Many vegetable growers and farmers, choosing sweet peppers for cultivation, prefer early ripening and high-yielding varieties that manage to yield before the cold weather. These types include the early Krepysh variety, bred by domestic scientists.
Breeding history
Sweet pepper Krepysh was brought out at the Maikop Experimental Station in 1991. The authors of the vegetable crop are Russian breeders Petrovskaya N.N., Anikeenko V.S. and Chvyr N.I. Pepper is cultivated in garden beds, in greenhouses and greenhouses. Initially, the vegetable was created for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, but in a short time it became popular in the Volgo-Vyatka, East Siberian and Far Eastern regions.
Description of the variety
A sturdy plant is a low-growing plant that grows up to 55 cm in a favorable environment. The compact shrub of the standard type is characterized by medium thickening of green leaves, semi-sprawling branches, a powerful central stem and a superficial root system.
It is noteworthy that the fruits on the bushes are arranged unusually - "noses" up and to the sides. On each pepper bush, up to 10-12 leveled specimens mature.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
This variety belongs to the medium-fruit class. The fruits grow all neat and aligned, endowed with an attractive presentation. The average weight of a vegetable is 69-73 g (length 10-15 cm). The shape of the pepper is conical with a blunt apex. At the stage of technical ripeness, the vegetable is green, then light yellow, and a fully ripe pepper is evenly covered with a bright red cover. The skin of the vegetable is tender, moderately dense - the wall thickness is 5-6 mm. The surface of the fruit is smooth, shiny, slightly wavy. 2-3 chambers with a small amount of small seeds are formed inside the pepper.
Ripe vegetables tolerate transportation at different distances well, and can also be stored for a long time without losing their taste and useful qualities. It is important that the harvested pepper does not deform, does not lose its presentation, does not crack.
Purpose and taste
The strong man has excellent taste. The pale red flesh is endowed with a fleshy, tender, moderately firm, slightly crunchy and very juicy consistency without wateriness. The fruit has a balanced taste - sweet, slightly sugary, complemented by a peppery-spicy aroma.
Ripe vegetables have a wide range of uses in cooking - peppers are eaten fresh, canned, stuffed, added to cold and hot dishes, used as decoration, frozen, baked, and pickled.
Ripening terms
This pepper variety is early maturing. From the mass germination of sprouts to the first ripe peppers on the bushes, 100-122 days pass. Fruiting in a vegetable crop is abundant. Fruits are ripening together. The yield is in July-August.
Yield
The yield indicator of the variety is good. With proper care, 4.2 kg of juicy peppers can be harvested from 1 m2. In the open field, the yield can be slightly lower - from 2.7 to 4 kilograms. Growing crops for sale, you can get an average of 269-420 centners per hectare of plantings.
Landing scheme
When planting a plant, some nuances should be taken into account - density and distance between plantings. 5-6 pepper bushes are placed on 1 m2. Planting culture is carried out according to the scheme 40x60 cm.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Strong peppers are grown by seed and seedling methods, however, planting through seedlings is more productive. Strong bushes 12-18 cm high with 2-4 true leaves and 60-70 days old are used as planting material. Planting is carried out in a greenhouse in mid-May, and in open ground - in early June, when the soil and air are warm enough, and return spring frosts are left behind. The best place to grow bell peppers is where onions, carrots, pumpkins, or greens used to grow.
Pepper care includes: regular watering with warm water, top dressing 2-3 times per season (the plant prefers complex mineral fertilizers), careful loosening and weeding of the soil, prevention of diseases and insect infestations. Pepper bushes Krepysh do not need shaping and tying.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
Strong, like most other pepper varieties, grows comfortably in loose, light, nutritious, breathable and moist soils. It is important to remember that the soil should not be acidic and waterlogged.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
Strong is a warm / moisture-loving culture. It is recommended to plant a vegetable in a flat, sunny area, where there is enough light, moisture, there is protection from drafts and gusty winds. Experienced gardeners recommend planting on small hills with deep groundwater.
Disease and pest resistance
The culture has a good immunity to fungal infections. The plant is tolerant to verticillium. Pepper bushes are susceptible to pest attacks.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
