Among the extensive list of modern building materials, drywall takes a special place. Drywall is unique, it is the one and only when it is necessary to align walls, make partitions or fix ceilings.

Drywall allows you to save a significant amount, while maintaining the quality and strength of the planes: both walls and ceilings. Consider the features of installing drywall, what factors are necessary for this.

Appointment

Any plasterboard coating has a solid base, which is a kind of "skeleton" for all other nodes and fasteners. Guides can be of different shapes, sizes and fulfill different purposes.

Supporting structures take on significant loads. If the material is poor in quality, then plasterboard structures may collapse or deform. It is recommended to purchase similar assemblies made by well-known manufacturers who give a guarantee for their products.

The master, before proceeding with the installation of drywall, asks a reasonable question: what material are the guides made of. This is the key to the successful implementation of the project.

The profiles are made of durable zinc-treated metal. Such material does not rust, the guides are strong and can serve for a long time.

The structure made as a frame is simple, it consists of two types of guides:

  • vertical;
  • horizontal.

The first are called "rack-mount" nodes. The second ones are called horizontal or starting ones.

Profile types are classified according to the material from which they are made.

Metal profiles can be as follows:

  • UD;
  • CD;
  • CW;
  • UW.

The types of guides are quite diverse, this is due to the variety of functions that they perform. If everything is done according to technology, then the sheets of drywall are fixed quite firmly, the products are stable and durable.

In Russian transcription, metal guides are designated by the letters: PN. In English transcription - UW are of several types; of these, at least four can be used for mounting the frame. Such parts (including sliding ones) are made of high quality steel, which is manufactured using cold rolling technology.

When installing bulkheads between rooms, supporting structures are used, which have dimensions:

  • length - 3 meters;
  • sidewall height - 4 cm;
  • base - 50 mm; - 65 mm; - 75 mm; - 100 mm;
  • 7 mm holes have been drilled in the backrest specially for fixing dowels.

Dimensions (edit)

The guides are available in a variety of sizes.

Parameters of the guide mounting PN (UW)

Rack - PS (CW)

They also serve as a support unit for the formation of the lathing in both walls and partitions. Fasteners to supporting structures are suitable along the perimeter. The upper edges are shaped - C.

A profile can have the following parameters:

  • length - 3000 mm; 3500 mm; 4000 mm; 6000 mm;
  • shelf height - 50 mm;
  • the width of the back corresponds to the indicator for PN - 50; 65; 75; 100 mm.

Ceiling rack profile PP (CD)

These are the most popular mounts, in the professional environment they are called "ceiling". The same plasterboard products are called PP. According to Knauf, they are abbreviated as CD.

Dimensions of similar structures:

  • length - from 2.5 to 4 m;
  • width - 64 mm;
  • shelf height - (27x28) cm.

Used to form ceilings.

There are differences between profiles in the type of attachment.

Stiffeners serve as add-ons that add even more strength.

Formats:

  • length - 3 m;
  • shelf height - 2.8 cm;
  • back size - 6.3 cm.

Profiles for ceilings are inferior in size to wall profiles, shelves are also made in smaller sizes. This is done with the aim to conceal less space in height. Drywall in the ceiling area is thinner, it is not so massive, which significantly reduces the overall load.

  • 60 x 28 mm - PP;
  • 28 x 28 mm - PPN.

Guide profile for cladding (UD or PPN)

UW or Mon

Partitions can be made of any thickness, so a wide variety of parts are produced with different size patterns, for example, width. The carriers for partitions are marked UW or PN. With such details, you can make a partition of the most different thicknesses.

Sizes are usually:

  • length - from 2.02 to 4.01 m;
  • shelf height - from 3.5 to 4.02 cm;
  • width - 4.3; 5; 6.5; 7.4; ten; 12.4; 15.1 cm.

Installation technology comes down to two methods:

  • GKL sheets are attached to the guides;
  • GKL sheets are attached to the wall without lathing.

It is very important to follow the technology when working. It is also recommended to prepare the appropriate tools in advance, to think over all the actions.

Securing the frame perimeter to the floor, walls and ceiling is very important. When you have an understanding of how to arrange sheets and profiles, you can mount drywall sheets directly. The thickness required is:

36 mm + 11 mm (GKL) = 47 mm. The largest thickness that the U-bracket allows to create is 11 mm.

UD (or PPN) profiles are the main elements of the frame. Invented specifically for arranging frame structures under the ceiling, they are the basis for the entire plasterboard module. The side parts have profiled corrugations, they are additional stiffeners, the base is equipped with special holes for fastening with dowels.

Usually, such nodes are installed around the entire perimeter. The structures are perforated and easy to install.

Rack profiles are often used as the main guides:

  • length - 3 m;
  • thickness - 0.56 mm;
  • width - 2.8 cm;
  • height - 2.8 cm.

The ceiling profile has the following dimensions:

  • length - 3 meters;
  • shelf - 28 mm;
  • backrest - 29 mm.

In addition to the above types, there are also guides that can further strengthen the structure.

  • strengthen protective functions;
  • significantly improve the finish;
  • give an arched shape.

Reinforced - UA

It is used as pillars when it is necessary to strengthen doorways. These profiles are made of good steel and have effective anti-corrosion protection.

These reinforced profiles come in the following sizes:

  • Length - 3000 mm; 4000 mm; 6000 mm.
  • Sidewall height - 40 mm.
  • Width - 50; 75; 100 mm.
  • Profile thickness 2.5 mm.

Corner - PU (protective)

This assembly is attached to the outer corner parts of the structure and effectively protects them from a variety of damages. The shelves are equipped with special holes for plaster mortar to penetrate into them. In this way, it guarantees a greater anchorage to the surface.

Corner profiles are of the following sizes:

  • length - 3 meters;
  • section - 24x24x0.5 cm; 32x32x0.4 cm, 32x32x0.5 cm.

Corner - PU (plaster)

It is mounted on the corner parts of openings, as well as on the end sides of partitions, which will subsequently be covered with plaster. There are also holes here that will be filled with gypsum mortar. The guides themselves are made in such a way that they are not afraid of corrosion / galvanized steel /.

The plaster profile can be of the size:

  • length 3000 mm;
  • section 34X34 mm. Corner mount specially for plastering.

Beacon PM

A support rail can often be used to get a smoother surface during plastering. All material is galvanized, which makes it inaccessible to the effects of corrosion.The GKL beacon profile is very popular.

The beacon mount to level the plaster comes in sizes:

  • length - 3000 mm;
  • section - 23x6, 22x10 and 63x6.6 mm.

Arched type - PA

Usually such a knot is made of PP 60/28.

There are two types of it and is used for the installation of uneven ceiling structures:

  • Based on GCR.
  • Arok.
  • Columns.
  • Domes.
  • Such structures can be bent with an arc.
  • The parameters of the "concave" are 3 meters.
  • The parameters of the "convex" are 6 meters.

Piers

Profiles that are designed to create walls are marked with the abbreviation CW or PS. They usually correspond in width to the starting parts. All branded parts are engraved, so it is quite easy to determine the correspondence during installation. Plasterboard products PS have an additional stiffening rib, which forms a bent edge. They are used for the installation of the frame itself in the structures of partitions.

Arch profile

Professional builders prefer to use products from proven materials. They are used in cases where a more complex structure needs to be made, they are not always urgently needed, masters know how to make do with simple profiles, making them arched.

There are quite a large number of different additional nodes, several dozen, it is impossible to list all of them.

The quality standard can be called the products of the German company "Knauf", in fact, this name has long become a household name. All the variety of guides are produced by this corporation, as well as drywall.

Also, very often they use the necessary parts, without which there can be no full-fledged fastening: suspensions, extension cords.

The crab connector allows you to attach all types of profiles. Usually used for fixing ceiling battens. Duplex connectors secure PCB strips at 90 degrees, and multiple levels can also be created. Fastenings are made using dowels and screws. All of the above nodes and parts allow you to create a plasterboard covering of any degree of complexity.

Mounting

Plasterboard installation is quite accessible even for a person who is far from construction and repair.

These are simple jobs such as:

  • alignment of walls;
  • creation of bulkheads.

You can really create them with your own hands.

Plasterboard as a wall finishing material is very effective; it is also possible to create various multi-level coatings from it.

Plasterboard alignment is done in two ways:

  • Drywall is attached to the crate;
  • Plasterboard sheets are fixed to the wall.

It is very important to follow the technology during the installation process. Also, in order for everything to be done correctly, you should prepare the appropriate tools and study the installation instructions.

Advice

When decorating walls, the length of the sheets is considered taking into account the height of the room. The joints must be kept to a minimum. In our country, the most widespread is moisture resistant gypsum board, as well as standard.

A wooden frame is used in extreme cases, the wood is deformed, so there is a high likelihood that the coating will deform.

For successful installation it is necessary to have in stock a special glue of the Perflix type, as well as a special putty "Fugenfuller". The inner guides should fit as tightly as possible to the marks, this will maximize the preservation of the volume of the room.

When installing the guides, you should take into account what kind of insulation will be.

Between the floor and the gypsum board, a gasket not thinner than eight millimeters must be placed. After installation, the remaining gap is filled with a moisture-resistant sealant.

Self-tapping screws are placed at a distance of at least 20 cm from each other, the distance from the edge is at least 10 cm. The primer of the joints is done with a special primer (tifsoil).
