Growing fleshy and large sweet peppers in the garden or in the greenhouse is the dream of every vegetable grower. The main thing is to choose an unpretentious variety that quickly adapts to the climate, which bears fruit stably and abundantly. These characteristics are endowed with a mid-season hybrid Marshal Zhukov, bred by scientists of the agricultural firm "SeDeK".
Description of the variety
Pepper Marshal Zhukov is a medium-sized bush of a half-stem type. In favorable conditions, the plant stretches up to 80-90 cm in height. The bush has moderate spreading of branches, a strong central stem that does not break under the weight of the fruit, medium foliage with large green leaves and a female type of flowering. Up to 10 large pepper specimens ripen on a bush. The peppers are hanging down on the bushes.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
Sweet pepper Marshal Zhukov is a large-fruited vegetable. On average, fruits ripening weighing 350-400 grams and up to 20 cm long. The shape of the vegetable is a little unusual - cuboid-prismatic, outwardly resembling an even and convex cube. At the stage of ripening, the pepper has a dark green color, and completely ripe specimens acquire an uneven ruby red color. The hybrid belongs to thick-walled varieties - the thickness reaches a centimeter. The surface of the giant pepper is glossy, with pronounced ribbing, thanks to which it is convenient to cut the vegetable into slices. The structure of the pepper consists of 3 seed chambers.
The vegetables removed from the bushes are easily transported without losing the presentation of the fruit. A characteristic feature of the variety is its high keeping quality and safety. Harvested vegetables will not crack.
Purpose and taste
Marshal Zhukov is famous for its excellent taste. The light red flesh has a firm, fleshy, crunchy and juicy texture without wateriness. The taste is balanced - sweet, sugary, complemented by a fragrant aroma. The pulp contains a large amount of vitamins and minerals.
The advantage of the species is its universal purpose - peppers are eaten fresh, canned, baked and frozen, added to cold and hot dishes, and also processed into lecho and other sauces.
Ripening terms
This is a mid-season vegetable crop, the growing season of which lasts 120-130 days. Vegetables ripen together. Fruiting in the plant is long, so you can enjoy the fleshy and aromatic peppers until autumn. Mass production of fruits begins from late July - early August. In practice, according to experienced vegetable growers, the harvest period lasts until mid-October.
Yield
High yield, which does not depend on the vagaries of the weather, is one of the key advantages of the hybrid. In a greenhouse with 1 m2 of plantings, an average of 8-8.5 kg of leveled fruits can be collected. On the garden ridge, the yield is slightly lower - up to 7-7.8 kg / m2.
Landing scheme
To get a good harvest in the future, it is necessary to properly cultivate the vegetable crop on the site, observing the planting density and the distance between the pepper bushes. Since Marshal Zhukov requires space, no more than 3 plants should be planted per 1 m2. Landing is carried out according to the scheme 35x50 cm.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Marshal Zhukov is a hybrid, therefore it is cultivated through seedlings. Strong bushes with a height of 20-25 cm are chosen as planting material, on which there are 3-5 real leaves. The seedlings are 60-70 days old. Planting is carried out from mid-May to early June (depending on the climate). The best crop precursors are onions, squash, carrots, cabbage and pumpkin.
Pepper care consists of basic procedures - regular watering under the root with settled water, top dressing 2-3 times per season (the plant reacts well to mineral fertilizers), fluffing and weeding of the soil, removing lateral and excess shoots before the first branch, forming a bush in 2 stem, tying to a support, prevention of viruses and pest infestations. In greenhouses, do not forget about ventilation and constant lighting control.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
Sweet pepper Marshal Zhukov, like most of its congeners, feels comfortable in loose, light, moist and breathable soils. In addition, the soil should be fertile and neutral in acidity.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
The hybrid has a high resistance to stress, therefore it easily tolerates temperature fluctuations, minor cold snaps, prolonged heat. On the site, it is better to choose a sunny place where it is constantly light, warm, air circulates, and there is also protection from gusty winds.Pepper grows comfortably on a small hill, where there is no swampy and stagnant water.
Disease and pest resistance
The hybrid has a complex immunity that protects against the tobacco mosaic virus, tomato bronzing, verticillium and spotted wilting.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
