Pepper Flight - the culture is already not young. Over the years, she managed to win the respect of gardeners. Farmers who offer vegetables for sale also liked this species, since its fruits look presentable and are stored for a long time.
Breeding history
The described variety was born in Moldova, on the basis of the Research Center for Seed Breeding. Such breeders as E. Yu Panchev and T.S. Ilienko worked on its creation. In 1997, Flight was added to the list of the State Register and was allowed for mass cultivation.
Description of the variety
The pepper in question is classified as sweet. It is allowed to be cultivated not only in an open summer cottage, but also in various kinds of greenhouses.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
Experts define the type of bush of this variety as medium-sized, standard, with moderate foliage. The plant rises 40-50 centimeters above the ground. According to their position, the fruits are directed towards the earth. The leaves are deep green in color, are impressive in size and resemble an egg in shape.
Vegetables in the technical stage of maturity are colored in a pale green tone, ripening, they become dark scarlet. The peppers follow the shape of a wide cone. Their peel is smooth, the wall of the fruit reaches 4-6 millimeters in thickness. Each vegetable has an average of 2-4 seed chambers.
Purpose and taste
Pepper variety Flight is universal. It is good not only for eating directly from the garden, but also for canning, preparing completely different dishes. The vegetable is very aromatic, crispy and juicy. Provides significant health benefits, as it is saturated with ascorbic acid.
Ripening terms
Experts classify this culture as a mid-early one.
Its fruiting period starts 78-121 days after planting. Most often this time falls in July, but is not limited to one month, peppers can bear fruit until the autumn cold.
Yield
The productivity of the variety depends on the growing conditions. With a favorable climate and proper care, it is high. On average, gardeners can count on 87-152 centners per hectare.
Growing regions
The culture matures successfully in the open field in the North Caucasus and Central Black Earth regions. In other areas, a greenhouse or greenhouse should be prepared for its cultivation.
Landing scheme
When starting to plant peppers, you should maintain a distance between the bushes equal to 40 centimeters. Approximately the same gap is provided between the rows.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
If the described type of pepper is intended to be cultivated in an open area, the seeds are planted in the first weeks of March. When it is planned to use the greenhouse, this process can begin as early as February. On the eve of the planting material, it is advised to disinfect with a potassium permanganate solution. It is best to immerse the seeds in the soil no more than 3 centimeters. As soon as the seedlings are formed, it is recommended to place them in a special environment: to ensure the air in the room is heated to 25 degrees and do not turn off the light for 16-18 hours a day.Additionally, you can cover the container with a film.
Young plants are moved to the greenhouse in mid-May, and to the ground when it comes to the end of May.
Watering peppers is often required, you can even daily, but little by little, using 2-3 liters of water at a time. In cloudy weather, you can moisten the plant less often, for example, three times a week.
In addition, the vegetable needs regular loosening of the soil under the bushes. If you do not want to loosen, you can mulch with grass, sawdust, straw.
Timely feeding has a beneficial effect on peppers. It is desirable to carry out it three times: before the culture blooms, after that and at the stage of fruit formation.
The role of fertilizer can be phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium compounds.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
The vegetable feels great in well-drained, loose, fertile soil. For ease, you can add humus and sand to it. It is good if cucumbers or cabbage grew in the garden before the peppers.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
Culture reacts sharply to a lack of light, does not like shade, however, it needs to be protected from direct rays of the sun in the same way as from drafts.
Disease and pest resistance
The plant shows excellent resistance to verticillium and attacks of many insect species. However, with insufficient care, for example, allowing an excess of moisture in the soil, pepper can get sick with apical or white rot, late blight. To prevent diseases, the bushes are sprayed with biological preparations.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
