Why is the oven not working in the electric stove and how to fix it?
If the oven breaks down, it seriously complicates life. Even proper care and regular cleaning does not guarantee that the device will work without breakdowns. There are several standard signs that describe the most frequent situations of disturbances in the operation of the oven: it has stopped heating up, the light bulb inside has broken, the gas is periodically turned off in the oven, the control panel is dysfunctional, the oven does not turn on.
Reasons for poor heating
This is usually due to a broken temperature sensor. This defect can be caused by various failures, it makes sense to analyze each case.
Why does the oven not heat:
- the power cord has deteriorated - perhaps its integrity has been violated;
- there was a failure in the operation of the switches;
- the fan has broken;
- heating is affected by insufficient door fit.
If there is a shortage of food, the oven either heats up poorly, or the temperature in it does not rise at all. To determine the cause, disconnect the device from the power supply, make sure that the cord is not damaged anywhere. Just in case, you can check if it is plugged into a working outlet. The situation when it is a failed outlet that becomes the cause of an inoperative oven is very common.
Even if a small defect is noticed on the cord, it may be enough to prevent the oven from working. The whole system is tied to a cord, so consider this option first.
Checking the operation of the regulator
With a potential short circuit, the switch-regulator could fail. He also paralyzes the operation of the oven. To make sure that this is exactly the case, you need to perform simple manipulations.
Diagnostic algorithm:
- disconnect the stove from the power supply;
- first turn the power control knob to maximum, and then to zero;
- reaching the limit values, the regulator should click or make another defining sound.
Replacing the light bulb in the oven
If the regulator does not respond to these actions, it needs to be replaced. For this, the back panel of the plate is unscrewed, the mechanism is replaced. In order not to get confused in the placement of handles and wires on the stove, you should sketch the diagram (or better - take a picture).
In some cases, the stove can be repaired by replacing the fan. But a fan that does not always stop working is a strict need for a new one, sometimes it is enough to wipe its components thoroughly with oil so that they do not rub against each other.
The light bulb in the oven is designed to last a long time. But if it burns out, a replacement is needed. Be sure to keep the paper instructions for the electric stove, because there is information about the size of the lamp base and its power.
To replace a light bulb, you need:
- disconnect the equipment from the power supply;
- remove the protective cap;
- replace the light bulb according to the recommendations specified in the individual instructions (the replacement algorithm may differ in different models).
When purchasing a new light bulb, its main criterion will be high temperature resistance. Almost always the reference point is 300 degrees. If the bulb is weaker, it will break quickly.
Fix stable disconnections
Here the point is in the breakdown of the thermostat.This can happen due to overheating of the oven, if the design of the stove does not provide for a self-shutdown function when a certain temperature indicator is reached. The problem is solved by replacing the thermostat. With even a little experience, this can be done without the involvement of specialists.
Repair of an electric stove with automatic shutdown:
- disconnect the stove from the network;
- remove the power control knob;
- loosen the fasteners, take a picture of the thermostat connection diagram;
- install a new temperature regulator;
- return the control knobs to their normal position.
Some people confuse the knob of the temperature switch with a thermostat - if you do not know enough information about the device and operation of the stove, it is wiser to contact a specialist.
Less commonly, there is a crash in the control panel. If you are the owner of a stove with such modern functionality, do not take on the repair yourself. The device under warranty must be returned to the service, and if the warranty has expired, invite a specialist to your home. Failure of settings requires serious professional diagnostics - as a rule, the problem is quickly corrected by a specialist.
Diagnostics of malfunction of heating element
A heating element is called a heating element that looks like a not too thick tube with a wire made of a material with high resistance inside. The voids of the tube are filled with magnesia so that the wire does not touch its walls. In ovens, heating elements are spiral, solid, halogen.
If you notice that one part of the dish is baked well, and the second is practically raw, the problem may be in a faulty heating element. It is present at the top and bottom of the oven. If the part is working, it glows with a uniform red light and gets very hot. If it is faulty, no heat is generated, and on the very surface of the heating element there may be deformations, black spots.
You do not need to change the heating element with your own hands, you can only aggravate the breakdown. Invite a specialist who will diagnose the oven and fix the breakdown. Often the master notices other related problems. For example, he will see that a rubber layer has come off the door in the right place. In this case, the specialist will glue the rubber band, which will ensure the desired abutment of the door to the body.
Breakdown prevention
If the oven smokes, turns off, heats up weakly, do not use it until the problems are fixed. Do not try to do your own repair if you are poorly versed in technology. If the stove is still under warranty, and you yourself are trying to repair it, in the event of an unsuccessful repair, the warranty service may refuse to repair you free of charge.
In order for the oven to work for a long time and without complaints, you need to follow simple rules from the first days of operation.
- The inside of the oven should be gently cleaned. Usually, for this purpose, the owners take soft sponges. If you rely on metal brushes, the burn is scrubbed off well, but the surface is quickly scratched.
- It is better to take cleaning agents creamy. Abrasive products are harmful to the oven surface.
- If there are aluminum elements on the outer surface of the device, then it makes sense to grease them with sunflower (or any other vegetable) oil even before washing.
- The cleaning procedure should be completed with an alcohol-based product.
- A vinegar solution is excellent for stubborn dirt. If fat lumps have accumulated inside the oven, and the smell from it is not the most pleasant, you can put a container with one third of a glass of ammonia in the cold oven.
- Never place cookware with a wet bottom in a preheated oven.
- If old grease has formed in the oven, heat it to 50 degrees, then turn it off and wipe the surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
- All external parts of the electric oven should be wiped only when the device is off.
- Try to wash the glass door with ordinary soapy water - if you do not start the process of pollution, soapy water is enough for high-quality cleaning. This should be done once a week, then the dirt will not have time to accumulate on the door.
Remember to use energy sparingly: many cooks turn off the oven 5-10 minutes before the meal is ready. The food is baked with the residual heat and the energy costs are reduced.
If used correctly, the device will serve for a long time, at least 15 years. If the oven does not work in the electric stove, you can separately purchase the oven and the hob; today the buyer has plenty of alternatives.
