One of the latest novelties worthy of the attention of farmers is the sweet bell pepper Livadia. The crop does not require complex care, it brings decent yields, it can be grown both in a greenhouse and in unprotected soil. And the hybrid also has beautiful large fruits, fragrant and tasty fresh, and especially in the composition of dishes prepared from them.
Breeding history
The breeders of the well-known agricultural company "Partner" have always tried to create such hybrids so that they are available and easy to care for, and grow easier than varietal crops. The work on the hybrid variety of Livadia pepper was completed by its author, the general director of the company V.I.Blokin-Mechtalin, in 2017. And already in 2019, the culture was allowed to grow in almost all regions of the Russian Federation.
Description of the variety
The large-fruited hybrid Livadia is distinguished by resistance to both temperature extremes and attacks of insect pests. The keeping quality of this sweet pepper is very high. If you remove the fruits from the bush at technical ripeness, you can keep them for several months, but only in a cool place.
The Bulgarian pepper in question tolerates any transportation very well, without losing its presentation. This is facilitated by its thick, rather strong skin.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
The bushes of Livadia are semi-spreading, they can grow to a height of almost one and a half meters. The culture is distinguished by a developed root system. Leaves are oval in shape, medium in size, with slight wrinkling, their color is dark green.
Fruits with a drooping position, cylindrical shape, flattened, with symmetrically located grooves. Peppers are mostly long, large, average weight - 250-300 grams, dimensions - 10x18 centimeters. The fruits are glossy, at the time of technical ripeness they are dark green, at the stage of biological maturity they become dark red, smooth. There are about three or four nests inside. The walls are thick - 7-9 mm.
Purpose and taste
The fruits of the bell pepper Livadia are sweet, rich in taste. The product has a high fiber content. Peppers are ideal for cooking lecho, as well as grilling, baking or stewing. In summer salads, fresh vegetables are also good. However, many people note that when heat treated, its taste is revealed much brighter.
Ripening terms
Livadia is a hybrid variety, mid-season in terms of ripening. Removable ripeness is acquired by them 75-80 days after germination.
Yield
The yield of Livadia pepper averages 12.8 kilograms per square meter.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and caring
Seed material of Livadia is sown starting from March 15. It is better to distribute it in separate containers. So it is possible to avoid picking, which is often traumatic for such a culture.
A permanent place for Livadia pepper should be in a well-lit corner of the site, and it is better if there are no drafts there. It is advisable to choose a soil that is nutritious, loose, with a neutral pH.
On an area of one square meter, no more than 4 plants are located.Massive fruits ripen on rather large bushes, so they will need to be tied to a support, while both wooden and plastic options are suitable.
It is necessary to feed Livadia bell pepper often. Perhaps it requires this more than other varieties. It is best to dwell on mineral complexes. Ripe peppers from the bush must be removed in a timely manner, this will help unripe fruits develop.
The fruits that have been harvested green ripen perfectly on their own. And at a low temperature they will be stored for several months without losing their presentation.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Disease and pest resistance
Through the efforts of the breeders of the agrofirm "Partner", the Livadia hybrid is endowed with resistance to the most common diseases of pepper crops, for example, tobacco mosaic. The crop's resistance to attacks by harmful insects is higher than that of many other varieties of pepper. However, periodic prophylaxis may be required.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
