Glass candlesticks: what are they and how to care?
Lighting plays an important role in creating a home atmosphere. Candles help create a sense of celebration or add romance to a dinner. These light sources are decorated with beautiful candlesticks that serve both decorative and practical functions. Many people prefer glass products. Let's consider their features and varieties.
Peculiarities
A candlestick allows the candle to be held in one position and often shields it from the environment. It eliminates the risk of accidental fire, the ingress of melted wax on furniture and other surfaces. In addition, it can be a wonderful decoration even if the candle is not lit. One of the most commonly used materials for the production of such products is glass. Due to the peculiarities of the operation of objects, manufacturers use not ordinary, but hardened and practically unbreakable material.
The glassware is very exquisite. They seem weightless and fit perfectly into any interior. For the manufacture of candlesticks, transparent, frosted and colored glass are used. The sizes and shapes of the models are different. The assortment includes both vintage-style options and ultra-modern products.
You can find a set of compact tealight models in the store, or purchase a fairly large item designed for a large light source.
Varieties
Consider the possible design options for glass candlesticks.
Classic
If your interior is designed in a classic style, you can complement it with matching candlesticks. For example, it can be a product on a high curly leg, designed for one candle, or a vintage candelabrum - a decorative branched stand for several candles. Usually, there are two- and three-arm versions on sale, although if you wish, you can also find a device designed for a larger number of light sources. Models made in the form of tall wine glasses or cocktail glasses look interesting.
Some products are complemented by gilding, exquisite patterns, glass beads-drops hanging beautifully on the sides. Combinations of transparent and frosted glass look spectacular. Sometimes glass elements are combined with metal.
Modern
More laconic candlesticks are suitable for a minimalist interior. It can be an inverted transparent flask, a ball or square with a hole for a candle, or maybe a product in the form of a straight glass or shot glass. In such models, small candles are completely hidden. There are options that are glass wide stands. They are designed for candles in sleeves. There are interesting items that resemble inverted wine glasses.
Modern transparent candlesticks are distinguished by their simplicity of shapes and clear lines. There is no abundance of elaborate details and complex patterns. Such products perfectly fit into the aesthetics of the fashionable Scandinavian style today.
For those who prefer bright colors, manufacturers offer multi-colored models of various shapes - both monochromatic and with patterns. You can purchase products in delicate or juicy colors. Variants in the form of golden or black glasses are very popular, the pattern on which seems to be cut out of the background.
When you light a candle, the object transforms, lighting up with bright stars.
Unusual shape
If you prefer original pieces, you can choose a model in the shape of a rose, lily or other flower. You can buy a product depicting an angel holding a candle in his hands.
The original solution is a glass structure in the form of a table lamp with a shade. The candle acts as a light bulb here.
For specific cases
If you only need candlesticks for a specific holiday, you can purchase a model with a suitable design. For example, products with the image of snowflakes, Christmas trees, snowmen and the like are suitable for celebrating the New Year and Christmas.
For Halloween, manufacturers offer closed candlesticks with matching black patterns (ghosts, bats). A pumpkin-shaped model made of colored frosted glass is ideal.
A universal solution is to buy a wide candlestick with a built-in internal holder for a small tea candle. This allows you to put on the bottom of the product decor appropriate to the occasion (rose petals, beads, cones, shiny New Year's rain, and so on).
Care
Caring for glass products is easy. It is enough just to periodically wash them in warm water and soap or ordinary detergent. Preferably hand wash using a soft sponge. You should not put the candlesticks in the dishwasher (especially if there are residues of paraffin on them).
It is necessary to remove paraffinic contamination delicately. It is undesirable to use sharp objects and hard sponges for this.
Otherwise, you can ruin the appearance of the item by leaving scratches on it.
First, place the product in the freezer. After a few hours, large particles of paraffin can be easily removed by hand. Small dirt will be removed by subsequent washing of the product in hot water (but not in boiling water). Some users advise to melt the paraffin remaining on the glass with hot air from a hair dryer and then gently clean the product. After washing, the candlestick should be wiped with a soft cloth or towel so that, when dry, drops of water do not leave streaks on it.
