Gorospel is a bell pepper variety bred by Russian breeders and approved for use in 2020. Despite the fact that the hybrid has appeared recently, many summer residents have already tried it. Based on their first experience, we will share information about the new variety.
Description of the variety
Gorospel is a sweet bell pepper commonly grown outdoors. It has a high yield, strong immunity to diseases, and its fruits are highly valued for their excellent taste, large size, excellent marketability and good transportability. In addition, the hybrid is not too picky about care, but it is a vigorous variety, so the shoots need a garter.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
As already mentioned, the bush is distinguished by its great vigor of growth, it is semi-spreading in shape and has dark green slightly wrinkled leaves. Fruits tilt down during development, they are large and reach 15.5 cm in length, and the weight can exceed 300 g. Peppers are covered with yellow glossy fine-ribbed skin of medium thickness, have three chambers.
Purpose and taste
Consumers note the juicy, delicate, pleasant taste of the fruit. If you add it to a light vitamin salad, then it will not only add spicy notes to the dish, but also decorate it with its sunny coloring. This pepper will perfectly complement a hot dish. Dense walls 8-10 mm thick allow stuffing fruits. A vegetable is suitable for pickling and canning, and if the harvest is too rich, it can be frozen.
Ripening terms
This is a variety with an early ripening period: the first fruits can be enjoyed as early as 95-110 days after germination.
Yield
The variety is characterized by a high yield. So, from one square meter, a hardworking gardener can get an average of 10.2 kg of vegetables.
Landing scheme
The optimal time for sowing is late March or early April, more specific dates depend on the climatic conditions where the plant will be cultivated. First, the seeds should be germinated, for this they are placed in a damp bag, usually 7 days are enough for germination. Then they are buried in a substrate enriched with useful substances and covered with a film. At a temperature of + 25 ... 28 degrees, the first shoots will appear in 10-15 days. The pick is carried out when the first leaves are formed.
About a week before transplanting the shoots to the summer cottage, you can start hardening them. To do this, put the cups with bushes on the windowsill, and open the window, increase the time the sprouts stay in the fresh air every day.
For planting seedlings, give preference to sunny areas. Experienced summer residents recommend adding a layer of mulch to the ridge in advance - this will save the gardener from further regular loosening and weeding. Plant young bushes in a 60-70 cm pattern between rows and 30-35 cm in a row.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Further care consists in watering and feeding. The plant is watered 1-3 times a week, depending on the weather. In this case, it is important that the soil remains moist at a depth of 4-5 cm.The crop needs fertilization 1 to 3 times per season. To do this, before the flowering stage, organic matter (nitrate, humates) is used, and after the flowers appear, dressings with a high content of phosphorus and potassium are used, for example, superphosphates or potassium sulfate. Do not forget to tie the stem to the support, and in the absence of mulch, regularly loosen and weed the garden bed.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Disease and pest resistance
The presented variety is almost not affected by the tobacco mosaic virus and is tolerant to verticillary wilt, that is, in rare cases, it can get sick with this ailment, but this will hardly affect its development and harvest. However, Gorospel can become a victim of late blight. Bordeaux mixture, Fundazol, Barrier help with this disease.
The variety is not insured against insects. If the plant is affected by aphids, use the preparations "Aktara" or "Operkot", "Akarin" or "Actellic" will help against ticks, and, for example, "Antislice" or "Ulicid" will protect against slugs.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
