Veneered MDF panels for walls in interior design
Manufacturers of building materials are always looking for solutions that make interior decoration easier and faster. Of the products that have appeared recently, MDF panels can be distinguished, which are used for interior finishing work.
Application area
MDF panels are made from wood by hot pressing. The process does not involve phenols, which makes these products environmentally friendly for humans. This material eliminates the formation of an environment for the appearance and spread of fungus and mold. The use of various MDF panels is possible if there is wallpaper, old paint on the wall or on an unplastered surface. Installation of panels is carried out on a pre-fabricated frame, which is attached to the floor and ceiling. Behind this frame, you can hide the wiring, fill the space with sound or heat insulation.
In terms of operation, these panels have advantages over wood and chipboard. The strength of MDF is much higher in comparison with particleboard. These panels tolerate changes in humidity and temperature better than natural wood. Most often, MDF is used in offices and shops. These panels can be seen in living areas, hallways and loggias.
Designers are able to develop any interior, therefore MDF is used today in the decoration of the kitchen, living room, hall and bedroom.
Classification
There are many different types of MDF panels.
- Solid pressed. They have a pleasant appearance and are highly durable. Smooth on each side.
- Laminated. Unlike solid-pressed ones, they have a strong and wear-resistant high pressure laminated film on one side. The film most often imitates wood (oak, cherry, beech or walnut).
- Veneered. They are made by gluing natural wood plates to the surface. All cracks are sealed with a special putty. This is the most popular type of MDF among designers.
There are three ways to make such panels:
- hot method (pressing at high temperatures);
- cold (gluing with the help of special compounds):
- membrane (the most difficult to manufacture, the parts are connected when creating a vacuum).
In addition, this material may have an additional effect, which makes them a popular building material. For example, they can be moisture resistant.
These varieties are made from high quality wood specifically for bathrooms. Other products are paintable. This is one of the most popular types of MDF. The painting of the panels is as follows: the finished panel is first primed, then it dries, only after that the polyurethane enamel is applied.
The varieties of 3D MDF are noteworthy. They are not only wall panels: they are often used to decorate doors or cabinets. The use of veneer and MDF is popular as it creates the atmosphere of a natural wood wall with various carved wood elements. MDF has an acceptable cost. If you want to get great results without spending a lot of effort and money, then it will be an excellent option for you.
