The Golden Jubilee variety is a universal pepper with a long fruiting period. Suitable for planting in a greenhouse and in a vegetable garden without additional shelter, it is possible to cultivate it in a heated greenhouse in winter.
Breeding history
The variety was obtained by domestic breeders at the beginning of the XXI century. Included in the State Register in 2007.
Description of the variety
Photophilous culture, but tolerates small partial shade well. In the middle lane, they are planted only in seedlings; in warm southern regions, it is possible to plant seeds in open ground. Fruiting begins in July and lasts until October. One plant can simultaneously have up to 12 fruits. They ripen quickly: a week after being removed from the branch.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
The bush is medium-sized, 45–55 cm high, compact, highly leafy. The arrangement of the ovaries is bouquet. Fruits are large, up to 5-7 cm long, 8-9 cm in diameter, flat-rounded, slightly ribbed, weighing 110-180 g.
The skin is smooth, shiny, the walls are 8.5–10 mm thick. 4 nests are formed in the seed chamber. At the stage of technical ripeness, the peppers are green. Ripening, they become orange-yellow.
Purpose and taste
Dessert taste, sweet without bitterness. The pulp is not very dense, juicy, with a pleasant aroma. Contains 9% dry matter, 5% sugar. Peppers are used fresh, for making salads, canning, freezing, and are considered ideal for stuffed dishes. Fresh stored at a cool temperature for a month.
Ripening terms
The species is mid-season in terms of ripening: 150–160 days pass from the emergence of seedlings to the ripening of the crop.
Yield
From 1 sq. m remove 4-4.5 kg of fruit.
Growing regions
The variety is suitable for growing in temperate climates, including the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East.
Landing scheme
For 1 sq. m fits 5-7 plants. An interval of 50-60 cm is left between the rows, 25-30 cm between seedlings.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and caring
Seeds for seedlings are planted from late February to early March; in colder regions, planting is transferred to the second half of March.
Before planting, the seeds are soaked in water, planted to a depth of 5 mm in seedling boxes or peat pots. The best temperature for germination is from +25 to + 27 °, sprouts will appear on the 10-15th day. When seedlings appear, the temperature is reduced to + 20 ° in the daytime and to + 18 ° at night.
The soil and air are constantly kept moist, about 50%. It is better to moisten it from a spray bottle with warm settled water. After the appearance of 2 leaves, they are fed with Kornevin, and after 20 days they are fertilized with urea. Quenching is carried out 3-4 weeks before landing on the site.
Seedlings are planted on the beds at the age of 8-10 weeks, when the return frosts stop, they are transferred to a greenhouse or greenhouse after May 15. By this time, plants should have already formed 6 full leaves.
The bed for planting is prepared in advance: the soil is dug up, removing plant residues, rotted manure and wood ash are introduced. Additionally, you can spill the fertilizer "Biohumus".
The seedlings are planted 2-3 cm deeper than they grew in the container. Young plants tolerate transplanting well. The first 2 weeks recommend a temperature regime at night not lower than + 15 °, during the day from + 18 ... + 20 °. Under such conditions, the root system begins to develop in the shoots. For the development of leaves, a night temperature of + 18 ° is required, and a day temperature from +22 to + 25 °. During the growing period, the plant needs pinching and breaking off the lower leaves.
The beds are watered once a week. With a lack of moisture, the pulp will not gain juiciness. Moisten the soil to a depth of 30 cm, then carefully loosen and mulch. The garden bed can be sprinkled with sapropel or compost mixed with ash or pine flour.
They are fed 1 time in 3-4 weeks with the complex fertilizer "Rodnichok" 50 g per 1 sq. M. m. During the period of flowering and the formation of ovaries foliar treatments are carried out: sprayed with a solution of boric acid or potassium permanganate, you can use the drug "Mag-Bor". To increase the yield, they are treated with the "Kristalon" product.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
Loose soil of neutral acidity is suitable for the culture; the best option is fertile loam.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
The plant tolerates short-term cold snaps well, but is sensitive to a long cold period and a lack of light.
Disease and pest resistance
The variety has good immunity to verticillium. To prevent the appearance of other diseases - mosaics, powdery mildew - they are treated with boric acid, iodine or ammonia solution. For the Colorado potato beetle and ants, use the drug "Colorado", for aphids sprayed with an infusion of wood ash or "Danadim".
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
Review overview
According to gardeners, the Golden Jubilee is a good acquisition for a small plot: compact plants can be planted very tightly, and they begin to bear fruit early and delight with the harvest until autumn.
