Early maturing pepper hybrids are a separate category of sweet peppers that are in high demand among gardeners and farmers. This is due to the fact that they are high-yielding, rarely get sick, have a quick adaptation to growing conditions, and also ripen at a time when other species are still completely green. A striking representative of this category is the Queen hybrid.
Breeding history
The early ripe hybrid Tsaritsa is a bright representative of the Russian selection, bred by scientists of the Sedek agricultural company in 2007. The authors of the vegetable culture are: Dubinin S.V., Lukyanenko A.N. and Dubinina I.N. The variety has been listed in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation since 2008. The vegetable is cultivated both on garden ridges, and in greenhouse structures, and under a film cover. Bell peppers can be grown in any climatic zone.
Description of the variety
The queen is a medium-sized plant of the standard type. The bush, which grows up to 65-75 cm, is characterized by compactness, medium branching and moderate thickening of pale green leaves. The peppers are located on the bushes drooping. At the same time, 10-12 leveled specimens can ripen on a plant.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
This peppery species is large-fruited. Fruits weighing 150-200 grams and 12-15 cm long ripen on the bushes. The shape of the vegetable is cuboid. An unripe vegetable has a bright green color, and an absolutely ripe pepper is evenly covered with a red-burgundy cover. Pepper belongs to the thick-walled species. The wall thickness of the vegetable can be up to 12 mm. The surface of the fruit is smooth, iridescent, with noticeable ribbing. There are 2-3 chambers with small seeds inside the peppercorns.
The harvested vegetables can be transported over long distances, as well as stored for a long time. The shelf life of pepper varies within 4-6 weeks without loss of taste and marketability.
Purpose and taste
The taste of the Tsaritsa pepper is excellent. The pale red flesh is firm, fleshy, slightly crunchy and very juicy. The fruit has a sweet taste, and the aroma is classic, peppery - of medium intensity. Sometimes the taste of vegetables has a pleasant sugar content.
Ripe peppers are characterized by a universal purpose - they are eaten fresh, added to cold and hot dishes, preserved in slices, frozen, pickled and baked. Peppers are especially good for processing into sauces and dressings.
Ripening terms
The queen is an early ripe hybrid. From the moment of mass germination to the first ripe peppers on the bushes, it takes up to 110 days. Fruiting in a culture is abundant and long. Vegetables ripen together, so it is recommended to remove them every 2-3 days. Harvesting is possible from July to September.
Yield
Yield indicators of the variety are excellent, not depending on weather surprises. From 1 m2 of plantings, an average of 7-8 kg of fleshy specimens can be collected.
Landing scheme
When cultivating a plant, it is necessary to observe the planting density and the distance between plantings. As a rule, the Queen pepper is planted according to the 40x60 cm scheme. It is recommended to place no more than 4-6 pepper bushes per 1 m2.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and caring
The vegetable is grown only by the seedling method. Fortified bushes at the age of 60-70 days with 3-5 leaves and a formed rhizome are planted in garden beds in early June, and in a greenhouse at the end of May. The best predecessors for this crop are pumpkin, squash, carrots and greens.
Caring for a vegetable consists of standard procedures: regular irrigation with warm water at the root, top dressing 2-3 times during the growing season (the culture responds well to complex fertilizers), loosening and weeding of the soil, formation and obligatory tying of bushes, prevention of viruses, as well as installation pest traps. In addition, periodical ventilation is carried out in greenhouse structures.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
For Tsaritsa pepper, like most other pepper varieties, planting is recommended in light, loose, fertilized and breathable soils with neutral acidity. The plant will not be productive if it is planted in swampy or too acidic soils.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Required climatic conditions
This species is quite thermophilic and stress-resistant. The culture easily tolerates prolonged heat and sharp temperature fluctuations. Peppers should be grown in a sunny place, where there is always light, heat, air circulation.Experienced vegetable growers recommend planting on a small hill, where there is protection from drafts.
Disease and pest resistance
The hybrid is highly resistant to infectious pathogens. In addition, it rarely suffers from standard nightshade diseases. Violation of agrotechnical rules or excessive dampness of the area where bell peppers grows can provoke the disease. The most annoying pest for a plant is considered to be aphids.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
