Punch Button Repair
People for whom the construction profession is their main occupation are often faced with tool breakages. Most often, the mechanical part fails: buttons, rockers, switches.
With active use of many devices, they begin to break down even before the expiration of the warranty period. And the weakest point of the drill and hammer drill is the power button.
Breakdowns are of different types.
- Closure. This is one of the most common types of breakage. The problem is solved by cleaning the contacts.
- Damaged button wires. If the contacts are burnt out, then cleaning will not work. Only the replacement of wires or cables will help, depending on the situation.
- Mechanical breakdown. Many people face this problem after unsuccessfully dropping the tool. We will talk about this situation below.
To replace the button (plastic cannot be glued), you need a screwdriver and a boot awl (you can use knitting needles).
- First, disassemble the device by unscrewing all the screws on the back of the holder. Remove the plastic.
- The next step is to carefully disconnect the switch. After you open the lid, you will see two wires in blue and cinnamon. Using a screwdriver, loosen the screws and fold the wires.
The rest of the wiring is detached with an awl. Insert the pointed end into the wire connector until the clip is loose. Remove each of the wires in the same way.
Tip: Before opening the switch-on device, take a few photos of the initial state. So, you will always have the original version at hand in case you suddenly forget the connection sequence.
Installing the button - all wires return to their places, the back cover is closed. The device is connected to power supply. If the new button works, you can tighten the screws and continue using the hammer drill.
