The orchid is a perennial crop that grows in the tropics of South and North America. The flower can have a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. One of the most famous species of this plant is the golden orchid. The article will tell about the varieties of this group of exotic flowers.

Breeding

Due to the fact that these plants cross quite easily, there are many varieties of golden orchids. When developing new varieties, specialists are guided by intuition. They take two flowers, taking into account their appearance. In most cases, these are flowers with a bright yellow or golden color. The result is beautiful new views.

Many plants from this group are capricious, they need careful care, otherwise they will not bloom. Moreover, such a flower can be grown at home on a windowsill. Most varieties are undemanding to lighting, they can develop and bloom in the shade. The main thing is to maintain the optimal temperature in order to prevent the death of the flower. The temperature regime depends on the season.

In summer, the recommended range is 22-29 ° С, in winter it is 15-25 °. At night, the temperature can be a couple of degrees less.

Fertilizer

It is necessary to make top dressing at least twice every 30 days. The plant tolerates too saline soils very poorly. This means that the application rates indicated on the packaging must be halved. The substrate must absorb moisture well. In addition, it should be light, contain coal, pine bark and moss in its structure.

In the case of an orchid, the substrate must not be allowed to dry out. At the same time, excess moisture is also harmful. The best solution in this situation is to place the flower container in a tray filled with liquid. Then the plant will absorb the optimal amount of moisture for itself.

Transfer

This process is very difficult for the flower. The right time for this is spring. You should not carry out the procedure too often, once every four or five years is enough.

The transplant container should be large in diameter, but not too deep. The main condition is to be careful so as not to harm the root system.

A flower that has been transplanted does not need to be watered for three days.

Reproduction

The easiest way to carry out this procedure is to divide the bush into several parts during the transplanting process. Planted flowers should not be watered for 14 days. The temperature in the room should not drop below 22 ° C.

Pruning

It happens that the plant blooms again, and the buds are formed on the stem of the old peduncle. Therefore, after the plant stops blooming, it is better to let it stand for some time, and then, when the arrow dries up, you can cut it off.

If the arrow is not completely dry, then it is better not to prune it. If you remove it earlier than it should, then the culture will not be able to quickly recover, and the flowers will begin to form no earlier than six months later. If there are buds on the peduncle, then it is better to postpone pruning, because there is a chance that the plant will still bloom.

When pruning, it is important to consider the properties of a particular variety. There are species that can be pruned when acquired with brown stems.

Varieties

"Gold of Kinabalu"

This variety of golden orchids is rare and very expensive. This variety grows only on the slopes of Mount Kinabalu, located on one of the peninsulas in Malaysia.A plant's flower appears when it reaches the age of fifteen. The orchid is unpretentious to the conditions, it can grow both in the shade and in a lit place. This species is striking in its height (more than 50 centimeters). The leaves are large (from 50 cm in length), yellowish-green in color. Under the sun's rays, they completely change their color to yellow. Sheet width - 5 cm.

The main feature of this variety is that it was bred as a result of many crosses. Because of this, the plant is resistant to our conditions (climatic features and temperature conditions).

It is worth remembering that Golden Beauty prefers warmth and good watering.

Golden Jaguar

This orchid hybrid is well suited for indoor living. The optimum temperature for him is 21-25 ° С, at night - 14-17 ° С... At home, it is almost impossible to provide such a temperature difference, but at least a difference of a couple of degrees must be observed. Golden Jaguar does not require high humidity, 40-60 percent is quite enough even during the operation of central heating. Lighting for this species is also not required (plants can develop both in bright light and in the shade). For a flower, the presence of drafts is harmful, as is placement on cold window sills.

The petals of this variety are yellow in color, it blooms once every 6 months. The flowering period is 8 weeks. A substrate is suitable as a soil, as for all other species. Watering this variety loves abundant, but rare. Watering is necessary when the substrate is completely dry.
