All about petunias "Aphrodite"

Description
Although 35 species of petunias are known, most of the flowers grown in the garden are hybrids. An annual plant brought from South America. These fast-growing annuals grow well in all climatic zones. The shrub can reach a height of 20 to 75 cm, and a width of 60 to 240 cm. Some varieties do not smell at all, others emit a pleasant light aroma at night.

The bush turns out to be spherical, it is distinguished by abundant flowering. The height of the shrub does not reach more than 40 cm, the leaves have a neat shape. The blossoming fringed flowers reach a diameter of 10 cm, their shade is pale pink, the edges of the petals are decorated with fringes. The flowering period begins in May and ends in February. After planting, the seeds sprout in a week or two.
This plant is very fond of light and water, but can withstand slight drought.
- "White Aphrodite". A hybrid that is actively used by gardeners due to its unpretentiousness. The flowers are completely white with a fringe at the edges. Their diameter is 10 cm. The flowering period is from late spring to mid-autumn.
It is best to plant in fertile, well-drained soil with plenty of light.
- "Aphrodite salmon". The large flowers of this unique variety have an amazing color. The plant grows strongly, but at the same time retains the even spherical shape of the bush. At the edges, the petals are decorated with ruffles. This hybrid can be planted both in a flower bed and decorate a balcony with it.

- Purple Aphrodite. The flowers of this variety have wavy edges, the shade of the petals is surprisingly bright and attractive. Flowers with a diameter of 9 cm will delight you with their number. The bush blooms for a long time, and reaches a height of 35 cm. If it is warm, it will bloom before the onset of the first frost.
Petunia does an excellent job of not watering for a long time, so it is often planted in flower beds in the city.
Care
When breeding flowers, it is advisable to heed the advice of experienced growers.
- For best results, petunia should be grow in an open place where there is a lot of sun. Only a few varieties thrive in light shade.
- The soil should be moist with good drainage. Ideally, the pH should be between 6.0 and 7.0. At high pH levels, there may be an iron deficiency.
- When growing from seeds, always use packaged planting material.as the harvested mixture usually produces a white flowering form.
- Seeds usually germinate from 1 to 3 weeks at a temperature of + 21– + 27 ° С.
