As humus, leaves of birch, linden, as well as fruit plants that have fallen off more than a year ago can be used. Oak or willow leaves are not used due to the high content of tannins.

Some gardeners distrust shop earth for palm trees. However, modern products have improved their composition and are excellent for full-fledged growth of a palm tree in a pot. However, it is worth remembering that without proper care and regular feeding, the palm tree will not grow even in high quality soil. Proper watering remains an important guarantee of plant health.

First of all, you need to pay attention to the level of soil acidity - the mark should not exceed 6.5 units. The second important point is the looseness of the soil, its ability to let air through. In this context, the content of agroperlite or similar substances in the mixture is mandatory. Most of the products in this category do not have an expiration date, but, despite this, it is best to verify this personally by looking at the label.

For a young indoor palm, nitrogen is needed.It will help accelerate growth. Usually, ready-made mixtures for young trees contain an increased amount of nitrogen. If this is not the case, then you can feed the plant yourself after planting in the ground. You just need to remember that an excessive amount of nitrogen is detrimental to the tree.

Good land is considered, which at least includes sand, dolomite flour, mineral fertilizers, vermicompost, as well as two types of peat (lowland and high-moor). The soil for adult specimens should contain more leafy or sod land. Sod land refers to surface land from meadows. It contains plant roots and nutrients.

The older the palm tree, the better it will be for it to choose a composition with a higher content of these soil varieties. The reason for this is that the soil for the palm tree should become more and more breathable as it ages. The soil for young trees and for adults, as it has already become obvious, is different. First you need to take leafy soil in equal proportions, as well as woody, and mix them well together. However, it is not yet possible to plant a tree in such soil. It is also necessary to add in the same volume of high-moor peat and two times less than this volume of sand (it is advisable to choose coarse-grain).

After transplanting, the plants must be fertilized into the soil. And you can also do this over the next few days. After planting is complete, fertilization will need to be applied a couple of times a year (once required - in the spring-autumn period and the second time - as needed). And you also need to remember that a young tree needs an annual transplant, and the soil must be changed to a "new" one. If it is not possible to do this, then after the next transplant, you can simply replace the top layer of the earth with a mixture of woody and leafy soil.

The basis for the land of an adult palm is clay, leaf and turf soils. They must be mixed in equal amounts. To the mixture you need to add high-moor peat, as well as rotted manure. Two times less in volume than the above-mentioned components, you can add sand, as well as charcoal. Before planting a tree in this land, it is necessary to pour a drainage layer (for example, expanded clay) on the bottom of the container. An adult specimen is transplanted every 5 years and also requires a complete replacement of the soil. However, the top layer of soil in the pot needs to be changed more often - every 3 years. It is necessary to fill up with a mixture of clay-sod and leafy soil.
