the device manually at home, but as for cleaning the print head, it is better to entrust it to professionals. If a message appears on the display of the device stating that the head needs flushing, it must be urgently taken to a service center.
Before you start cleaning the nozzles in the printer, be sure to read the instructions that came with the device. When removing dirt, avoid contact of the cloth with these elements, otherwise the dirt on the cloth will clog them. To speed up the cleaning process, it is recommended to soak the cloth in a special liquid. If your financial situation does not allow you to purchase cleaning products designed for HP printers, then they can be replaced with a simple Mr. Muscle glass cleaner.
In order to prevent heavy contamination of the equipment, it must be cleaned daily, in particular, this concerns the head and the cartridge. It is recommended to remove dust from the printer once a week, otherwise it will accumulate and get inside. Only use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the front cover.
