All about watering taps

It is not always possible to water the plants yourself. In this case, near summer cottages, gardens, a special irrigation water supply system is equipped.

A watering tap is a device that is used to irrigate areas planted with vegetation. This mechanism is part of the water supply system. It is laid from the main water supply. An irrigation water supply system is built either on the surface of the earth or at a depth of about 70 cm. For the irrigation system, a tap is attached to the water supply system, which is equipped with a valve and a device for connecting a hose.

Watering devices are indoor and outdoor. The internal ones are used for cleaning the floor in rooms, for example, in baths, laundries. Outdoor systems are most often installed in dachas, vegetable gardens and gardens, as well as in garden and park plots.

The main parameter that is important to consider when installing a watering tap is the diameter of the hose attached to it. You can use one tap, but fittings of different sizes, that is, nozzles. They mainly produce fittings with diameters 1/2 and 3/4. In addition to the diameter, the materials of manufacture are also important. The water taps are made of plastic, brass, bronze and stainless steel. The wear resistance of the product depends on the material.

Plastic faucets rarely last 2 seasons, however, their price is significantly lower than that of others. Chrome plated brass is very tough and corrosion resistant. Faucets made of this alloy will not darken over time. Bronze is used mainly to give the products an antique look.

You can divide the watering taps according to the following criteria.

• The outdoor mixer is installed directly on the wall by making a hole in it. The facade irrigation system is connected to the main water supply. To use the wall tap, connect a hose of a suitable diameter and open the valve.

• Indoor watering equipment attaches to the kitchen faucet. A hose is attached to it, pulled through a window or door and used for watering and washing sidewalk alleys.

• The advantage of garden and street hydrants is their frost resistance. The water supply is brought out to the street by an underground route. It is laid to a depth of 0.5 to 3.5 meters. The hydrant body is designed in such a way that it empties itself after each water supply. The watering hose is secured with couplings. Water flow is regulated by means of a padlock.

• Plastic cranes are the cheapest. Moreover, they have minimal wear resistance. Moreover, you should not install plastic products on the street. These mixers are more suitable for domestic needs inside the house.
• Brass the mixers are very weather resistant. Such taps are most often installed outdoors.
• Bronze taps are not subject to corrosion, are resistant to aggressive media. Most often decorative mixers are made of bronze.
• Stainless steel taps are able to serve for more than one season, since their wear resistance is very high.

• Ball valve mechanism does not allow adjusting the pressure, but does not stop working in very dirty water. Opens with a lever that needs to be turned 90.

• Double water intake consists of two cranes pointing in opposite directions. In addition, their diameter may vary, so there is no need to buy different fittings.

• Screw design works well in polluted water. Withstands a maximum of 2-3 seasons. The axle box crane needs to be repaired: change gaskets, rubber seals, stuffing box packing.

• Ceramic faucet almost doesn't need to be repaired. The only drawback is the loss of performance due to water pollution.

• Decorative mixers differ only in appearance. Most often, the body is decorated with floral ornaments, carved patterns. However, replacing a broken valve can be complicated due to the inconsistency with the exterior of the case.

• Anti-freeze tap body is designed in such a way that water does not hang in it. Also, in the case of facade installation, the mixer is deepened into the wall as much as possible. Of course, the anti-freezing properties of the water intake will be preserved if it is installed in the wall of the heated room.

For the installation of irrigation systems, couplings are most often used. To install a garden tap in this way, you need the following.

• Wind a polymeric sealed thread on the tap thread.
• Inspect the coupling for nicks or rust.
• Remove rust, if present.
• Tighten the valve by hand until it stops.
• Turn the water taps to a stem position of 90 using an adjustable wrench or a gas wrench.

Before installing an external faucet, a hole is drilled in the wall and a branch pipe is removed from the house. Its thickness should be slightly greater than the thickness of the wall. It is better to remove the branch pipe at an angle of 1-3, this contributes to an improved water flow. When it comes to watering small garden plots, a watering mixer with a diameter of 15-20 mm will do.

Plastic adapters are used to connect the internal water taps. This will keep the plumbing equipment intact and ensure the tightness of the structure. The tap is placed indoors at a height of 60-70 cm. When installing a frost-resistant outdoor hydrant, it is necessary to conduct a water supply system to a depth below the freezing of the soil.

For to protect the sprinkler system from frost, a cast iron or steel carpet is used. It is a cylindrical cap with openings for access to locks and water supply valves. For ease of construction, the carpet began to be made with the addition of plastic.

To remove the irrigation system from the well, you will need a whole network of hoses, couplings and adapters. To begin with, a well pump is lowered into the well. An adapter is installed on it, then the pipe is brought up to the top of the well. Next, a watering tap is connected to it, and a hose for watering is connected to it.

In winter, the well is covered with a lid like a hatch gate. To drain the water, a drain valve is installed between the pump and the adapter. The modern variety of irrigation systems allows you to choose a water taps for any area, be it a small garden or a large green area.
