A towel is not only a beautiful accessory that can decorate any interior, but also an extremely useful and necessary thing. It creates a certain coziness in the bathroom, maintains the overall style and allows you to feel real warmth and tenderness after taking a bath or shower. For many, the choice of a high-quality and comfortable towel is a real problem, since the goods offered in the modern textile market are not always of good quality and convenient parameters. To choose a beautiful, and most importantly, comfortable set of towels for the body, face and hands, you need to carefully study the issue.

Composition

There are many options for the composition of towels, and the quality of the purchased product will depend on it. Experts consider natural cotton to be the best material for a towel, because it surpasses its competitors in many respects. They are the most expensive, but really high quality.

  • Look out for terry cottons from Egypt or Pakistan. These countries have a temperate climate all year round, long-staple cotton grows, from which chic towels are obtained. They are suitable for daily use and frequent washings, because they contain long and strong threads. Such options are striking in their special softness and long service life, which fully justifies the rather high cost compared to Chinese and Turkish counterparts.
  • Silk threads are often added to the composition, but such products in most cases are not of good quality. In addition, a silky towel does not absorb moisture well, so it is not suitable for bathing options and can be used as much as possible for hands or face.
  • Recently, bamboo towels have been very popular. Manufacturers claim that they are hypoallergenic, absorb moisture easily, are soft and have a long service life. In addition, fungus does not start in such products. If you compare with the same linen towels, then this is a serious advantage. In fact, bamboo fiber is an artificially made material, but the production process is such that there is a minimum of "chemistry" in the composition, and the structure of the canvas is rather porous, which allows it to cope well with moisture.
  • Jacquard attracts with its external qualities, but in terms of convenience it is not as good as it might seem at first glance. You need to look closely at this type of material in order to find a really good option.
  • For sports and hiking, there are special towels made of hypoallergenic microfiber. They are compact, dry quickly and absorb moisture well. They are quite affordable at cost.
  • Linen towels are mainly used in the kitchen. They are distinguished by their natural composition and environmental friendliness, but using such hand and face towels is difficult: the structure of flax makes the towels a little prickly, and when wiped, they give a peeling or massage effect.

Density

Close attention should be paid to density. It is indicated on the label and allows you to understand how much moisture the towel will absorb before it gets wet. The term of use also depends on the density, therefore hand towels should have indicators from 450-600 g / m 2, 700 g / m 2 will have a product for feet. If there is no such information on the label, then you should ask the seller.

The absorbency and quality also depend heavily on the length of the pile. For home use, choose towels with a pile length of 3.5 mm, and products with a finer nap are suitable for use on the beach. Products with long pile get wet quickly, and from this they fail faster. The ideal pile length is considered to be 5 mm. A product with a pile of more than 8 mm will look untidy after the first wash.

To check the quality yourself, you need to twitch the threads a little. Loss of threads indicates poor weaving, and it is better to refuse to purchase such a product. The seams should be straight and sewn with two threads, and the stitch thickness should not be more than 6 mm.

According to the statistics and indicators of manufacturers, the typical life of a towel when it remains in good condition is three or four years. However, following all the instructions for washing and ironing the product, you can significantly extend this time, especially if the original high-quality towel was chosen correctly.

Dimension Chart
