On average, there are more than 1,500 varieties of pepper in the world. The culture originated in Central America, and now it is one of the most popular. Pepper Lamuyo is a fairly new variety, distinguished by its unpretentious care and good yield indicators.
Description of the variety
Pepper Lamuyo was bred by the breeder Blokin-Mechtalin V. I. with the support of the selection company "Partner". Approved for use in 2020. The originator indicates that the crop can be grown both outdoors and in greenhouses.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
A medium-sized semi-spreading bush will not take up much space in the garden. On average, the height varies from 40 to 60 cm. Despite such small dimensions, due to the drooping arrangement of the fruits, the stems still need to be tied up. Otherwise, the bush will gradually lean to the ground or simply break under the weight of the vegetables.
Leaves are medium in size, but large ones are also found. They are round-elongated in shape, the nose is pointed. The surface of the plates is dark green, wrinkled. Buds are formed in internodes. Flowers are white or pale yellow, small.
The fruits are large. On average, their length is 20-24 cm, and their diameter varies from 7 to 8.5 cm. Vegetables are prismatic. The mass of the pepper is 250-320 g. The color of the peel at the time of technical ripeness is dark green. After the fruits are ripe, the color changes to dark red. The skin is slightly wrinkled, very glossy, finely ribbed.
The fruits in the section have thick walls, their thickness is from 6 to 8 cm. Inside, 3 chambers are formed, in which there is a small amount of small white seeds.
Purpose and taste
Gardeners note that the taste of the fruit is very rich, sweet and without a bitter aftertaste. Lamuyo pepper has a universal purpose, so it can be eaten fresh, stuffed, used to prepare first or second courses, and also frozen. It shows itself well during heat treatment or pickling.
Ripening terms
The variety belongs to the group of early maturing crops. On average, it takes 95 to 100 days for the fruit to fully ripen.
Yield
The producers stated that the average yield of the variety is 11.3 kg per square meter. From one bush is removed from 7 to 10 peppers.
Growing regions
Since Lamuyo pepper is a very young variety, it is difficult to establish the exact geography of cultivation. The originators recommend planting peppers in the following regions:
- West Siberian;
- Central;
- Northern;
- Ural;
- TsCHO;
- North Caucasian;
- Middle Volga;
- Nizhnevolzhsky.
Landing scheme
It is recommended to choose the following planting pattern: 60-70 cm between rows and 35-40 cm between bushes.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
As mentioned earlier, the variety is suitable for outdoor and indoor cultivation. But many gardeners recommend pre-germinating the crop in order to get a strong and good harvest.The preparation of the material is already carried out in February. Before planting, the seedlings should be 90-100 days old.
Before sowing, it is necessary to prepare seedling boxes or individual peat pots (any other small containers can be used). The soil is purchased in a special store. Before filling the pots, the earth is either calcined in the oven or treated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. You can fill the container halfway, since the root system of the seedlings develops very slowly.
The seeds should also be processed in a weak solution of manganese, and then soaked in water for 5 hours until they swell completely. Further, some summer residents put the material in gauze soaked in growth stimulants, while others immediately plant it in the ground.
After sowing, the boxes are covered with foil or glass and removed to a warm and dark place. After the seedling gets stronger and several strong leaves appear, it is necessary to start a pick. Before the second dive into the open ground, it is necessary to take the plant outside for acclimatization 5 days before planting.
The selected area for peppers should be dug up in advance, preferably in the fall, while adding up to 3-5 kg of organic fertilizers per 1 m2. And in the spring, each hole should be shed with ammonium nitrate.
The subsequent care of the culture should be as follows.
- Top dressing. The first fertilizer that is applied to the soil is ammonium nitrate to stimulate growth. Then there are nitrogen or potash fertilizers, as well as superphosphate. Each subsequent feeding can be done in 2-3 weeks.
- Crown formation. It is necessary to prune the bush, especially during the growing season, so that all processes are aimed at the formation of fruits, and not new branches. The procedure should be carried out once every 10 days.
- Watering is carried out 1-2 times a week with warm settled water under the root.
- Loosening and weeding are carried out immediately after irrigation.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site.The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
