Leakage of gas fuel in a kitchen stove is a very dangerous process, which sometimes leads to disastrous consequences. It is for this reason that manufacturers of modern gas devices use any methods to increase the safety of life and property of their consumers.

One of these methods is the gas control mode, which almost all modern stoves are equipped with.

How does the system work?

Gas control in a kitchen stove is a system that provides a protective shutdown of the fuel supply in case of its sudden attenuation, for example, in the event of liquid escaping from a saucepan. This mechanism increases the safety of the device by preventing the leakage of explosives with a simple circuit.

The gas leakage safety system is arranged as follows. Each hotplate on the hob has a burner with a flame sensor. When the handle of the stove is turned on, an electric discharge is formed, which is transmitted through the sensor along the following chain:

  • thermocouple;
  • solenoid valve;
  • burner tap.

A thermocouple consists of two wires made of dissimilar metal, joined together by fusion. The place of their connection is a kind of thermoelement located at the level of combustion of the flame.

The signal from the flame sensor to the thermocouple drives the solenoid valve. It exerts pressure on the tap of the burner via a spring, which is therefore kept open.

While the flame is burning, and the heating element of the thermocouple is heated from it, an electric discharge enters the valve and makes it work, while the valve remains open, providing a continuous supply of gas.

The principle of operation of the gas control is that when the gas suddenly decays without turning off the handle of the device, the thermoelement of the wire pair stops heating up. Accordingly, the signal from it does not go to the solenoid valve. It relaxes, the pressure on the valve stops, after which it closes - the fuel stops flowing into the system. Thus, simple but reliable protection against gas leakage is provided.

Previously, cookers were equipped with a common gas control system, that is, it was the same for all burners and ovens. If one burner position went out of work, then the supply of gas fuel was stopped to all elements of the stove.

Today, such a system with automatic fuel cut-off is connected separately to each burner. It is capable of serving either the hob or the oven. But it can be simultaneously supported in both parts of it, providing full gas control, but at the same time it still acts in isolation. The principle of its operation is preserved.

For ovens, such a system is especially useful, because their design is such that the flame burns under the bottom panel. It may take some time until it is found that it has gone out. But the protection will work on time, taking care of the safety of the owner.

How to disable?

The gas control function is undoubtedly a very important part of a cooker. Its main advantages are described below.

  • Preventing gas leaks - ensuring fire and explosion safety. In different models, the fuel cut-off time is not the same: on average, it is 60-90 seconds.
  • Since gas delivery is interrupted even if the handle is released prematurely, this provides protection for children.... As a rule, the child is not able to hold down the button long enough to turn on the gas.
  • There is no need to constantly monitor the preparation of the dish. This mode is for electric ignition cookers.

Such devices are very convenient due to the fact that you do not need to use matches, because it is enough to press a button, turn the knob, and the fire will light up.

But when turning on the stove with automatic ignition, its handle must be held for some time in order for the flame to ignite. This is because the thermocouple must warm up before the gas can enter the system and the fire is lit.

This time period is different for each manufacturer. For brands such as Darina or Gefest, the waiting time is up to 15 seconds. For Gorenje models, the mechanism is triggered after 20 seconds. Hansa acts faster: the fire is kindled after 10 seconds.

If the gas has gone out and it is necessary to turn on the stove again, then it will also take time to regulate the ignition of the flame, and even more than when it was first turned on. Some users are annoyed by this, so they disable this feature.

If you have experience with such devices, and their device is familiar, then you can do it yourself. First of all, it is imperative to turn off the gas supply. Then open the gas control system, disconnect the thermocouple and remove the solenoid valve.

After that, you need to disconnect the spring from it - the main element that "tone" the tap. Then you need to reassemble the mechanism and put it back.

Manipulation is not difficult, but you need to be aware that work is carried out with an explosive device. In addition, the supervisory authority can impose a fine in the event of such self-righteousness.

If this function is useless for the user, and he firmly intends to disable it, then it is necessary to call a specialist. After disconnection, the controller will make a corresponding entry in the device's operation book, where he will indicate the date and reason for canceling the function.

Nuances

Along with the long ignition of the flame, the disadvantages of gas control include failures in the operation of a separate part of the stove in the event of a system breakdown, as well as its not too easy repair.

Signs indicating that the system is out of order:

  • too long turn-on time;
  • fading of the fire for no reason during the cooking process or the inability to ignite it initially;
  • the flow of gas during the involuntary extinguishing of the flame.

In the event of such problems, you should call a specialist. He will establish the cause of the breakdown and, if possible, eliminate it.

There can be several reasons for the leakage controller malfunction:

  • contamination or wear of the thermocouple - in such cases, the element is cleaned of carbon deposits or replaced;
  • wear of the solenoid valve;
  • displacement of the thermoelement relative to the fire;
  • stoppage of the burner tap;
  • disconnecting the chain.

Popular models

The gas control mode in kitchen stoves is now as popular as, for example, a timer or auto ignition. Almost every manufacturer produces models that support this mode.

  1. Domestic brand De Luxe offers an inexpensive but decent model -506040.03g. The hob has 4 gas burners with electric ignition using a button. Low flame mode is supported. The oven has a bottom gas heating and internal lighting, is equipped with a thermostat, a mechanical timer. Gas control is only supported in the oven.
  2. Slovenian company Gorenje, model GI 5321 XF. It has a classic size, which allows it to fit perfectly into a kitchen set. The hob has 4 burners, the grates are made of cast iron. The oven is made like a wood-burning stove with optimal distribution of hot air.

Other advantages include a heat-resistant enamel coating, grill and thermostatic heating. The door is made of two-layer thermal glass. The model has an automatic ignition of burners and ovens, as well as an electric timer. Gas control is supported on the hob.

  1. Gorenje GI 62 CLI. Very beautiful model in classic style in ivory color. The model has 4 burners of different sizes, including WOK. The oven is made in the Home Made style with a heating thermostat. The burners and oven are self-ignited. The model is endowed with an alarm clock, a timer, jets for bottled gas, Aqua Clean cleaning, and has full gas control.
  2. Belarusian brand Gefest - another well-known manufacturer of gas stoves with gas control support (model PG 5100-04 002). This device has an affordable price, but includes all the necessary equipment for convenient and safe use. It is white.

There are four hotplates on the hob, one with fast heating. Covering - enamel, grilles are made of cast iron. The model is distinguished by the presence of a grill, thermostat, lighting, electric ignition for both parts. Gas control is supported on all burners.

Other well-known brands - Bosch, Darina, Mora, Kaiser - also actively support the function of partial or complete control of blue fuel leakage. Considering a particular model, you need to ask the seller how long the protection will be activated.

When choosing a stove, it is imperative to take into account the gas control mode, which can be adjusted independently. It will undoubtedly increase the value of the product. But guessing about the price is inappropriate when it comes to family safety.
