Rattan swing: types, shapes and sizes
Passion for exotic materials and designs is quite understandable. This allows you to "dilute" the monotonous standardized interior with expressive notes. But still, it is worth considering simple rules that will help avoid serious mistakes.
Peculiarities
Rattan swings can be an attractive solution - however, only if they fit into the interior correctly. And the first requirement is the formation of an unusual appearance of the space. If there is just traditional furniture around, you will get not an interesting, but rather an absurd composition. Finding the right environment can be tricky, but the result is worth the effort.
Suspended on top or simply swinging on a solid support, the chair allows children to play and adults to relax.
Positive and negative sides
The seating rattan swing is different:
- fortress;
- flexibility almost at the level of orthopedic seats;
- low weight;
- minimum requirements for care;
- long-term use;
- external attraction.
Although the structure may appear fragile in appearance, it will carry loads of up to 100 kg. If a high-quality steel frame is used inside, the permissible weight increases by another 50 kg. At the same time, rigidity does not interfere with adapting to the anatomical features of people and to the position of those sitting in the chair. When natural rattan is used for weaving, the total weight will be approximately 20 kg.
The synthetic material is somewhat heavier, but the difference is small. Such a weight can easily be held even on a tree branch. And when you need to move the chair to another place or transport it, there is no need to involve movers.
The artificial material is wiped with a dry cloth. And also it can be vacuum cleaned, and if it is heavily soiled, washing with warm water is required.
Careful care and maintenance of good conditions allows rattan to be used for up to 40 years. As for weaknesses, a wicker egg swing made of artificial or natural rattan is bad in that:
- are expensive;
- out of place in many styles (baroque, gothic);
- mounted rather difficult;
- take up a lot of space.
Natural material or synthetics
Natural rattan is far ahead in terms of convenience for those using such a swing. Even if it has not been processed, the appearance will still be attractive. There is no risk of allergies at all, the staining process is quite easy. But like any wood, natural rattan is damaged by water. Even careful special processing does not guarantee that the chair standing on the street will retain its qualities for a long time.
Fungal infection will also be a big problem.
The plastic has a wide variety of colors, is ideally resistant to various weather conditions, and can be washed without any risk.
But at the same time, you should remember about:
- faint but unavoidable odor;
- slightly larger mass;
- the risk of the release of toxic substances (if the technology is violated).
Parameters and varieties
Most people still prefer artificial rattan. If such a decision is made, you need to pay attention to the features of a particular chair. The classic format implies the presence of a backrest, armrests. The difference from simple floor versions is that there are no legs, and the product is suspended from the ceiling. Such furniture is useful primarily as an opportunity to relax.
Option in the form of a swing - differs from the street counterpart only in greater elegance. It is not suitable for leisure, but children will be happy with such furniture. The disadvantage is that the swing can only be installed in the interior of the loft and eco. If the house is decorated differently, you need to abandon this type of chairs, or place them in the garden. The “basket” or “nest” format does not have a back, it turns in different directions, which is very popular with children.
