Dishwasher cabinets
The dishwasher is the helper in the kitchen. She can not only clean kitchen utensils cleanly and with high quality, but also save time. The article will discuss where it is better to place such a technique.
Primary requirements
When choosing a convenient place in the kitchen for the dishwasher, consider its size. The standard width of the machine is 50-60 cm. This small design manages to wash 4-6 sets of plates and cups in one session. The dishwasher cabinet must be equipped with a ventilation system. It can be placed in the form of a lattice on the side or on the back of the dishwasher (PMM), as well as make holes in the cabinet itself.
Kitchen cabinet for PMM is always taken in larger sizes than the household appliances themselves. This is done for better ventilation and removal of humid and warm air. The dimensions of the kitchen cabinet for PMM are supposedly:
- width - 600-1200 mm;
- depth - 500-600 mm;
- height - 700-800 mm for a base cabinet, and 1400-2200 mm for a pencil case.
The classic kitchen location for an integrated dishwasher is near the sink under the countertop. To integrate the dishwasher into a tall tall cabinet, it is imperative that it is also located near the sink. An oven is sometimes located on the second floor in a pencil case. But in this version, the PMM must have sufficient insulation from the heat of the oven. Because of it, condensation can form on the walls of the pencil case, which violates the aesthetics of the space. To prevent this, the wall of the case is protected with a thin metal gasket.
When installing the dishwasher, you must comply with the safety rules.
- According to sanitary standards, the distance between the PMM and the gas stove or oven must be at least 20 cm.This condition is observed so that the electronics do not fail and rubber structural elements do not deteriorate.
- For the purpose of electrical safety, the outlet must be installed in such a way that no water gets into it and there is no short circuit in the network.
- To avoid injury, it is advisable to position the PMM so that its doors open safely and do not interfere with the passage of people.
Species overview
When arranging a kitchen workspace, you need to choose a place for a dishwasher in advance, take into account where it will stand, what its dimensions and its productivity when washing cutlery. Dishwasher appliances are classified according to the installation method.
A model that is fully integrated into the kitchen set
For the built-in PMM, a drawer or niche is perfect, suitable in size and closed with a front door. This design is easy to use and looks presentable outwardly. The most expensive models have the function of fixing equipment to the floor part.
Advantages of full embedding of the PMM:
- the ability to visualize the integrity of the headset is created;
- safe for children, as it is hidden from them inside the structure;
- auxiliary insulation.
Half recessed models
A feature of such household appliances is a remote panel, which serves as a working panel. It is usually mounted at the top of the kitchen cabinet door sash. With a partial installation of the dishwasher, it is assumed free access to the dashboard and the door for loading dishes. An important point is the way of attaching the front of the cabinet to the PMM door.There are two mounting methods: hinged doors and pantograph mechanism. The hinged facade option is impractical, since the fastening of the doors is complex, and there is a gap between them.
In the pantograph mechanism, the outer cladding of the kitchen furniture is attached directly to the dishwasher door. Therefore, this system does not accumulate dirt and moisture between the panel and the door of the machine.
Freestanding equipment
It is divided into floor and table types.
- Floor machine always more stable, but there is a drawback - it is difficult to fit into a kitchen set. It is visible, and therefore it is chosen at the stage of designing and arranging the kitchen space. You just need to find a convenient place for the PMM.
- Tabletop dishwashers have small dimensions. You can wash 4 sets of dishes in one cycle. The disadvantage is the fact that it is impossible to wash large-sized dishes such as baking trays or pots. This technique is suitable for bachelor kitchens, where there are few dishes.
Floor stands
The floor stand for the dishwasher makes it possible to place the machine of various weights on the floor at a height of 15-20 cm. Such an arrangement of the PMM is uncomfortable for those who do not want to often bend over to load and unload kitchen utensils.
Pencil cases
The dishwasher can be fixed in the pencil case at any height. Perfect for people who can't bend over often. If there are small children in the house, the pencil case will help protect them from the PMM and other household appliances installed in it. They won't reach her.
The pencil case is not suitable for a small kitchen, as it will clutter it up.
How to choose?
When choosing a cabinet for PMM, very few people think in advance about its location before installing kitchen furniture. It is important to take into account where to make the socket for connecting the equipment. The curbstone should be located near the electrical wiring. Here are the basic requirements for electrical safety.
- The electrical outlet must have a waterproof housing. It is placed at a height of 45 cm from floor level.
- Be sure to make grounding.
- The dishwasher must be turned on through a differential machine.
- If the electrical wiring is not done, and a separate outlet is not allocated, then we begin with the installation of electrical communications.
There are still some points to consider.
- The cabinet is installed near the sink. The hose should be no more than 1.5 meters long. Otherwise, the drain pump will experience additional stress.
- The selected cabinet should be at least 5 cm larger than the PMM. This is necessary for ventilation.
Accommodation features
The width of the PMM case can vary from 45 cm to 60 cm. Such machines can wash 10-15 kitchen utensils at a time. Smaller machines process 4-6 items of crockery in a single session.
For the dishwasher built into the kitchen, choose the following options:
- build the car down under the sink;
- install a dishwasher in a cupboard for kitchen utensils or cereals;
- place the equipment in a hanging pedestal.
When installing a compact dishwasher measuring 45x60 cm under the sink, it is worthwhile to calculate in advance the load of the machine during the day. This is done in order to rationally use water resources. A standard siphon under the sink will prevent the dishwasher from being installed. For installation, take a compact siphon, which has a sinuous pipe shape. When integrating PMM into kitchen furniture, you can put the car in a cabinet of a suitable size, remaking it for equipment.
Some people place the dishwasher in a wall cabinet. However, this option has many disadvantages:
- the fastening of the cabinet to the wall must have high strength and reliability to withstand the load;
- water hoses located on the wall will spoil the interior of the kitchen;
- placing dirty dishes will be uncomfortable.
If the choice fell on embedded hardware, the niche needs to be redesigned.
- Using a screwdriver, loosen the screws that attach the bedside table to the table top.
- Remove the fasteners that connect the dishwasher to the adjacent drawers.
- Take out the bedside table to an open place.
- Free the cabinet from the internal shelves, dismantle the panel at the back and top. Only the side partitions and the front door remain.
- Leave the side panels at the front and rear plinths.
- Make a hole in the side bulkhead for attaching the hoses. The hole must be made from the sink side. It is easier to connect the PMM this way.
- We install the walls and plinth and fasten them with ties.
- The preliminary work is completed, and you can proceed to connecting the dishwasher to the water supply and drain.
- Slide the machine body into the prepared niche and set the legs in height. With the help of fasteners, you need to fix the PMM firmly so that it does not move during operation.
Perform the work sequentially:
- connect the hoses to the body;
- push them into the prepared holes;
- connect the drain hose to the siphon;
- connect the water intake hose to the water pipe, seal the joints with special tape and a clamp;
- plug the plug into the outlet, and turn on the PMM.
The dishwasher can be set up and connected by yourself in a few hours.
