Since ancient times, peonies have been considered flowers that symbolize wealth, happiness and prosperity. Lush buds, bright, rich shades and luxurious green foliage of peonies always look great. Easy to grow and unpretentious to care for, they will become an excellent flower for growing, even for novice florists. Peonies can grow in the same place for more than ten years in a row without transplanting, which is very convenient.

Today there are more than 5 thousand species of this plant. One of the most popular among the registered ones is the Armani peony.

Description of the variety

"Armani" is rightly considered one of the most luxurious varieties of herbaceous peonies. Lush buds with silky terry petals are surrounded by dense dark green foliage. The intense ruby color gradually darkens and becomes burgundy. The diameter of a blossoming bud can reach 20 centimeters. Five flowers will be able to make a wonderful bouquet for your girlfriend or mother.

There are more than 100 petals in one bud, evenly distributed over it. The largest petals are located along the outer circumference; closer to the center, they decrease. The height of the stems is about 1 meter, which is not so small.

In autumn, after the end of flowering, the leaves change their color, turning from green to dark red.

A large number of Armani peony bushes look incredibly beautiful and decorate any garden. Landscape designers advise mixing "Armani" with other varieties of more delicate pastel shades so that the garden does not look too gloomy, especially in autumn, when even the delicate foliage becomes burgundy.

The huge advantage of this variety over the others is its increased resistance to frost, snow and wind. Perennial shoots do not freeze even in 40 ° C frost, which makes it especially attractive for growing in Russian latitudes. Armani buds do an excellent job with hot summer days - they do not fade and do not get burned by the sun's rays. Rains will not interfere with the growth of peonies, but only short-term. A heavy downpour can ruin even such a strong flower.

Growing

The growing process is divided into several stages.

Site selection

The very first point in growing is choosing a planting site. This business should be approached especially carefully, because the rest of the process depends on a well-chosen area.

The Armani variety needs an open space where sunlight can reach unhindered.

It is not forbidden to plant a flower in a shaded area - it will grow, but it will not bloom. The selected area should be away from trees with a large crown, dense bushes and the house, so that air circulation is not disturbed.

If there is a proximity to groundwater in a nearby area from the house, it is recommended not to plant peonies here, since all efforts will be wasted. In this case, the root system of plants will quickly begin to rot, and then die.

Soil preparation

The beauty of flowers, their splendor and aroma, which will fill the garden, depend on the quality and fertility of the land. The better the soil is fertilized, the more luxurious the peony will grow. For "Armani" the best option will be a cultivated type of soil with acidity baking. Two buckets of clay are added to the sandy soil, and some sand is added to the clayey soil. If the soil is still very acidic, it is recommended to add lime to it.The amount is calculated at 300 grams per bush.

The soil should be well fertilized.

Landing

The best time for planting peonies is autumn. However, the landing site must be prepared at least a month in advance. Better to start in the last days of July or early August. It is recommended to plant peonies in prepared holes with good soil. To do this, recesses 60x60x60 centimeters are dug on the site. Two-thirds of the hole should be filled with soil: the best option would be a mixture of humus, sand and peat.

The following substances, which need to be added to the main mixture, can additionally enrich the soil:

  • bone meal;
  • iron vitriol - 1 tbsp. spoon for 3 buckets of mixture;
  • wood ash.

Flowers are planted 5 centimeters deep from the surface. If you sprinkle the roots on top with fresh soil from the garden and mulched peat, during the first three years it will be possible not to feed the peonies.

As a rule, plants begin to bloom in the second year after planting, but if it did not start during this period, this is not a cause for concern.

The most important is plant health and an increase in the number of stems to five in comparison with the previous season.

Care

After the Armani has landed, the hole must be immediately watered with plenty of water. Peonies need constant care.

It is important to regularly water them with 2-3 buckets of water, loosen the ground, spray them with special mixtures from pests.

Be sure to carry out top dressing by the foliar method and mulching. With proper care, this variety will bloom magnificently and not cause trouble to its owners for two decades.

The first 2-3 years it is necessary to cover the flower for the winter. The stems are cut two centimeters above the buds. Cover it with a peat layer or compost.

Armani flowers will make a wonderful bouquet that will delight the eye for a long time. Especially in combination with other colors of more delicate shades. Complement the flowers with chocolates or a plush toy and you can safely go on a date with your beloved. Such a set will delight every girl.
