The yellow sweet bell peppers are always particularly sweet. One of such yellow-fruited varieties is White Gold, which is also early.
Breeding history
The sweet pepper variety White Gold was bred by the Novosibirsk company "Siberian Garden" by the Russian breeders S. Ugarova and V. Dederko. The culture got its name because of the bright color of the fruit, which is always noticeable in any garden beds. In 2009, White Gold was entered into the state register of the Russian Federation. The pepper variety is intended for open ground or greenhouse cultivation throughout the country. Despite the fact that the variety is cold-resistant, adapted to the harsh conditions of the northern regions, it is still better to cultivate the plant in the north in a covered greenhouse.
Description of the variety
The White Gold variety stands out for its large fruits, which look appetizing and interesting: the shape resembles a cube, and the color is unusual, which many describe as pearl yellow. The product is rich in many useful microelements, a good chemical composition is noted, in which there is a lot of phosphorus, potassium, ascorbic acid, pectin, fiber, iron, calcium, sucrose, vitamins, essential oils. The average calorie content is 27-30 kcal / 100 g. It is interesting that during transportation the fruits retain all their useful and taste qualities, as well as excellent appearance, since they have rather dense walls.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits
The White Gold bush is considered to be of medium height, it is 0.4-0.5 meters in height. The stem is quite powerful and does not require tying. The leaf plates are medium.
Fruit weight varies from 104 to 450 grams. The shape is cubic, the peppers are colored light yellow at the stage of biological maturity. There are rather thick walls, reaching a centimeter.
Purpose and taste
White gold peppers are not only beautiful, but also very tasty and healthy. They are fleshy, juicy, and have a sweet and spicy taste. They make excellent winter preparations, canning, as well as various dishes, for example, stuffed peppers, salads, and cuts.
Ripening terms
White gold is an early variety, the ripeness in the technical stage is reached at 100-110 days. Fruiting takes place in July-August.
Yield
The variety is productive, on average, gardeners remove 4.2 kilograms of fruit from a square of plantations.
To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.
Growing and caring
High-quality peppers White gold is grown by the seedling method. Seeds are sown at the same time in early March or in the last days of February.
The seed is placed in the grooves at a depth of 1 centimeter and at a distance of 2-3 cm from each other. The plantings are moistened, covered with glass or film, and placed in a warm place (+ 26-28). When the first shoots appear, the shelter is removed, the seedlings are moved to an illuminated place such as a window sill. Upon reaching two leaves, they dive. Before planting on a permanent planting bed, they are hardened. The optimal white gold planting scheme is 30 by 50 cm.
Peppers need to be watered only with settled, warm enough water. Activities are held 2 times a week, in the morning or in the evening, at the root. Depending on precipitation and temperature, the frequency of approaches is adjusted. Drying and waterlogging of the soil must not be allowed. After irrigation or rains, the soil should be loosened, while weeding the weeds.
Young plants are fed with organic matter, a solution of mullein or chicken droppings 1: 10. After a couple of weeks, a second feeding is made from complex mineral fertilizers (potassium, phosphorus). The rest of the care of the variety is traditional.
To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.
For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.
Disease and pest resistance
Pepper White Gold has shown resistance to tobacco mosaic virus as well as other infections. However, it is sometimes affected by pests such as aphids, ticks and wireworms.
Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
