True connoisseurs of beauty do not consider petunia a mediocre plant, as they are familiar with a huge variety of species, varieties, colors of this amazing flower. Large-flowered varieties are especially eye-catching. These include, for example, "Triumph" petunia.
Description
Petunia "Triumph" can be deservedly awarded the title of champion for the size of a flower. Among the varieties, you can find terry specimens, but usually these are ordinary flowers of a huge size - up to 16 cm in diameter. There are also specimens up to 20 cm in diameter.
The color range of the Triumph variety is very diverse, mainly flowers with petals, the shade of which varies from pale pink to juicy burgundy.
The petals are distinguished by fringed edges, and veined wreaths are observed on them. The species is characterized by late flowering (from July), so it is recommended to plant it early. But flowering is long - until frost.
The varieties are characterized by weak branching, nevertheless, the bushes are quite powerful and can reach a length of 50 cm. Sometimes a support is even required to hold the flowers. In the composition, the Triumph variety is best combined with dense green crops, as its branches appear bare.
Sometimes you can notice the stretching of the plant, this may mean that the offered volume of land is not enough for the flower.
Varieties
The following varieties deserve special attention.
"Black Triumph". Another name is "superb". The hybrids of this species are tetraploid, which distinguishes the plant as ideal in shape and color. These are tall, weakly branching shrubs with giant flowers of an unusual color and a dark core. In fact, this is the classic "Triumph".
- "Triumph Alba". This annual grows to a height of 60 cm, and its flowers can be up to 16 cm in diameter. The subspecies is distinguished by a white-pink color, a slightly smoky shade, with contrasting purple veins. These flowers can be attributed to the lightest group.
The seeds can be offered as a mixture of flowers. Perhaps this is the most attractive option for planting a crop. Also, one-color varieties "Triumph pink", which are characterized by a pale pink color, "Triumph dark purple" with lilac flowers, "Triumph burgundy" - the darkest variety of the "Triumph" family, deserve special attention.
Landing
For sowing seedlings of petunia "Triumph" follow these steps.
Pour soil into the container, compact and moisten it with a sprayer.
Sprinkle seeds on top, cover with glass or transparent film.
In a couple of weeks, at temperatures from +22 to +24 degrees, the first shoots will hatch. Spray them regularly, and when two true leaves appear, dive the shoots.
Continue growing at temperatures between +16 and +18 degrees.
After frost, you can plant sprouts in open ground.
Care
To plant a flower in open ground, select well-drained, light fertile soils in a sunny and wind-protected area. Plant them at least 15-30 cm apart. It is recommended to plant around the edges of the flower bed in order to decorate the composition with taller plants in the center.
Loosen and weed regularly, apply top dressing and water the crop.
If the flower is grown on the balcony, then more difficult conditions of detention will be required. First of all, the soil should be very nutritious, because its volume in a pot is much less than in a summer cottage. A mixture of peat, humus and garden soil is suitable. Throughout the summer, the plant needs to be fed with liquid fertilizers every two weeks.
Water the crop sparingly and do not be afraid of a slight drought in the soil - overflows for this species are much worse.
When it rains, it is recommended to hide the pots under the roof, as the flower petals are very fragile and can be crumpled under the influence of raindrops. If it was not possible to hide the flowerpot, then you can cut off all the buds spoiled by the shower, and after a few days you can expect new healthy flowers in their place.

Does this petunia variety need to be pinched during the growing season?
Svetlana, in general, this variety of petunia should bush on its own, it needs to be pinched, only based on its appearance. But do not be afraid to pinch and trim the petunia at the growth stage. The more the plant forms lateral shoots, the more buds it will lay and the more luxuriant it will bloom. The shoot begins to awaken dormant buds and release new branches. Soon it will be densely covered with shoots that will bloom.
