For lovers of orange pepper varieties, Emelya's vegetable is a good choice. The early ripe variety is famous for its high yields and excellent fruit taste, while the plant is absolutely undemanding to care for. Even a beginner can grow a vegetable, having familiarized himself with the peculiarities of the variety and the rules of agricultural technology.
Breeding history
Emelya's early peppers were bred by Russian breeders of the Aelita agricultural company in 2008. The authorship belongs to the scientists N.V. Nastenko, V.G. Kachainik and A.V. Kandoba. Vegetable culture is included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. The vegetable is cultivated in garden ridges, under a film shelter and in greenhouses. Bell peppers can be grown in different climatic zones - be it the Central Region or the Far East.
Description of the variety
Emelya is a medium-sized plant of a half-stem type, stretching up to 70-75 cm in height. In a greenhouse, the bush grows up to 1 meter. The pepper bush is endowed with a weak spreading of branches, due to which it looks quite compact, moderate thickening of green foliage, a developed root system, a powerful central stem and a mixed type of flowering. On the bushes, the fruits are wilted. On average, up to 12 large specimens ripen on each bush per season.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
Sweet peppers are characterized by smooth and flavorful fruits. The variety belongs to large-fruited varieties. The average weight of a vegetable is 120-150 grams with a length of 10-15 cm. The shape of the fruit is cylindrical, slightly narrowed downwards. Unripe peppers have a greenish-white color, while ripe peppers are evenly covered with light orange, sometimes yellow-orange.
The peel of vegetables is of medium density, firm (6 mm thick), perfectly smooth, glossy, with a slight ribbing. The structure of the pepper consists of 3-4 seed chambers.
The harvested crop is well stored - 7 days in the refrigerator and 14 in a plastic bag with holes, and it can also be transported over long distances. In a vacuum package, sweet peppers retain their freshness, taste and aroma for 3 months.
Purpose and taste
Emelya has a great taste and pleasant aroma. The pale yellow flesh has a tender, fleshy and very juicy texture. The taste of the vegetable has a bright sweetness with a rich aroma without bitterness and spice. There is no wateriness in the pulp.
Fragrant fruits of universal purpose - they are eaten fresh, added to cold and hot dishes, used as decoration, pickled, stuffed, frozen, canned, and also processed into sauces and dressings.
Ripening terms
Emelya is a bright representative of the class of early varieties. From mass germination to ripening of the first fruits on the bushes, 105-110 days pass. Ripening of vegetables is amicable. Yields peak in July.
Yield
The variety is declared as high-yielding. Having provided the culture with basic agricultural technology, it will certainly thank you with a good harvest - up to 7-7.5 kg / m2. It is characteristic that both in the greenhouse and on the garden ridge, the yield indicator is equally high.
Landing scheme
The comfortable growth and fruiting of the culture depends on how closely the density and planting pattern are observed. Up to 4 pepper bushes can be planted per 1 m2. When planting, they adhere to the 50x35 cm scheme.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
The vegetable is planted in two ways - seed and seedlings, but planting through seedlings is considered the most acceptable. Bushes are planted in open ground in late May - early June, and in a greenhouse in mid-May. Bushes 60-70 days old with a strengthened stem and 4-6 true leaves are used as planting material.
Agrotechnics of the pepper variety consists of standard procedures - regular irrigation with warm or settled water under the root, fertilizing with fertilizers 3-4 times during the growing season (the vegetable reacts well to mineral complexes), the formation of a bush in 2 stems, garter to trellises, loosening and weeding of the soil, prevention of diseases and pests. In addition, humidity control is needed in greenhouses through regular ventilation.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
A vegetable crop is most productive if it grows in light, fluffy, fertile and breathable soils that allow moisture to pass through well. The soil should not be acidic and waterlogged.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
Pepper Emelya, like most of its relatives, is a thermophilic culture, therefore it is recommended to plant it in sunny, light areas where there is protection from drafts. It is important to know that the vegetable does not react well to sudden cold snaps, prolonged shade and excessive dampness.
Disease and pest resistance
The culture has a complex immunity to diseases of the nightshade, therefore, the plant is sick only if agricultural technology is violated and in bad weather conditions. Planting aromatic herbs and flowers nearby will help protect against attacks of insect pests.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
