How is the gas stove replaced?

Gas stoves provide owners with the opportunity to prepare food without spending special money on it. They have long been included in everyday life, have become an important part of everyday life. An old gas stove that has served its life must be replaced with a new one for safety reasons. After the end of this limit, the tightness of the burner can break at any time and provoke an explosion. To prevent such serious consequences and at the same time continue to use the stove, after the end of the service life of the apparatus, specialists are invited to check and maintain it. However, GOST sets a strict upper limit - after 20 years of operation, the plate must be replaced.

Additional reasons for replacing the plate may be the following:

• non-compliance with the latest safety standards (applies to outdated, long-discontinued models);
• breakage beyond repair;
• the user's desire.

Typically, customers want to replace the stove if the kitchen has been remodeled. The installation of a new kitchen unit and the dimensions of the old stove did not fit into the updated footage of the room.

To change a gas stove, you need to have the following devices, equipment, documents:

• new stove - if the client does not have the right to a preferential purchase, the equipment is purchased and delivered to them independently at their own expense;
• new serviceable equipment, for example, flexible gas hose, connection elements, sealing material - this is required if the old one is out of order;
• auxiliary equipment - if the connection to the riser is rigid, a welding machine will be required; if the design provides for a gas hose, the connection is equipped without the use of welding;
• if, as a result of the redevelopment of the apartment, a new stove is installed in another room, it will be necessary to arrange an agreement with the gas service of the settlement;
• after completion of work on a new stove, registration must be issued at the local gas service.

The connection of the stoves is carried out by employees of the local gas service, since they are licensed for this type of activity.They should be contacted to install new equipment. The cost of their services is low, the user is provided with a guarantee for the operability and safety of the equipment, which will take effect from the moment of connection. Gas workers need to be called in the following way: they draw up an application addressed to the head of the gas service, await his consideration. After some time, the customer will be informed of the time and date of the visit of the masters.

The employees of the gas institution who came to the call must present their certificates, they must be wearing special uniforms. On the spot, a contract for the provision of services, an estimate, an act of performance must be drawn up, a stamp must be affixed to the plate passport. Payment is made by the client according to the receipt presented to him through the bank. An alternative option is to contact a private licensed company that has the right to connect gas appliances.

The user can change the stove himself, but this process is unsafe, so it must be carried out with extreme caution, strictly following the safety rules. The work must be performed by a person with a certain amount of knowledge about gas pipelines and gas appliances. It is extremely useful to study all the characteristics of the connected equipment before starting work. If the stove is connected without the participation of gas service workers, the guarantee for the stove is counted from the moment it is sold in the store, there will be no guarantee for the connection itself.

After connecting the stove on your own, you need to invite a gas master to inspect, approve the connection and make a note about this in the documentation.

In a private house, the owners can receive gas from the mains or use the fuel autonomously, periodically purchasing it in cylinders. If cylinders are used, they connect the stove on their own or pay for the services of invited craftsmen.

In the Russian Federation, there is a law according to which some citizens can receive the service of replacing gas equipment without payment. In a municipal apartment, as well as in a privatized one, a free stove will be provided to the client in the following cases:

• the old slab is on the balance sheet of the state (does not depend on who owns the apartment);
• the owners of the apartment have the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, USSR, Socialist Labor, have the Order of Glory, participants in the Second World War, enjoy subsidies from housing and communal services;
• the apartment is only occupied by tenants who have reached their turn for housing.

Even at the stage of purchasing a plate, you should check its documentation, certificates. Gas equipment must comply with the rules for the operation of gas appliances, construction design and standards. When preparing the kitchen, they make sure that conditions such as:

• free passage to the stove, gas pipeline;
• the presence and complete serviceability of ventilation or chimney.

The draft of the ventilation duct is checked by applying a sheet of paper to the outlet. When the listed requirements are met, they begin to replace the equipment. During the work, the following special materials and tools will be required, they must be prepared in advance:

• adjustable plumbing wrench;
• gas wrench (size 1);
• screwdriver;
• sealing, sealing material (for example, fum tape, tow, sealing thread);
• gaskets, gas hose (if necessary);
• building level;
• soap solution, brush.

The replacement procedure consists of the following steps:

1. the gas pipeline is closed by a valve, the electric wire from the stove is disconnected from the network, the old apparatus is disconnected and removed from the room;
2. the free end of the hose, the faucet is checked for leaks: it goes under water, if there are no bubbles, there is no leakage; the condition of the thread is carefully analyzed, if it is damaged, the hose is replaced with a new one;
3. a new plate is placed in the prepared place, aligned horizontally;
4. the hose is connected, the entire system is checked again for leaks; all connection points must be carefully sealed with one of the above seals.

The following requirements are imposed on the hose:

• target specifically for gas;
• be certified;
• hang freely, without tension;
• do not touch any devices.

The gas hose must be made of the following materials:

• rubber, reinforced fabric of high strength;
• vulcanized rubber with metal braid;
• stainless steel with polymers and wire, corrugated coating.

The final step is to check the installed plate. After completing the work, it is necessary to check the tightness of the connections and make sure that there are no gas leaks anywhere. This is found out with the help of such special equipment as leak detectors, gas analyzers. If there is no access to such devices, they use the folk method: all pipes, hoses, connections, joints are abundantly coated with soapy water using a kitchen sponge or a paint brush. Instead of soap, you can use a dishwashing detergent. Then you need to carry out a thorough inspection: small bubbles and foam will be observed at the leak.

You can constantly monitor the level of gas content in the room using special signaling devices, which are installed in the room and measure the concentration of gas compounds in the air around the clock. When the norm is exceeded, a signal is given. You can get these alarms from your local gas service. After the completion of the work, checking the operability, safety of the system, all the actions taken must be recorded in the documentation: date, model of the new stove, information about the specialist who carried out the replacement or checked the independent connection.

If the stove is not installed in its old place, its new location should be indicated in the room plan.
