If you are interested in specific models of plush bedspreads, pay attention to the following: these products differ not only in color, but also in size. The options are usually:

  • Plaid blanket. Usually these are products with dimensions of 150 × 210 cm, 120 × 200 cm. They can be used both for a bed and for a sofa.
  • Plaid bedspread. Most often these are products 210 × 250 cm, however, when choosing such a bedspread, it is better to focus on the size of your bed. Too small a blanket can look ugly, too large will clutter up the bedroom.

Quilts for kids are often made of mink plush. It is microfiber, it is hypoallergenic and pleasant to the touch.

Color solutions

Experienced designers recommend choosing a blanket based on the style of the room. It is best to choose a blanket for the interior as a whole. The most popular options are:

  • Everyone calls the most popular shade white, but this is not a very practical option - such a blanket will have to be washed too often.
  • A milky or beige shade will help create a very cozy and homely atmosphere.
  • Brown and gray colors, all kinds of neutral tones are very popular.
  • Many people prefer bright and juicy shades - rich blue, burgundy, purple, yellow.
  • Romantic people often buy pink and purple items.
  • To decorate children's rooms, multi-colored fluffy bedspreads are often used, as well as products with original patterns.

When choosing a plush bedspread, professional designers recommend:

  1. To completely abandon sharp color transitions.
  2. Try to avoid clumsy items.
  3. Choose a blanket that is somewhat lighter than finishing materials and furniture.

Selection Tips

The choice of a plaid knitted from plush threads depends on various moments that can play a decisive role for you.

If you need to use a blanket as a blanket for an armchair, bed or sofa, then it makes no sense to spend money on the purchase of a product made from natural threads. A synthetic bedspread would be quite a suitable option.

If you have long wanted to purchase such a warm product that will be pleasant to cover yourself on cold evenings, then you need to pay attention to woolen or high-quality cotton blankets.

The question of the size of the pile is also important here: a long pile will look more catchy and beautiful, but this is not very convenient with active use. Such pile “breaks down” much faster, gets dirty and becomes completely unusable.

Products with a thick, but not very high pile can look stylish - and at the same time are considered the most practical. You can cover yourself with such a product without fear that it will quickly become unusable.

Acrylic long-sleeved plaid is in demand. This fabric does not accumulate dust and will last as long as possible. The quality of the product with sleeves is also important, how to be safe for people who are prone to allergies.

You can choose a plush bedspread with a long or not very high pile, looped or torn terry, depending on how often the product will be used. There are also jacquard products - blankets with images on both sides. These are most often plush blankets for children.

How to care?

From whatever canvas the blanket is created, the need to wash it one day will arise anyway. This product (like many other household items) quickly accumulates dirt.

Consider the following helpful tips:

  • Always buy special liquid care products, or even better, quality plush care gels. They dissolve much better in water, they will not get stuck between the fibers of the product.
  • There is no need to wrinkle and twist the product too much. Both natural and synthetic fabric can deform, and it will be impossible to return the product to its shape.
  • If you are going to wash a bedspread with an elongated pile, you need to shake it thoroughly, collect all the litter that is entangled in the fibers.
  • When washing in a washing machine, be sure to gently roll the blanket into a loose roll - with the fibers inward, to maintain their direction and even distribution.
  • You should not squeeze the product, it is better to let the water simply drain by placing the blanket in the bathroom. When all the water has drained off, the blanket will need to be wrapped with a piece of good cotton fabric - so the liquid will be absorbed faster.
  • You need to dry the plush product on a flat surface - at normal (not aggressive) temperature, away from a radiator or heater, away from the rays of the sun.
  • When the cover is dry, the bristles can be brushed very gently with a soft-bristled brush.

Wool, cotton, bamboo, natural silk and fur are not suitable for high temperatures. In this case, the washing temperature cannot be higher than 35 degrees.

Non-natural materials used to create bedspreads with extended pile include fleece, acrylic, polyester and synthetic fur. These blankets are easy to care for, they are more durable and absolutely hypoallergenic.

Synthetic products (like bedspreads made from natural materials) must be washed using a special product. The water temperature for such bedspreads is 30 degrees, and acrylic and synthetic fur will retain their characteristics even at 40-42 degrees.

If you can wash it in a machine or by hand, it is better to choose the latter option. Synthetic fibers “do not like” mechanical stress.

Consider the following:

  1. Immerse the blanket in the special detergent solution for 30 minutes without wringing it out or lifting it. Then drain the water and use a fresh but well-concentrated solution. Gently knead the blanket in soapy water with your hands, but do not stretch it.
  2. Drain the detergent solution and refill with plain clean water. You need to rinse the product as carefully as you washed the blanket before.
  3. When all the substance for washing is rinsed out of the canvas, you will need to put the blanket on a special horizontal grate so that the water can drain.
  4. Spread the wet item on the table, carefully leveling the corners, and pull the edges. Let it dry in the usual way - and then lightly comb with a brush.
