The advantages of the ball structure:

• ensuring absolute tightness, thanks to which the devices can be used even in gas pipeline systems;
• the ability to withstand high pressure indicators;
• simple operation - to shut off the coolant supply, you need to turn the handle or lever 90 degrees.

Angle ball valves also have some disadvantages. For example, they are not recommended to be used to partially block the passage of the coolant. Adjusting the flow will lead to a quick failure of the mechanism, since its tightness will be lost. A broken device cannot be repaired.

There is less demand for valve angle faucets for heated towel rails. Their principle of operation is simple: due to the worm gear, the stem with an elastic seal is pressed against the seat with a hole, as a result of which the passage is closed.

Valve design advantages:

• the ability to adjust the pressure of the coolant;
• the ability to withstand high pressure in the system, its sharp jumps;
• the possibility of self-repair of the crane in case of failure.

Valve taps have significant drawbacks. These include the rapid wear of the movable gasket, due to which the structure ceases to provide tightness. The valve mechanism is more complicated than ball valves. Because of this, it is less reliable and less durable. Because of these disadvantages, valve devices are often used only where it is required to regulate the flow of the coolant.

Angle taps for heated towel rails differ not only in design, but also in material. The price of the product, its reliability and durability depend on it. Devices are made from such materials.

• Bronze and brass. These non-ferrous metals resist the formation of limescale well, which makes the valves durable. The only significant drawback of brass and bronze valves is their higher cost compared to products made from other materials.

• Stainless steel. It is distinguished by its durability, it is not susceptible to corrosion, it is resistant to aggressive media. Scale gradually settles on stainless steel taps, which is why they are less durable compared to plumbing products made of colored materials.

• Polypropylene... It is characterized by weak strength, which is why corner cranes made of it are not in demand.

• Silumin... Shut-off valves made of silicon and aluminum alloy fail quickly.

Manufacturers offer corner taps for heated towel rails of various shapes and colors. In the domestic market, chrome-plated and nickel-plated products are in demand. Devices can be white, black, colored, glossy or matte - the choice is huge, so you can choose a solution for any coil for modern and outdated interior styles.

Cranes are manufactured in different diameters. The most popular products are considered "chrome" with a diameter of 1/2 and 3/4 inches.

When buying, you need to pay attention to the technical characteristics of the angle crane:

• diameter of its nominal bore;
• Operating temperature range;
• what pressure the product is designed for;
• what class of valve tightness is assigned to the shut-off valves.

Plumbers recommend giving preference to devices made of brass and bronze or stainless steel. It is better to refuse to buy plastic products - even the most durable polypropylene cannot last as long as metal.

When choosing, you need to look at the following factors:

• shape - the model should be not only reliable and durable, but also aesthetic;
• connection type - coupling, welded or flanged;
• dimensions - before buying, you should measure the pipes and the distance in the corners and from the wall;
• type of valve control - handle, butterfly, valve or lever.

It is important to pay attention to the color of the fitting. For example, if a heated towel rail is made in a dark color scheme, you should not buy a white faucet - in this case it will look out of place.

To connect a crane with your own hands you will need:

• grinder (can be replaced with scissors for metal);
• adjustable wrench;
• lerka;
• calibrator;
• FUM tape.

To install the shut-off valves, you need to perform a number of steps.

1. Drain the system.
2. Cut out a section of the pipeline (in the place where the crane is planned to be installed).
3. Cut the threads at the ends of the branch pipes with a scraper. If the pipes are plastic, you need to chamfer, remove burrs, align the section shape with a calibrator.
4. Wind up the FUM tape (at least 5 turns). The seal will protect the connection from deformation.
5. Screw in the tap and fix it with an adjustable wrench.
6. Check the tightness at the joints. If leaks are found, it is necessary to seal the joints with a special filler.

It is necessary to periodically check the fixation points, as the threaded connection may come apart and leak. When disassembling the valve, the seal cannot be reused. If you need to disassemble the system, you need to take a new reel.
