Only by understanding how it works, and how it differs from turbo drying, from other types of drying, you can eliminate mistakes when choosing a model. It is also desirable to clarify how great the effectiveness of this method of work.
What it is?
In the dishwasher, after the dishes have been cleaned properly, they remain damp, and you cannot use it in this state or even just put it in the place of permanent storage. Therefore, the designers necessarily provide for one or another drying option. Its choice is largely determined by financial considerations. And just the condensation drying scheme is most beneficial from this point of view. It is it that is used in budget modifications of dishwashers, but this option can also be typical for premium-level equipment.
The process starts immediately after the end of the wash. All conditions have already been created for him. You don't need to make any additional efforts to the technique.
Everything happens in a natural and logical way. Ultimately, all dishes are dry without wasting energy.
Principle of operation
It is important to understand the physical essence of the process, how it works in practice. During the washing process, the dishes become noticeably warmer. The water evaporates from the surface and then settles on the cooler walls of the dishwasher. Such drops flow down by themselves. To enhance evaporation, at the end of washing the dishes are poured over with hot water that does not contain additional substances.
Evaporation and subsequent deposition of water vapor in physics is precisely what is called condensation. A similar process goes naturally, by itself. The precipitated moisture enters the sewer by gravity. There is no need to manually remove it. Condensation allows you to eliminate additional energy costs and generally save money when using the dishwasher.
The downside is that the dishes will be dried for a long time: usually it takes 2-3 hours, and sometimes more. In some cases, divorces remain.
Difference from other types of drying
There are a number of other options for drying dishes. The active option implies enhanced bottom heating using a special electric circuit. This approach is typical for American dishwasher designs. Steam is sometimes released by automatic opening of the door. Active drying loses to the condensation method, because it is accompanied by a substantial energy consumption.
It is also important to understand how the condensation method differs from turbo drying. A turbocharged device is technically more difficult.
During the drying process, dishes and cutlery will be periodically sprinkled with dry steam heated to a high temperature. The presence of a heating element is mandatory, without which it is impossible to warm up the steam. Its exact direction is provided by a special fan. The heater and fan are located in a special compartment that provides reliable protection against water. Turbo drying speed is noticeably higher than that of condensation drying, however:
- the design is more complicated;
- the dishwasher is more massive and heavier;
- more energy is consumed;
- the likelihood of breakage increases;
- the device will be quite expensive.
In some cases, intensive drying is also used. This system eliminates the need for fans.The movement of the air jets is ensured by the differential pressure. The body is equipped with a special channel that allows air to pass from the outside. Since the temperature inside the sump is lower than in the wash cabinet, nothing else needs to be done to circulate the air.
The fan and heating element in this case, as in the condensation dryer, are not needed. Drying is somewhat faster. However, it depends on the specifics of the specific system and the selected mode.
Both types of devices do not consume electricity.
There is also the so-called zeolite technique, which uses a moisture-absorbing safe mineral zeolite. The method differs little in productivity from the condensation drying method. The process is relatively fast. Electricity is not spent on the procedure at all. Zeolite dishwashers are very expensive, although they have good prospects.
Efficiency
In the vast majority of cases, the choice has to be made between condensation drying and turbo drying. From an economic point of view, condensation is clearly preferable. However, it is not suitable if you need to dry the dishes quickly: you will have to wait several hours.
Most often, you have to put the cutlery in the evening so that the procedure is over during the night. Therefore, it is necessary for the correct choice to set a clear priority: speed or saving money.
It should be noted that manufacturers are modernizing approaches to drying washed dishes. Advanced designs often have a post-drying option. So, in the Electrolux technique there is a function of natural additional drying called AirDry. Additionally, it is worth paying attention to the class of work. Category A in condensing devices is very rare, much more often they belong to category B - that is, in some places, drops and drips will still remain.
