For gardeners, and not only for them, at times it may be necessary to get rid of unnecessary trees, shrubs or their remains in the form of a well-fixed stump or root system. They can interfere, obscure the light, cause various insects to appear on the balcony and in the house, and more. Fortunately, There are many ways to solve this problem that can help the tree dry out and die faster. Let's consider them.

Destruction chemicals

Most often, in order for unnecessary shoots to die in a short time period, various chemicals are predominantly used - herbicides and arboricides. Herbicides such as Roundup, Tornado, Zenkor, Hurricane Forte, Prometrin and MaysTer can be used to eliminate young trees. These drugs are often used in suburban areas in order to eliminate weeds. Herbicides are highly effective and fast. They just need to water the plant at the root. Herbicides of systemic action are especially effective, since, once they hit any part of the plant, they immediately begin to act on it.

Please note that powerful herbicides harm not only unnecessary trees, shrubs or other growths, but also affect the entire soil as a whole. Because of this, after the removal of the plant, it is impossible to plant other plantings on the site for at least a year. If we are talking about older trees that have already managed to grow, then you will have to resort to stronger drugs, which are arboricides. In general, arboricides are also classified as herbicides, but if the latter are capable of fighting absolutely any vegetation, then the former are intended only for the destruction of bushes and trees.

Among these drugs, the most popular are Arbonal and Arsenal. These drugs can inhibit the growth and development of an unnecessary plant, and also contribute to the destruction of its bark in a short period of time. To use arboricidal agents in business, it is necessary to inject the tree into the trunk with it, spray its foliage, or pour over its root. The procedure for eliminating a plant with such means is recommended to be carried out in early spring, otherwise there is a risk of a toxic substance entering the crops you need. If it becomes necessary to eliminate unnecessary growth in the midst of the season, then it is recommended to act in a different way.

In this case, it is most often recommended to make a hollow in a tree, and then place a poisonous agent there. Thus, you can get rid of unnecessary vegetation, and at the same time save crops that are useful to you.

However, please note that after carrying out such procedures, it is strongly not recommended to plant and harvest on this site for at least another year. Besides, chemicals can also be used to combat unwanted vegetation. Among them, sodium and ammonium nitrate, as well as "Pikloram", are especially distinguished. If we talk about sodium nitrate, then it is most often used in order to get rid of the remains of a tree, namely: from a stump. However, it can also be used against mature plants. This tool is used as follows: a small hole is drilled in a tree and a chemical agent is introduced there. There is a simpler option: you can simply pour sodium nitrate around the plant so that it absorbs the soil. However, if the first method is faster in terms of action, and it will take only a year for the tree to dry out, then in the second case, you will have to wait several years.

If we talk about ammonium nitrate, then it is in many ways similar to the aforementioned sodium nitrate. They use it in the same way. However, it is worth noting the differences between the two. So, ammonium nitrate is made on the basis of urea. Because of this feature, this product promotes the decomposition of the woody part of the plant. Most often it is used to process hemp and open root system for their further removal from the site. "Pikloram" is also an effective remedy that can actively contribute to the fact that an unnecessary tree will soon die. This chemical has an effect directly on the roots of the overgrowth, inhibits them, which is why it dries up in a fairly short time.

Note that when using all of the above means, you must strictly follow the safety rules, since almost all of them are highly toxic. In order not to harm yourself, follow the instructions strictly and use personal protective equipment.

Folk remedies

If you are not a big fan of chemicals, and you still need to eliminate the unnecessary tree, then you can resort to the old "old-fashioned" methods.

Copper nail

This method is quite simple: you need to hammer a nail made of copper into the tree trunk. So, the growth will begin to be poisoned by copper oxide and will soon begin to dry out. The method is most effective for small trees, among which there are apple, plum and peach. Just one nail will kill them in a season. If we talk about large trees like poplar and others, then in this case the method will be ineffective. To see a real result, you will need not one nail, but a dozen or more, which is a lot in financial terms, which will not be the most expedient method of struggle.

Salt

Another common folk method that does not require high costs. You just need to prepare a highly concentrated salt-based solution. They need to water the plant, especially carefully supplying it with a salt mixture to the root zone. You don't even need to prepare any solutions, but simply sprinkle abundantly the soil in the area of the tree with salt and bury it there. The plant will dry out for about 1-2 months or more - the timing depends solely on how large the tree is.

Liana celastrus

And this method, although it is popular, may seem very exotic. It implies replanting next to an unnecessary overgrowth of a vine, which is popularly referred to as a bladder or a woodworm. This plant, as it develops, begins to cling to the trunk with its thorns, actively grows and deprives the tree of lighting, as well as the ability to get the necessary nutrients.

The only drawback of such a tool is that it does not differ in high speed of action.

Acid

The method is one of the most effective. A small tree can die in just a couple of weeks. You just need to drill a small hole in the tree with an inclination to the center and fill it with any acid - acetic, formic, hydrochloric, you can also use gasoline, diesel fuel and other similar substances. Further, the gap made must be sealed with clay, so that the acid does not evaporate and does not provoke the appearance of an unpleasant odor.

How to delete?

Most often, they remove either very young trees that have not yet managed to grow to large sizes, or well-rooted stumps and strong tree roots. First of all, when cutting a tree, you should always make sure that its cut remains fresh. If the stump has been located on your territory for a long time, then you just need to update the cut place, getting rid of a small part of its upper layer. Next, you need to prepare a mixture of herbicide, water and a small amount of oil. After that, the stump is processed. If it is small in diameter, then it is necessary to supply its entire area with the mixture, otherwise it is enough to treat its outer part by 5-10 centimeters with the mixture.

Another effective method is the use of ammonia (note that it is forbidden to use it on peat soil) or potassium nitrate or urea. A stump with a strong root system with a diameter of 1 meter can die in a year.

To use the drug, you need to make a separate hole for it, place it there and close it with something, otherwise there is a high risk that it will be washed out by rains. When the stump completely dies, it is removed with the help of fire or in a more time-consuming way - with a simple shovel.
