Egyptian power is a great option for those who love bell peppers. Such a culture not only pleases with early bountiful harvests, but also beautifully landscapes the beds, becoming a kind of decor item.
Breeding history
The described variety was created in Siberia, at the Research Institute of Plant Production and Breeding. The work on the plant was carried out by Gubko, Salmina, Steinert, Zhitnekovskaya, Aliluev and Avdeenko. The goal of the breeders was to create an early variety with good yields. The task was completed successfully, and already in 2019 a record about the plant appeared in the State Register of the Russian Federation.
Description of the variety
Egyptian Strength is a sweet early variety that can be successfully grown in the garden and greenhouse. Despite such a short period of existence, the culture managed to fall in love with many vegetable growers due to the following advantages:
good fruit taste and the ability to use them in different ways;
rare cases of diseases and pest attacks;
smooth, beautiful peppers with a glossy surface;
decent level of productivity;
high commercial characteristics, the possibility of transportation, commercial cultivation;
the ability to actively bear fruit even with minimal care;
the possibility of self-collection of seeds, since the variety is not hybrid;
long-term storage at the correct temperature.
The gardeners have not yet been able to identify significant shortcomings of the variety. However, they note that seeds do not always germinate well.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
Egyptian strength is a variety with determinate medium-sized bushes. Plants are compactly located in the beds, and their height often does not exceed 50 centimeters. Closed bushes with shortened internodes. The foliage is compact, not particularly large, green in color. The wrinkling of the leaf plates is practically absent.
Medium-sized fruits are placed horizontally on the bushes. They are small in length - 11-12 centimeters, the shape resembles a regular cone. At the time of technical ripeness, the peppers are green, but when they are fully ripe, they acquire a rich dark red hue. The fruits weigh on average 120-130 grams, the largest grow to 150. The peppers look attractive, because their skin is dense and glossy. Egyptian strength belongs to thick-walled fruits, wall thickness is 8 mm. There are 3 chambers inside each peppercorn. Most of the seeds are located near the stalk.
Purpose and taste
This pepper has a good sweet taste. It has no bitter or sour notes at all. And the described plant is one of the leaders among peppers in terms of vitamin C. Egyptian strength is quite suitable for dietary nutrition, however, due to such a rich color, the variety should be used with caution by allergy sufferers. In general, it brings the most benefits fresh. Does not lose vitamins even when frozen. Peppers of this variety can also be stuffed, used to decorate ready-made dishes, cut into summer salads, and rolled up for the winter.
Ripening terms
Egyptian strength is considered the earliest term for bell peppers. From the moment of emergence, 95-98 days must be counted. This will be the start of fruiting.Depending on the region, the crop begins to bear fruit in July-August.
Yield
The plant is quite fertile. In the open field, the average number of fruits harvested will be 4.4 kg per square meter, but in greenhouses you can collect 1.5-2 kilograms more.
Growing regions
Egyptian strength is a variety unique in its characteristics. It adapts to any climate, and where it is very cold, it can be planted in a greenhouse. Therefore, this variety is suitable for growing throughout the territory of the Russian Federation.
Landing scheme
The peppers are quite compact, they do not have a tendency to grow strongly. Therefore, planting according to the 50 by 30 centimeters scheme is a very good solution for this variety.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Peppers of this variety do not germinate too well for a long time, so the deadline for planting seedlings is early March. Seeds purchased in the store need to be pre-soaked in a growth stimulator, and the grains harvested from their own garden will also need to be calibrated and disinfected. It is better to buy a special soil for peppers. So the likelihood that the culture will not get sick even at the seedling stage is very high.
The grown sprouts are transferred to open ground or a greenhouse at the end of spring. The culture is necessarily planted together with an earthen clod. Fresh plantings are watered abundantly. And also a covering material is placed nearby in case of recurrent night frosts.
For irrigation of the plantation, settled water at room temperature is used. All irrigation is carried out at the root during the hours of minimum solar activity. Watering frequency depends on the weather. If the summer is characterized by a moderate amount of precipitation, then the sprouts are watered before flowering every 7 days. In case of heat, this will have to be done 2 times more often. Peppers should not be poured abundantly, as they are afraid of waterlogging. When the fruits begin to grow, irrigation is carried out three times a week. In this way, you will be able to achieve the necessary juiciness of the bell pepper.
After each watering or precipitation, the soil near the peppers must be fluffed. Do this with a small garden ripper, deepening by a maximum of 3 centimeters, so as not to injure the roots. Simultaneously with loosening, the plantation is inspected for the presence of weeds. To prevent this from becoming a regular procedure, the substrate can be mulched.
You need to feed the bushes of Egyptian strength about 5 times during the entire growing season. Once the seedlings have been moved to the beds, they are fertilized with nitrogen. The next feeding is carried out at the time of flowering. For her, take minerals or mullein. When the ovary begins to form, the pepper will need potassium. And during the harvest period, it will be necessary to feed the pepper with superphosphate twice.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
Egyptian vigor will love to grow in a fertile lightweight substrate with a breathable structure. This variety thrives in sandy loam soils fertilized with calcium and organic matter. However, organic matter should be applied sparingly so as not to oversaturate the soil with nitrogen.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
Pepper of the Egyptian Power variety fully lives up to its name. After all, it perfectly resists both drought and frost. It can be planted even in risky farming areas. The main rule is to choose a sunny area. Pepper does not tolerate even a slight partial shade.
Disease and pest resistance
Plants get sick only in the most extreme cases. Sometimes these are gardeners' mistakes, and sometimes it's too rainy summer. In general, with proper care, the bushes remain healthy for the entire fruiting period due to early ripening. But they will have to be protected from pests. In the open field, pepper can attract the attention of aphids and spider mites, and in humid greenhouse conditions, slugs and snails are often found. Gardeners are also annoyed by bears, gnawing at the roots of plants.
To prevent all troubles, you need:
plant bushes according to the correct scheme;
do not fill them;
do not plant where the peppers were last year;
loosening;
dig up the soil in the fall.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
