When growing hybrids, gardeners are forced to purchase seeds annually, but this minus is covered by the numerous advantages of hybrid crops. For example, Pepper Buratino F1, similar to the elongated narrow cap of this hero of a fairy tale or to his elongated nose, has long been loved by Russian consumers.
Breeding history
This hybrid of bell peppers for greenhouses was obtained on the basis of the V.I. V. I. Edelstein - a division of the Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K. A. Timiryazev. It was at this station that the first film greenhouse in the USSR was created.
The authors of the hybrid declared well-known breeders of the Moscow region: Borisov A. V. and Boriskina E. B. Since 1995, Buratino has been approved for cultivation and zoned for the North-West region and the Central Federal District.
Today Borisov A. V. is the head of the seed-growing company "Manul" (Mytishchi). Pepper Buratino is included in the extensive catalog of products in the collection "Author's Seeds".
Description of the variety
Pinocchio is an unpretentious early ripening hybrid of sweet pepper, fruitful, with almost 100% yield of commercial quality products. The bush is medium-sized, with sparse branching, the fruits are large, elongated, bright red when fully ripe. Disease resistant, grown in greenhouses, hotbeds and outdoors.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
The plant is sprawling, semi-determinate type, stretches up to 0.7-1 m, has a strong and thick main stem, a small number of lateral shoots (2-4), small rough foliage and drooping (growing down) fruits.
Beautiful and bright peppers have a large size: weight about 110-115 g (can reach 200 g), length from 12 to 17 cm, diameter 5-7 cm. The shape is elongated, conical, ribbing is poorly expressed. Thin-walled pepper (4-5 mm), fleshy, elastic and dense skin.
The color of peppers changes with ripeness: from dark green to deep red with brown "strokes" and spots.
Purpose and taste
This aromatic pepper has a good taste, juicy and sweet without tart bitterness. The composition contains a high content of sugars (3.4-3.9%) and vitamin C (204.5 mg / 100 g).
Pinocchio peppers are used universally, during the season it is advisable to use them fresh to the maximum, in salads and snacks. For the winter, peppers are canned: pickled in jars, cut into vegetable caviar and lecho. The main dishes are also prepared from these peppers: stuffed, baked, added to stews, Italian pasta, pizza.
Ripening terms
Pinocchio belongs to the group of early maturing hybrids. The period from emergence to the beginning of fruiting is 88-100 days. After harvesting the not yet reddened fruits, the plant quickly forms new ovaries. The crop is harvested over several months, from July to September.
Yield
The hybrid is valued for its abundant yield and a very high yield of marketable products (98% of the total harvest). An average of 1.5 to 13.3 kg is collected from a square meter. Peppers at the stage of technical ripeness have excellent keeping quality, they can be transported without problems.
Landing scheme
So that the spreading bushes grow without interfering with each other, the seedlings are planted according to the scheme 50 x 35 cm, placing 5 to 8 plants per 1 m².
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and care
Pepper Pinocchio is unpretentious and easy to care for. It tolerates weather extremes, lack of sun and arid heat. In the Moscow region, Buratino shows the best growth and productivity in the greenhouse.
Sowing for seedlings is carried out at the end of February-March, in May the seedlings are transferred to the beds. This self-pollinated hybrid is recommended to be removed in an area away from other pepper species to avoid cross-pollen transfer. You should not plant nearby chilli pepper bushes, such a neighborhood will affect the taste.
Pinocchio can not be formed or tied, although some gardeners still carry out the procedure for pinching the tops and lead a lush bush of 2-3 stems.
Top dressing should be carried out regularly: after planting seedlings, in the flowering phase and during fruit setting. Water the bushes 2 times a week.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
Soil requirements
During planting of seedlings, it is important that the soil is sufficiently warmed up, at least to 14-16 ° C. The soil should be loose, structural; to improve drainage, loam is dug up and sand, peat, sawdust, and manure are added. The increased acidity of the soil is neutralized by the introduction of ash or dolomite flour.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Disease and pest resistance
Pepper Pinocchio has good resistance to common nightshade diseases such as TMV (mosaic virus) and apical rot. Subject to the rules of cultivation, preventive treatments for pests and sanitary care of the site, this hybrid grows successfully and bears fruit abundantly.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
