Among the huge number of varieties of sweet peppers, there are those that vegetable growers, novice gardeners, and farmers are happy to grow. As a rule, these are fruitful, non-capricious and early ripening varieties, which include the Venti sweet pepper, of the Transnistrian selection.
Description of the variety
Venti is a vegetable crop, bred by scientists from Transnistria, is a medium-sized plant that grows up to 45-55 cm in height. The compact bush is endowed with weak spreading of branches, moderate foliage with dark green foliage, shortened internodes and a mixed type of flowering.
Fruits on the bushes are located "noses" down (drooping). A large number of brushes with ovaries are formed on the shoots, therefore, there are quite a lot of fruits ripening on an adult bush - from 8 to 12 specimens.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
Venti pepper belongs to the medium-fruited species. The weight of the vegetable is 60-70 grams, and the length is up to 18 cm. Fruits ripen smooth, neat, therefore they are quite suitable for growing for commercial purposes (for sale). The shape of the vegetable is unusual - elongated-conical.
The peel of the fruit is thin (up to 5 mm), smooth, with a pronounced glossy overflow and weak ribbing. Ripe peppers have a ruby red color, and at the stage of technical maturity they are light yellow.
Ripe peppers can be transported without loss of taste and marketability. It is also worth noting the good keeping quality in the refrigerator.
Purpose and taste
Venti, unlike many relatives, stands out for its incredible taste. The pulp of the fruit is fleshy, moderately firm, crispy, tender and juicy, without a hint of wateriness. The taste is sweet, complemented by a bright peppery aroma with light hints of spice. There is a minimum amount of seeds in the pulp.
The vegetable pulp contains an increased amount of ascorbic acid, as well as many useful vitamins and minerals. The harvested crop is suitable for adding to hot and cold dishes, for pickling, canning, baking and freezing. In addition, the pepper is suitable for processing into ketchups, dressings, sauces.
Ripening terms
Pridnestrovian selection sweet peppers belong to the category of early maturing varieties. The growing season lasts only 95-110 days. The peppers ripen quite amicably. You can taste the first ripe fruits in mid-July. The massive return of the harvest occurs from late July to the end of summer, sometimes, if the weather permits, vegetables are harvested in September.
Yield
The yield indicators of the variety are always encouraging, because they do not depend on weather conditions, but only on the correct adherence to agrotechnical recommendations. On average, 3.5 to 5 kg of crispy peppers can be removed from 1 m2.
Landing scheme
When planting pepper bushes, it is important to observe the density and distance between plantings, which will ensure maximum access of air, light and heat to the plants. It is recommended to plant no more than 5-7 pepper bushes per 1 m2. The optimal layout for planting is 30x20 cm.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Vegetables are grown by seed or seedlings. It is the seedling method that is considered more productive. Strengthened bushes 60-65 days old with 3-5 leaves and a developed rhizome are selected as planting material.
The greenhouse is planted in mid-May. Bushes are planted on garden ridges in late May - early June, when the air and soil are warm enough, and the threat of return spring frosts has passed. The best crop precursors are cucumbers, squash, pumpkin varieties, carrots and cabbage.
Caring for a vegetable includes regular watering with settled or warm water under the root, fertilizing, alternating organic matter and mineral mixtures (2-3 times during the growing season), weeding and shallow loosening of the soil, shaping (1-2 stems) and tying bushes to a peg , prevention of diseases and viruses.
In greenhouses and greenhouses, constant control of the humidity level is required through periodic ventilation.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
It is recommended to plant Venti bell peppers in a light, fluffy, moist and fertile soil with good air permeability. It is strictly forbidden to plant in swampy and acidic soils, since this will negatively affect the productivity of the vegetable crop.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
Venti is an early thermophilic crop, resistant to temperature fluctuations, light shade and short drought. The site for the peppers is chosen sunny, well-lit, protected from drafts. It is uncomfortable for a vegetable to grow in lowlands, where there is stagnation of moisture.
Disease and pest resistance
Due to its strong immunity, the vegetable is resistant to tobacco mosaic virus and verticillary wilt, and also has high resistance to the most common pathogens of viruses and bacteria.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
