Landing

Peonies differ among themselves in height, shape of flowers, stems, greenery, resistance to diseases.

Flowering plants are divided into:

  • herbaceous - form shoots every year, withstand low winter temperatures;
  • treelike - stems of shrubs coarse, do not die off in winter, frost-resistant;
  • ITO hybrids - bred in the selection of the strongest species of peonies.

Planting is the same for almost all types of flowering shrubs. This also applies to "Salmon Glory".

A favorable time for planting peonies is August or early September, when the earth is warmed up, and the weather is no longer too hot. A peony bush has been growing in one place for more than ten years, so the process must be taken responsibly.

The best conditions for flowering and growth would be:

  • sunny open place;
  • an area protected from wind and draft;
  • plots of land not flooded by groundwater;
  • fertile soil.

A peony pit is dug 80x80x80 cm in size with a distance between plants of at least 100 cm.Deep the bottom is loosened by 20-30 cm, then covered with soil consisting in equal proportions of compost, peat, ash, dug earth. Filling the pit with soil, it is constantly spilled with water until it settles, after which it is allowed to settle for about a month.

The process of digging up a peony is a very important point. This must be done carefully, since its tubers are fragile, go deep into the ground (up to 1 meter). It is most convenient to get the rhizomes out of the ground with a pitchfork, digging in the bush wide enough.Having pulled out the roots, they need to be washed with water and allowed to lie in the shade for several hours. After that, they will become more flexible, they will not break off like that. Before planting, it is important to hold the tubers in a manganese solution (or any disinfectant) to get rid of rot and plaque.

We plant the peony in the holes to such a depth that the buds are 4-5 cm above the surface of the earth, water it well and fill it with peat or wood mulch.

Planting a peony in spring is also permissible. It is better to do this after warming up the soil (in April or May). Until then, we keep the planting roots in a cold place: cellar, refrigerator. At the end of the season, in the fall, the mature plant is transferred to a prepared place without disturbing the earthen lump.

Peony is absolutely unpretentious in cultivation. It is only important to take into account a few recommendations when planting, and he will thank him with amazing beauty and enchanting aroma.

Care advice

Caring for the Salmon Glory peony will not take long.

In the fall, at the end of the active growth of the shrub, branches with leaves are cut off. Two or three rosettes with leaves remain on the stems, buds are laid on them for the next growing season. For prevention, the remaining short stems are sprinkled with ash, fertilized with humus. In this state, the peony hibernates.

In early spring, the plant requires abundant watering, since at this time the flowering of the peony is formed, the development of the roots. Regular loosening and mulching will retain moisture in the soil.

At this time, the bushes are fertilized with mineral fertilizers of the required concentration: potassium permanganate, ammonium nitrate.

Such dressings are made from the second year after planting.

When buds appear, it is advisable to feed the peony with a composition of superphosphate, ammonium nitrate, potassium salt. The alternation of spring events with organic food will only benefit the peonies. Summer post-flowering care includes weed removal, weeding, and moderate watering.

The peony bush can haunt the consequences of improper agricultural work, disease. For abundant flowering, it should not plant deeply, grow on acidic soil, freeze in the cold season. Prolonged damp weather, winds, insects in flowers contribute to the appearance of gray rot.

You can remove the problem with high-quality care, spraying with special products.

The most affordable way to combat in this case is to apply wood ash under the bush.
